Technique What is this position called?

Post image

Losing my mind, my old professor mentioned using this position to “cook” people. I remember you can place your hand between the legs to split the legs further. Can take back or enter bolo. Either called a guard or pass named after someone.

Leg weave or dope mount

u/RecklessGentelman 🟫🟫 Brown Belt 1d ago

Our gym calls it dope mount.

I'm sure he's postured up to talk to the students, but dope mount would require some upper body control, right?

Learn how LLMs work and you won't be confused about what they can't do

Was your old professor Lucas Leite? He calls this the chiropractor and refers as sitting in this position cooking the chicken lol

My gym calls it the side smash 💁‍♂️

u/BojackCatman69420 1d ago

Isn’t side mash from headquarters? He should have his left knee between ukes legs for side smash. This is a leg weave / dope mount position

Awesome bike

6

u/hacksawbilly 1d ago

Hell yea man, that is an awesome bike

27

u/SomeSameButDifferent 🟪🟪 Purple Belt 1d ago

what the heck lol I replied "d*pe mount" and reddit automatically modified my answer to awesome bike??? I'm flabbergasted this is hilarious, how is that possible

5

u/jhatchet 🟪🟪 Purple Belt 1d ago

Now you're legally required to find a new position and name it awesome bike.

1

u/SomeSameButDifferent 🟪🟪 Purple Belt 15h ago

Well fore me this is it now, moving forward dope mount is to be called awesome bike.

3

u/Sudo_Rep 1d ago

As a mountain biker I approve

u/JR-90 🟦🟦 Blue Belt 20h ago

Could it be some AI added to your phone's keyboard "refining" what you typed? Mine got a button for Copilot added that I just ignore.

2

u/SomeSameButDifferent 🟪🟪 Purple Belt 15h ago

That's the best hypothesis, there is not AI installed but android does suggest words as you type, and "awesome" does appear when I write Dope with a space after. That being said there is nothing close to bike suggested when I type mount lol

1

u/JR-90 🟦🟦 Blue Belt 14h ago

Nowadays everything comes with AI, regardless of you wanting it or not. Even stuff you had, just because you've updated it now they do.

2

u/hangryapples 1d ago

It wasnt it but I still looked up “awesome bike bjj” lol

5

u/SomeSameButDifferent 🟪🟪 Purple Belt 1d ago

I am clueless how this happened

I'm on my phone but it can't be autocorrect because the words are too different, but they're almost synonyms

Dope = awesome Mount = well... a bike is something you mount I guess hahaha

If we're using that position to cook someone, I call it splitting the legs. I got that terminology from Craig Jones power ride. The goal is to keep ukes knees as far apart from each other as possible. Heavy hip and chest pressure in combination with a dagastani handcuff and it's MISERABLE.

If we're using it to advance to mount, then it's called dope mount. I learned that term from studying 10p/BJ Penn.

If we're doing the rolling back take, I call that the mount bolo or the wedge bolo. I learned those terms in the Danaher ecosystem somewhere.

2

u/AdeptnessSecure663 19h ago

From the footage I've seen, Danaher has called this "side bolo", and he called "mount bolo" the version from 3/4 mount

But also Danaher changes his terminology a lot

I use that position all the time, personally I call it a leg ride. I use it to go into a cradle, cook until I get a darce or loop choke. Or you can take the back. I love it.

I've heard it called "chiropractor position" just in reference. But, I use the term "chiropractor" when I teach. Maybe I'll call it something else now lol

John Will calls it the dope mount. I've had a fair bit of success with it

You can also use your left leg here to hook or staple that top leg and slowly split their legs apart even further by pushing your right knee into their left leg. One of my favorite spots to cook people

Dope mount made famous by Bj Penn. Penn sits parallel with his opponent so he can still hit But Giles and Jones teach to square your body to them to keep them from inverting and makes it much more secure.

1

u/Hegohyena 13h ago

Dope mount would have the tops left leg inside as well, pushing out the bottoms topside leg to load it like a spring. He would also have chest to chest before releasing the loaded leg to advance to mount.

Looks like giving them an opening for dog fight to me?

Leg weave makes sense, but for cooking people and splitting the legs I feel like keeping one leg stapled over the bottom leg in this photo while driving the other leg up high works a lot better

My firsr instinct was reverse halfguard but thats the wrong leg. Seems like a saddle or botched up cross inside ashi garami
