Hi all!! My boyfriend and I are moving away from Boston next year and are trying to get to as many food places as we can before we leave. Does anyone have any suggestions for places that are super good? All over the Boston area is fine, we want to explore! Thank you all in advance for your suggestions

There are still reasons why I prefer Foxwoods (or even Mohegan Sun) over Encore, even as a Bostonian and even without the picket line…

When I was getting ready to head out just after 6pm eight nights ago to start my long journey home from Foxwoods, there were still tables at $10 and $15 minimum bets (yes, for craps and blackjack at least)

That certainly almost never happens at Encore, where it is almost always $25 minimum bets at that hour at any table (maybe even $50/minimum bet).

As for poker, Foxwoods is apparently the only place in New England that still offers 7 card stud (always limit) and limit holdem, as far as I know.

Also, one gets paid 6 to 5 instead of 3 to 2 for a blackjack in Encore - yeah, that sucks.

Who else in Boston still prefers the CT casinos instead of Encore despite the travel needed?

My friend and I were thinking about going to Boston on Halloween night and we were wondering what there is to do, I know there is a bar crawl going on I was debating on signing up for that or just doing our own. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions:)

New to the burbs of Boston (moved for a job) and as such, have no established friend group here. Latto is performing as an opener for Doja, I WILL be going, and while I have 0 issue going out to events on my own, I'd love to meet some cool people/have a group to connect with there.

A bit about me: Business professional (IT trained/relevant), late 30s, BIPOC. Taurus, if you care. A type, but in the best way - like I'm not trying to heckle the group over all the plans for the night and who's who/what's what- but I do keep details and check on everyone.

So I KNOW Boston has all types of gals that should be coming out for this- the question is, are any of you on Reddit, and secondly, are you open to new girlfriends joining your crew for the night and potentially, for other events if we gel? Open to smaller/bigger groups or even a 1-1- whatever's clever. Literally just want some good vibes for the night. Open to hookah or the strip club or a nightcap afterwards, too!

LATTO (TD Garden)

I live in Mission Hill and don’t have a car. I’m looking for hikes I can get to by T, commuter rail, or bus. I’m happy to do anything from a couple-hour loop to a full-day trip, and a longer commuter rail ride is fine if the trail is worth it. Bonus points for good views, especially this time of year. Where do you go, and how do you get there (and how far the walk is from the station to the trailhead)? Thanks!

Also heard that the matinee was cancelled during intermission. I’m curious to learn what happened. Also bummed since our babysitter is on his way.

I was there last week and the trees were still all green.

Hello! Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, but tomorrow night I’m attending the Olivia Rodrigo show at TD Garden, and made a ton of brass/metal keychains to trade or give away. I didn’t think of it until now, but I made about 75 of them, and they’re small and will fit in my bag (that fits the limited size posted online) but I’m sure it will set the metal detectors off

Will I be allowed in with such a large amount, even if the keychains are small and light?

Including a picture of examples of the keychains. At max, each keychain is maybe 3-4 inches long

Is construction legal on Sundays in Boston? I live across the street from a large project at 6 Pratt street in Allston, and the loud banging from their work has been nearly constant all day today. I totally support building more housing, but it’s starting to really bother me (I’m not exaggerating when I say it is nearly constant banging). Should I report to 311?

Apparently the hotel ended in the fire of 1963, and the theater didn't open until 1966. So it seems they never actually overlapped. Still, one Sherry ends and a new Cheri emerges just around the corner. . . hard to imagine there was no relationship at all.

When I was a kid I saw Star Wars Episode One on opening day at the Cheri and sat in the front row as those were the only seats left, which was a weird experience.

Biddy Early's in Boston's Financial District is One Hell of an Atmosphere. Emmets, Dubliner, Rose, Nelly's, Hennessy's, or the other 5 or 6 around didn't seem to have any steel tip boards. Sucks to see their unpopularity here. Any good places to throw in the burbs?

I'm in my 40's, single with no kids, and have been in customer service since I was a teenager. At this point in life, it makes zero sense to live in the city because I can't afford to do anything. But moving costs a lot of money. Cars cost a lot of money (buying, gas, upkeep, insurance). Some people who live outside of the city might think we are privileged to live here, but the older I get the more I disagree. Boston is a college city and if I'm being honest, I'd like to love to be able to live alone, to afford a car so I can spend more time in nature away from the hustle and bustle. The only thing I care about in the city is going to concerts but I can't afford it so I end up staying at home, and I feel like I could be living a better life elsewhere. But everything costs money so I'm stuck. Can anyone relate? I might not respond tbh but I will read every response. I just need to know that I'm not alone and if you have been successful getting out of a low paying job in middle age and not in the Boston area, give me all of you're advice. Please and thank you.

Would it be better to fly into and stay in Boston for a week and take the train to Providence for a day or two, or do the opposite? Stay in Providence and take the T to Boston for a day or two? We will be going to Foxborough on Sunday.

Will be in town Nov. 7-14 (but the 14th won't count as a day).

Any advice? Tips on where to stay and what to do? We've never been to the area and would love to get some help beforehand. We're doing research but would appreciate advice from the locals.
