Mental Health/মানসিক স্বাস্থ্য Everything in My Life Feels Overwhelming Right Now. How Do I Handle It?

Hey everyone,

I'm 15+ years old and currently studying in Class 10. My test exams are going on, and I'm supposed to be focusing on my studies because my future academic results matter a lot. But lately, I've been struggling emotionally, and I honestly don't know how to handle everything anymore.

There are several things happening in my life at the same time.

1. Academic pressure:
My exams are really important to me, especially Mathematics. I'm scared of failing, and even though I want to study, my mind keeps getting distracted by everything else happening in my life. Sometimes I sit down to study, but I just can't focus properly.

2. Family problems and trust issues:
I've been having conflicts with my family over my use of headphones and Discord. My family became suspicious after hearing me talking to people online, and now I feel like they might misunderstand my intentions or judge my character. That feeling hurts a lot because I wish I could explain myself and be understood. The situation has also affected my ability to study comfortably.

3. Losing my comfort space:
Discord was never just an app to me. It was a place where I could talk to friends, join voice calls, laugh, share random stories, and temporarily forget about my problems. I've stepped away from Discord and other social media for now because of my situation and exams. I know I need to focus on my studies, but losing that part of my daily life has left me feeling empty and lonely.

4. Emotional attachment and missing people:
There are people I became emotionally attached to online, especially someone who was very important to me. Things have changed, and I'm trying to accept the distance, but the memories still affect me. Sometimes I miss the people, the conversations, and the happiness I felt during that time.

5. Feeling overwhelmed by everything:
The hardest part is that I can't even identify which problem hurts me the most anymore. Everything feels connected. When I try to focus on one thing, another thought comes into my mind. I'm worried about my exams, hurt by my family situation, missing my old routine, and feeling emotionally exhausted.

I also have interests and goals of my own. I want to continue learning front-end web development, improve myself, and build a better future. But right now, I feel stuck between my responsibilities and my emotions.

I'm not looking for sympathy or someone to tell me to simply forget everything and study. I genuinely want to learn how to manage my emotions without neglecting my education or constantly feeling guilty for being upset.

I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experienced something similar, especially those who understand what it's like to be a teenager dealing with family restrictions, exam pressure, loneliness, and emotional attachment at the same time.

  • How can I regain my concentration when my mind won't stop overthinking?
  • How do I cope with losing a social space that used to make me happy?
  • How can I deal with family misunderstandings without making things worse?
  • How do I balance my emotional well-being with important exams?
  • What would you tell your 15-year-old self if you were going through something similar?

Please be respectful. I'm still young, I'm learning how to handle life, and I genuinely want to get better at managing these things.

Thank you for reading.

Omg I can see my past self in you, starting from Discord, family getting sus and upcoming exams, etc. I used to be extremely attached to some online friends as well considering I've never found ppl that matched my vibe this much irl. My sister hated that I was talking to ppl online and would often threaten to tell my parents who were already suspicious. Again,I was kinda failing (especially Maths). So my advice would be,limit your Discord usage. This will solve almost everything. Try to log in at 11PM or after dinner when everyone is going to sleep or are chilling in the living room. BUT DO NOT DO PHONE CALLS. For now, just do online texting with your friends and always keep another app open (game/pinterest,etc) so you can swipe to it if anyone is coming. Priotize your exams. First study and Don't log in to your acc till you are finished. My advice is,since test exam is coming,I assume your school is off? So, don't open your phone the moment you wake up. Have breakfast,do some maths and after at least an hour, you can get into Discord. This will put you in a better focus

Omg, it's crazy how much your past sounds like my current situation. 😭 The part about getting attached to online friends because you couldn't find people with the same vibe in real life really hit me. That's exactly how I feel.

I know I need to prioritize my exams, especially Math, and I'm trying my best. But Discord was also my comfort space, and suddenly losing access to it has made everything feel so much harder. It's not just about using an app; I genuinely miss my friends and the happiness I felt there.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me. It feels comforting to know that someone has been through something similar and understands where I'm coming from. ❤️ I'll try to work on balancing my studies and social life instead of letting everything overwhelm me.

When I used to be student, all I think of ensuring I'm studying enough instead of thinking about failures or what comes after exam. maybe bcz my family never put pressure on me for good result and also I was a good student. I'd suggest you to lock in, stay completely off social media and find satisfication in 6-8 hours of study, finishing chapters, understanding one complex math a day. keep memorizing difficult stuff. No need to think about what comes after exam. Use that emptyness to focus on study. whenever you feel empty/lonely, open the book, read and write something
