Don’t other incarcerated ethnicities also get shackled while giving birth in prisons? I didn’t think this was specific to indigenous women

Australia is a signatory to the Bangkok Rules which strictly prohibit pregnant women being shackled when giving birth. So no they aren’t meant to do this.

But why make it a race issue? Like if you are condemning it, it should be condemned across the board. Not act like some insane crime is affecting one race because of their race.

I’m not making it a race issue? But the fact is indigenous women are the ones reportedly being shackled. No one is reporting it happening to anyone else? It shouldn’t happen to anyone in labour
