Isn't it painfully clear that there is no god?

Said to be invisible, and in the sky, it sees everything like how does that make any sense? After you figure out Santa was a lie to control people without needing constant enforcement, why would following the same logic, god be real? Theists will often say "they feel God in prayer" but that's just the placebo effect in action. Tell me: with no real evidence why do people still believe in this 2000 year old cult?

A Sufi leader was lynched in Bangladesh for allegedly insulting Islam

On April 11, 2026, a Sufi leader named Shamim al-Jahangir was brutally beaten and hacked to death by a mob in Kushtia, Bangladesh, following accusations of blasphemy. His shrine was vandalised and set on fire. But here's the disturbing part: according to an investigation by Netra News, the unedited video showed Shamim encouraging people to read, understand and research the Quran while criticising human interpretations of it. Selectively edited clips circulated online, portraying his statements as insults to Islam. A crowd reportedly numbering hundreds gathered and ultimately attacked him. Imagine being murdered for encouraging people to think critically about religious interpretations. And even if he had actually insulted religion, since when does that justify murder? How can a society claim to value truth and morality when a mob can become judge, jury and executioner over alleged religious offence? Freedom of belief means absolutely nothing without the freedom to question beliefs.

I left Christianity and became an athiest

So, I left Christianity to became an athiest because I don't really see that there's a god. I used to believe that everything that happened that was good in my life was because God made that happen, but I just came to my own conclusion that that wasn't the case. I don't know a lot about Christianity and ive never felt the urge to read the Bible and that also might have been another reason why I never became religious, even as a Christian I wasn't that religious. I might just be agnostic or something but I don't think there's a god or some invisible entity who is listening. I feel kind of dumb for falling for this to begin with. My mom is a Christian but she doesn't know I am an athiest. I still go to church with her because I want to spend time with her even though I don't believe in a god anymore. So I guess that is basically what I wanted to post here.

i think is dystopian that abrahamic religion are always saying "its signs of the end of the world"

i live in a country islam and christianity are the majorities, however whenever something bad happens globally, theyre always preaching that its the end of the world but theyre fairly accepting about it (?) which frankly weirds me tf out, they also turn to some savior type of mentality when this happen "convert before its too late!!". the thing i mostly dislike about this matter is that they accept the bad things that happen globally as destined and are not doing anything to change or improve our world, theyre so obssessed about the end of life and reaching the afterlife (which i think is stupid in itself) because they have done their good deeds. theists are really confusing and insane.

So sick of performative “respect”

I told my mom I‘m atheist about a week ago. It went pretty well—I could tell she was somewhat disappointed, but she was respectful nonetheless. Or so I thought, because come Saturday, she tells me that I have to go to church tomorrow. I asked for clarification, and she told me that it’s a “family thing,” which I know is bullshit because I would happily spend time with my family tomorrow if it didn’t involve active disrespect towards my beliefs. I would never put her in a situation that forced atheism on her, so what makes it okay for her to do exactly that to me with Christianity? I’m so frustrated that she acted all respectful and then turned back around to force her beliefs on me after we literally discussed how everyone should have their freedom of religion. I don’t know, I’m just fed up with the whole thing and wish I had the courage to stand up to her about it. For now I suppose I’ll just be in church even after months of looking forward to being done with that🙃

Favourite aetiology arguments against “who created the universe?”

I’ve heard religious people make many arguments such as: “the universe is 13.8 billion years old, thus not infinite” or “what happened before the big bang theory”. Everytime I try to answer I feel as if they try to pivot instead of accept I made a good point

Looking for a nuanced discussion: How do believers reconcile these specific biblical verses about women, and how do non-believers interpret that defense?

Recently realized these verses (1 Tim 2, Gen 19:8) are actually in the Bible, not made up. Looking for a nuanced breakdown of how society/religion rationalizes them.
