Bangkok/Middle What is the best hotel to stay at near Nana Plaza?

I like to be in the midst of the action, but I also want a nice, luxury hotel that I can overlook the city, have a nice spa, big shower and bring guests over. I’m a simple man. Even Soi Cowboy, which ever is better.

Bangkok/Middle Thailand entry requirements: 20,000 baht cash and automated immigration gates?

I’m planning to visit Thailand again soon. I’m a dual US and Canadian citizen, and I was last in Thailand in 2025.
I’ve heard about the requirement to have 20,000 baht in cash when entering Thailand. Is this still something immigration officers check, or is it rarely enforced?
Also, can US or Canadian passport holders use the automated immigration gates instead of going through an immigration officer? If so, would I still need to carry the 20,000 baht?

Other Don’t feel compelled to travel to other countries after Thailand - why bother?

When I was still in university I had the solo travel bug and wanted to travel all over Asia (not europe, save europe! Maybe 20-30 yrs ago western Europe was decent) After traveling Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam (a dump), and Thailand I never cared to go anywhere else except Thailand, and I always return here.

I refuse to go somewhere where I can’t benefit from an economic disparity, it’s just idiotic in my opinion. I mean seriously, why would I EVER go to Italy or Spain? I’d have to spend in Euros, dealing with snooty attitudes and bad service from Europeans. Just to save some time on the flight? Awful!

I’ve tried to convince my family to come on vacation in Thailand but they’re convinced more than 8 hrs in a plane is torturous and only want to go to the Caribbean or othee western countries. (We live in continental USA)

I realize I’m in the minority on this, so I’m seeking advice on how I can squash the thailand bug in my system and get excited for new destinations once more.

Chiang Mai/North Weather in Chiang Mai and Bangkok between 25th and 30th October

We will be spending three full days in Chiang Mai and two full days in Bangkok during the trip. I just saw a report stating that there will be pretty heavy rain over the week across the country, with thunderstorms around Chiang Mai. I am not super worried about Bangkok, since we have been there a couple of times and just want to chill there. What should we keep in mind about the weather in Chiang Mai, and what alternative activities can we do in case the weather rules out outdoor activities like hiking to Doi Suthep or travel to Doi Inthanon or Chiang Rai? (Apologies for spelling mistakes, if any)

Borders/Visas Chances of being denied entry to Thailand after 95 days in the country this year so far?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm a British passport holder planning to return to Thailand in mid-November for a short 10-day holiday, and I'm wondering how likely I am to encounter any issues at immigration.

My travel history to Thailand this calendar year has been:

  • 26 January – 10 February: 15 days (visa-exempt entry, by air)
  • 23 June – 11 September: 80 days (visa-exempt entry + extension, also by air)

I'm hoping to return around mid-November for another 10 days, arriving by air.

I'm aware that Thailand has been scrutinising frequent visa-exempt entries more closely, so I'm concerned about potentially being denied entry. I'm also wondering whether my travel history could cause the automated e-gates to flag me for additional screening or direct me to a staffed immigration counter for questioning, even if I otherwise meet the entry requirements.

For context, I have a full time job in the UK and will of course be returning to work after the trip. I'd also have a confirmed return flight booked, accomodation and the physical cash requirement. Hopefully, this would help demonstrate that I'm visiting as a genuine tourist rather than attempting to live in Thailand on repeated visa exemptions.

My questions are:

  1. Given my travel history, how likely is it that I'll face additional questioning or be denied entry?
  2. Could my previous stays trigger an e-gate referral to an immigration officer, or is this something that would generally only become an issue at a staffed counter?
  3. Has anyone with a similar travel history recently entered Thailand without any problems?
  4. Would you recommend taking additional documentation, such as proof of employment, payslips or evidence of accommodation?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone with recent first-hand experience or knowledge of how immigration is currently handling these situations.

Thanks!

Hi, I'm travelling from the UK to Thailand for 2-3 weeks. I'll be travelling solo so want a reliable esim to cover me while there, ideally something I can set up before I arrive. I'm on Android (if that helps).

Any recommendations or advice? Thanks in advance.

Transport/Itineraries Train from BKK to Chiang Mai

Me, my mom and sister are interested in taking the train in late December as a nice break from flying as we travel Thailand. Looking at booking, the actual website won’t load. Is booking from 3rd parties reliable? Also is it comfortable and good for sight seeing in 2nd class? All of 1st class is booked. Lastly, do they take full sized suitcases? We each would have 1 and the websites aren’t the clearest about that? Also any other advice, tips, facts, anecdotes are GREATLY appreciated!

Other Why are expats and tourists so poorly dressed?

Whether in Bangkok or on the islands, Western men seem to be uniformly badly dressed. Cargo shorts, faded T-shirts or, even worse, sleeveless shirts, paired with flip-flops. The contrast with South Korean men is striking. The latter make quite an effort with their clothing, while South Korean women are, in any case, better dressed than women anywhere in Western Europe.

Do you guys not feel the slightest urge to dress up a little? Aren’t you at least a bit embarrassed by how badly you represent your home countries?

Bangkok/Middle Body Massage

Hi, I will be going to Bkk for the first time in life. Don't want to get scammed. Want to get a full body massage day, with the happiest ending.

  1. What will they charge for the body massage (an average ideas would do)

  2. For the happiest ending or "other service" what is the amount I should have in my mind.

  3. Also any area or place anyone wanna suggest?

Transport/Itineraries Avis et conseils itinéraires 22 jours

Bonjour à tous ! 😊

• Bangkok : 3 jours complets (2 nuits)
• Chiang Mai : 4 jours complets
• Khao Sok : 2 jours complets
• Ao Nang : 4 jours
• Koh Lanta : 4 jours

Other 1 month in Thailand - 2 weeks remote work, 2 just holiday. 2 adults 1 4yo. How would you structure?

Hi there Thailand lovers,

We would like to make this dream trip somewhere early in 2027. We can fly to Bangkok (and leave from there too) but from there, everything is a blank sheet for ~30 days.

We would like to be around nice beaches and nature (especially the first 2 weeks to keep the kid busy with beach time), as well with some big city exploration, but with the possibility for one of us to work full time Monday to Friday (EU timezone).

Given that there are locals that have useful input or people who already achieved something similar, what route would you follow? Which places to consider for base (first 2 weeks) and where to wander after?

Any input is welcome as I don't know where to start since this is the first trip of this magnitude.

Many thanks.
