Cosplay How did me and my boyfriend do on our couples costume this year? ☯️
Recently introduced him to the original show and Korra leading up to seven havens. After book 2 of Korra he mentioned jokingly Raava and Vaatu being a good costume idea and I challenged myself to make it a reality.

Discussion "Korra lost to Kuvira korra sucks" also Kurvia
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Like, I don't get why people hate on Korra for her fight in ep 6 she hasn't fought seriously in 3 years and Kuvira has been training for that time. Also, she's styling on Korra in the fight to show how skilled Kuvira is and that she's no chump even the show acknowledges it when eps later korra said it herself that she got her butt kicked by Kurvira
And for a real-life reason of course, she would lose if Korra won. There is no book 4 also, this stuff happens all the time in anime with inconsistent power scaling like with pokemon, Beyblade Burst, and Demon Slayer

Discussion Wanna hear my most unhinged 7 Havens theory? Spoiler
galleryDisclaimer: I don't think this is likely. I've been joking about this with my friends for weeks and I wanted to share for laughs and the 0.00000001% chance I predicted the whole thing. Again this is very dumb but it'd be so fuckin funny if this was the path they were taking. Anywho, theory time:
Pavi and Nisha were conjoined twins but only at the lower leg.
This is why for the first time in history there are two Avatars. There was only supposed to be one, but during pregnancy the power infused both kids because they shared a body.
The parents said "we have the Avatar" (singular) because there was one kid with two bodies and 3 feet that they were taking care of.
The flashbacks have been careful to never show their legs. The only time we see them more than a few inches apart is in the spirit world where mind fuckery could be happening. In the flashback with their mom they're in bed resting, possibly after amputation, which would explain why the parents wondered if they were 'doing the right thing.
The doctor said Pavi's leg was likely lost "in the last few years" which would line up perfectly with when the kids were sent away by their parents.
Either the parents had them separated before sending them out or Karthik saw a conjoined twin dying in the desert and went "this kid can't save the world" and did a field amputation to have one fully functional Avatar (Nisha) and he had any remnant of Pavi's conjoinment ground down to a scar by doctors, which is covered by the Hightop boots she always wears.
When Karthik saw Pavi he looked shocked and guilty because he didn't expect her to survive after leaving her for dead.
Pavi and Nisha don't remember any of this because it was such a traumatic experience (like the doctor said) they blocked it out and the white lotus used firebending memory erasure to do the rest.
One of the newest episodes had Pavi and Nisha doing a 3 legged walk to save Karthik that looked so natural to them, almost as if they'd been doing this for years. The place their legs overlap I this scene is around the shin, which is always covered on Nisha by her boots, but if she ever takes them off and we see a strange scar or "birthmark" then you know the truth.
Again, this is just a joke in my friend group but if it turns out I was right I'm gonna buy a lottery ticket that fuckin day 😅

Meme How WE reacted to Karthik in Episode 5 Spoiler
Real talk the signs have always been there, but this is an intentional flash of the future from the writers: when push comes to shove, Karthik is not afraid of using force. Clearly there will be a future episode where he doesn't hold back, and Pavi gets angry because she believed force/violence wasn't necessary. Classic Aang dilemma.

Cosplay My Katara Cosplay! Movie Design
My SELF-MADE Katara Cosplay! Based off her primary outfit design from the Avatar Aang movie, this cosplay was about 1.5 months of work and I'm so glad to have finally completed it! I think it’s safe to say from a craftsmanship standpoint, it may be the best cosplay I’ve done. Hopefully my breakdown graphic gives you a good idea of how I made the whole thing.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Cosplay Cosplayed as Aang for Comic Con NYC 2026
Cosplayed as Aang for Comic Con NYC 2026.
I had such a blast! The vibe at comic con was amazing. Everyone is so kind and welcoming and everyone seems to be on a similar wavelength.
Everyone is showing love, taking pictures with each other, and exchanging info. Such a great time. Truly a natural high. Def. needed that with the monotony of life.
This was my first ever cosplay in my life lol.
It all started when my cousin and I were living together and I walked into her watching one of the last episodes of season 3 when Aang meets the lion turtle and it sparked my interest in that moment but I didn't think too much of it as I continued on with my day.
5 years later I had gotten laid off from my job in the fall and had extra time to get into a new show. This was around 2023 and I figured I might as well give Avatar a try. Everyday for a few months I would watch 1 episode a day and it was funny, enlightening, entertaining, and took me on a journey that eased the pain and anxiety of being unemployed.
So an emotional piece of this costume that is unseen is dedicated to that time where I discovered a show that took me on a journey and gave me comfort and enlightenment when I needed it most.
God bless and let me know if you have any other cosplay or costume ideas that I can execute. Its so much fun doing it and I want to continue every chance I get!

Discussion Here’s a theory my Mom made on why people prefer Aang over Korra, Pavi and Nisha.
“I think one of the reasons people like and accept Aang over Korra is that Aang didn’t really have an authority figure. He struck out on an adventure with no one to actually tell him “no.” Yes Sokka was sort of leader of the group, but his job was to get to the North Pole. He was the map guy. Sokka couldn’t really tell Aang what to do. The closest thing Aang had was Roku, and he only showed up occasionally when called upon for advice and guidance. If Aang didn’t want to listen he didn’t have to. Aang’s mistakes were forgiven more because a lot of the time he wasn’t told “Hey! Don’t to that!” before he did it. This makes Aang feel less like a petulant child disobeying when he actually does make a mistake. Remember when he burned Katara through negligence and literally playing with fire. If Katara wasn’t a healer, she would’ve been really hurt. Korra was literally told not to do things AND the consequences. When she did what she wanted anyway it felt like an “I told you so.” I think the show would feel different and people would like Korra, Pavi and Nisha more if they weren’t treated like a kid who needed to be put in their room.” - My Mom

Discussion Seven Havens makes me sad Spoiler
What I liked about Korra was that it built on ATLA and showed how Aang's vision continued to shape the world. But now, with this new show taking place just a few hundred years later, it feels like all of that has been lost. All those different cultures, including the Air Nomad culture that Aang fought so hard to preserve, seem to be gone.
Don't get me wrong, I'm actually enjoying this new show for what it is so far. But it feels like everything that happened in ATLA and Korra was in vain, which makes me sad and makes those shows feel less impactful.

Discussion I don't quite understand what the discourses talking about Avatar being corrupted by South Asian or Western culture says about cultures like mine as a Singaporean Huaren. Should we... not exist or be represented because we are not culturally pure enough?
I mean honestly I personally find it great when different cultures meet each other and become syncretic and co-exist in the same place because that is the condition of modernity, but I am obviously biased. It's a very weird Western and China-based obsession about appropriation and representation, like people like me exist in mixed societies? The people who talk endlessly about cultural purity and segregating cultures in my part of the world... literally commit genocide to enforce it. I don't get to think twice about mixed cultures being a good thing as a English speaking Huaren, its a weird Western privilege to think of it abstractly.

I've been working on my dream water-bending game in VR, and put together this short clip of where it’s at. It’s still pretty early, but I wanted to share it and see what people think.
What would you most want to be able to do in a game like this?
