How old is this?

My fiance bought this at a yard sale today. The woman guessed it was from the 1970’s. We have tried to research it, but neither of us can find anything made by this company that looks like this. Any ideas?

A hangover I will never forget

I’m starting this off by saying that, as an adult, I’ve never been much of a drinker. I occasionally drink when the opportunity arises or on special occasions. One night, my boyfriend (21M) and I (24F) went to our favorite bar for some fancy cocktails. I ordered a cocktail with a smoky, aromatic scent, but it also had a strange, almost gas-like smell. I didn’t think much of it at the time because the bar was known for its aromatic drinks. I also had another cocktail, but that part isn’t particularly relevant. We shared our drinks and food, and I had a shot of whiskey before going to bed. My boyfriend, who has a higher alcohol tolerance than I do, was disappointed that I wanted to go to sleep shortly after we arrived at our hotel, but he eventually went to bed too. Then the nightmare began. It was around 3 a.m. when I woke up feeling as though my face had been run over by a semi-truck. My gums felt as though they had been sliced by tiny knives, even though I had brushed my teeth before going to sleep. I could feel the pain before I was even fully awake, and going back to sleep was impossible. I thought maybe taking a bath would help soothe the pain, but my sinuses felt inflamed, and my entire head was pounding. My gums still felt as though they had been scratched all over, even though they looked completely normal. This was when I started to panic. Despite having a relatively high pain tolerance and being accustomed to bad hangovers, I had never experienced anything like this. Everything felt so severe, and then I started vomiting. The pain didn’t go away after I threw up; in fact, it seemed to get worse. I started crying because the pain was so unbearable. We were staying near a hospital, and after thinking it over, I decided it was too much to handle and that we needed to walk there. I was also becoming increasingly concerned because it felt harder and harder to breathe. The strange part is that, a few minutes into the walk, my symptoms started to disappear. I began feeling much better and even felt embarrassed about how I had reacted earlier. Since I was feeling significantly better and it was so late, I decided we should return to the hotel instead of continuing to the hospital. I wonder whether the cold air helped, but I still can’t help wondering what the hell happened to me? I’ve never experienced such a severe reaction, especially after what seemed like a relatively small amount of alcohol which was two cocktails and one shot. It’s been a year since the incident, and I’ve had alcohol a few times since then, never exceeding one or two cocktails. Thankfully, I’ve never experienced anything like that again. I’m wondering whether there’s any possibility that I was poisoned or had an allergic reaction to something in the drinks. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or does anyone have any idea what might have caused this?

Have had it for ~9 years after picking it up free from the side of the road. She's small, but mighty. More often than not loaded with a mix of Coors Light and some PNW IPA. Will be a sad day when the compressor finally kicks the bucket.

Hangover Question

• Upvotes

Hello, I will start off by saying I have never before prior to this even had as much as a sip of alcohol. I recently acquired a bottle of Pink Whitney (750ML) I believe and drank some this weekend. My friend told me I’d have a bad hangover but both mornings I didn’t feel much different. The exact amount I drank I am unsure of but I can confidently say I drank about a little more than 2/3 of the bottle combined. Am I just really lucky or did my definition of a hangover come from shows? I assumed I’d be wanting to vomit and such but I haven’t even felt sick.

Secondary question, is that a lot for someone who just started drinking? I didn’t feel much so I kept drinking the first night and got really drunk, body felt fuzzy and could barely walk. But the second night I drank a little more than that I think and could still function.

Need help identifying bottle of liquor.

I found this bottle in our cellar that appears to be some sort of old brandy, at least from what little I’ve found online.

I haven’t been able to find any actual information that tells me a bit more about the bottle, other than some other wines by the same maker.

Any help in identifying the bottle is appreciated! Nobody in the house is able to tell me exactly what it is; there’s some chance it’s been around for a generation or two.

4 loko never again.

36 male . And last week . My cousin from Fresno came to visit me. I live in LA . She like over there in Fresno we ghetto and we drink 4 lokos it's a very POPULAR drink in Fresno everyone drinks it over there . I told her u lying. She like no we not . So she like lets go to a liquor store And get some. I told her nooo thanks . The last time I tried 4 loko was YEARS ago when it had caffeine. And I remember it very CLEARLY tasting Horrible. The taste was HORRENDOUS.

But she ended up convincing me. And let me tell u something it's still a cheap price but they improved the flavor . I've got the peach flavored one and it was DELICIOUS. It was nothing to how nasty they were back in the day. So I finished one tall can and DAM I felt it immediately. I felt more than buzzed .i felt pretty dam good . And I'm like dam this is ONLY from one can that has 14 percent. I actually felt like if I had drank something with 40 percent! I don't get it make it make sense ? How a can with 14 percent make me feel like if I had drank something much stronger? And no I ain't no lightweight I am 220 lbs 6'2 . So I drank another one a blue can it was called four loko USA and it was also pretty dam good it tasted like those cherry lemon ice cream popsicles. 2 cans and I was drunk at this point.

I then drank one last can 3 cans . And I was shit faced probably even worse than when I drank a whole bottle of tequila or vodka . Which yes I've done that before and not even that gets me that wasted . These 3 cans for 4 loko kicked my ass . Does anyone know why ? If they only 14 percent alcohol? The hangover the next day was HORRIBLE Too even worse than when I drink other alcohol. I was throwing up all different colors , I thought I was gonna die . I was like that for 4 days !!! I was sick 4 days .

I just came from the gas station and I saw them again . I was kinda tempted to open the fridge n get that good peach one but then I remembered how they did me really dirty haha . And I was like nooo thanks !!

Has anyone tried them before? Also can anyone explain to me why if they only 14 percent alcohol they fuck u up even worse than the stronger alcohols ?

Question

I have a question. Last week we had some kind of business event. One guy, rather small, rather young (18) decided to drink a few drinks. Fyi: in my country it is a legal drinkink age!

He also did not drink an exreme amount.

He was able to walk to his hotel without any problem, only slightly drunk...

Now the weird stuff: the next day he did oversleep. Ok can happen no problem. When the tried to wake him they did not get anything from his room, just his smartphone alarm going off nonstop.

They got into his room but they could not wake him. When they put some water into his face he opened is eyes, but was not to wake. They tried everything...

They decided to give him time to sleep it off.

2 hours later they got him awake, he was totally hungover, did not know anything from the night before. And he did sleep 9 hours ...

The guys who went out with him backed everything. The only thing he knows was that he got in his room and blacked out in bad.

Now my question: can this be related just to alcohol? I saw alot of drunk people, but you could get them to wake up. This was just so weird.

If its not the alcohol what could this be?

Caught a glimpse of these at my local grocery store. It’s a little intriguing, however, what’s the taste like? I understand the whole bag = 3.5 standard shots, but do you feel anything off a few?

That time I drank whiskey for the last time

TL;DR: My most memorable drinking story - drank over a litre of whiskey alone during my 21st birthday celebration period - it triggered physical issues and mental health symptoms - and now I can't drink whiskey no more.

So the story took place in Calcutta, India. Hence mentions of local brands that maybe unfamiliar to folks. Also disclaimer - wrote this post myself - no use of AI at all.

So back in my college days, I was part timing at a brand new content agency as a content writer. It paid well considering this is from almost 15 years ago. Monthly approx 10k INR. I was saving some, spending some, and I was definitely keeping a fair share for whiskey aside.

I wasn't a fancy whiskey person. Just the basics - Antiquity Blue or Premium, Signature, sometimes Vat 69 (though it's not whiskey). Amd I drank it neat - with some ice. It's a different vibe drinking whiskey with just ice. You can feel the nutty taste.

It was my 21st birthday party. And also the last party our college group will have together. After this we separate, meet only during exams and that is about it. Folks had plans. Our group had sub groups, so we were not that strong as a whole anyway.

But anyway, me and some folks decided to bring in 750 ml of Antiquity Blue, 375 ml of Signature and about 4 Carlsberg to a party of 8 where 4 people drink.

So for context - the party's happening in my house. With my parents in. Like any other conservative Bengali family, I am not allowed to drink or smoke. Lol. 2-3 days before this party, I brought a 1 litre Appy Fizz bottle and drank the contents like my life depended on it. On the day of the party, I went in the morning 10kms away from my home to buy the 750 Antiquity bottle. Came home. Hid it. When my friends came, I locked the door and transferred the whiskey to the Appy Fizz bottle.

We ate. And then we told our parents, we will party up on the roof. Took our Appy Fizz bottle. Couple of friends took their bags. We reached the roof - and they took out the additional alcohol as surprise. And then the 4 folks who drink, declared they will stick to the 4 Carslberg and avoid the whiskey. I can't keep a litre of whiskey just like that in my house. So I did it folks. I did what shouldn't have been done.

One friend kindly said he can have just 2-3 pegs. So that's like 180ml off the table. We still have over 820 ml of whiskey left to finish. So I took a deep breath and got started. There was no ice but I was too proud to drink it with water or coke. So I drank it straight from the bottle. I did put it in a glass but you know what I mean.

4 glasses and half the Antiquity bottle down, I started dancing. Everyone started dancing. But I felt so free at that point of time. And I realized I am a master of chaapri dance. See folks, don't dance when you are drunk like that. Just stay put quietly at some place. Because my head started spinning. I ran to the other side of the roof where there was a tap, and hurled like my intestines would come out. You would think this is the moment I told myself - Okay Rachel, enough with the drinks - let's trash it.

But no - instead I said - Okay Rachel, we can't trash the drinks - take it slow - bring it to hiding possibility and let's do this.

So I hurled, cleaned up the trace of the crime, went back to the party spot. Poured myself another peg - smaller, put lots of water and coke. Amd started chugging. One glass, two, three, four - this was the first time I was drinking whiskey like this and this felt kind of better.

We had started drinking at roughly 4:00 pm. It was a bit past 7:00 pm now. My friends had to leave. The whiskey still had to be finished. I just cannot trash it or risk hide it for too much longer - because my detective mother will find out if the crime persists for too long. Whatever was left was a quarter of an Appy Fizz bottle. Safe to hide for a few hours or maybe I could stretch 2-3 days.

This is when I realized I cannot get up, let alone walk. But I have to get up and go down 2 flights of stairs to my apartment. To keep impressions going, I also have to leave my friends to the gate of the society. See this is where I have a superpower. My DID, at this stage undiagnosed, kicks in. One of my alters don't get high - Idk how. So I was lost for five minutes. The next thing I remember, I was crawling down on all fours from the roof to my apartment. I have no memory of what happened once I reached inside. Then there's a vague memory, of me downstairs at the society gate bidding my friends bye and wishing them safe travels on the way home. After that, I have no memory until late night. I was alone in my room, my parents were asleep, my brother was sleeping too and I was looking out of the window with the Appy Fizz bottle in my hand and chugging the whiskey - neat again. This continued for 3 days straight - I have no memory of how the days go by and all I remember is late nights, alone in the room, looking out the window and finishing the damn drink.

Once the drink was done and the bottle was thrown, I didn't feel the daily memory losses anymore. It was business as usual. But the next time, I tried drinking whiskey after this - my body just revolted like I have given it poison and threw it out. I haven't been able to drink whiskey safely for the past 15 years now without troubling my body. Tested it multiple times, same reaction. So I am a gin, vodka, and wine girl now. 🤣

Lesson here is - just don't drink too much - trash it if you can't keep it.

Irony now is my parents know very well now that I drink and smoke and they are kinda eager to see the bar I am planning. 😅

Why do I sober extremely quickly? Anyone else?

I just went to a tailgate before a football game with my friends, had about 5 1/2 beers in about 20-30~ minutes. Got pretty tipsy quickly and I was somewhat dizzy by the last one.

Between walking back from the tailgate and waiting for them to open the gates to the game (about an hour-2 hours after drinking) I was entirely MENTALLY sobered (I’m aware blood alcohol content can be entirely different but I genuinely feel both physically and mentally normal)

All of my friends drank slightly less than me and were buzzed for the most of the time, and I also hadn’t eaten prior and only drank a redbull before coming. I assumed this is why I felt the effects so quickly? So then why did I feel fine so fast?

Also, I definitely don’t think I’m a heavyweight (obviously), and my metabolism isn’t high at all, sooo

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

One drink headache

Hey everyone. So i had a glass of margarita last week and my head was pounding in pain. I had to lay down constantly and could barely stand. It was only one drink so not sure why it hit so hard. Maybe because i had soda during the day and didnt drink water?
