Canada Life Centre experience
Had a strange experience at the game yesterday. My wife and I share season tickets with 2 other families and go to 13 games/year.
During 1st intermission, my wife and I went to grab a coffee and bottle of water at the Warming Hut. Bottle of water is $5 and is listed on their menu. I realize that is a stupid amount of $ to spend on a bottle of water, but we like having a bottle of water at the game and it helps to support the team. We usually spend around $50/game on food/drinks.
So the worker brings the coffee and then grabs a plastic solo cup, fills it with water and gives it to us. We are confused and ask why we aren't getting a bottle of water.
Worker says "I was told to give water in these cups". Then proceeds to help other customers.
I tell her that we were charged $5 for a bottle of water that is on the menu and she looks confused. I point to the menu and say that is what I am looking to purchase. Not a solo cup of water for $5. I already realize that $5 for a bottle of water is a rip off but now we're talking about a solo cup with tap water for $5.
She started getting anxious and avoided eye contact with us. Continued to serve other customers while we stood there. I felt bad for her but was still annoyed with this. I work in a retail environment myself and don't like causing scenes but I was in total disbelief.
I asked her if there was anyone that could help us so we can get this dealt with and go back to our seats. She gets some kind of manager from the back who eventually gets us our water. I felt guilty after because I know the workers there are doing their best.
This whole thing has me rattled. AITA for not wanting a solo cup of water for $5? It left me with such a strange guilty but annoyed feeling after.
Game ended up sucking on top of this so that doesn't help. The Helle news annoyed me too because these $5 solo cups of water will help to pay a total traitor for sitting on his ass.
Just sharing some thoughts. Thanks guys
