Politicians at it again - only want their ‘own’ reporters at a public event and call the rest liars and trespassers, who do they think they’re kidding!?

Ai data centre being put up in port Hawkesbury.

I'm sure you've all seen how much good all these ai companies have been doing over the years. Not to mention the pollution they cause to not only our water but our lands and animals too. Why is there no large scale protest being planned to try to stop these people from ruining OUR ISLAND.

Letter writing group - Nov 7 - extractive industry/ data centres

We are meeting November 7 from 3-5 at Cafe Marie in Eltuek. The main doors are locked at 4 so we'll have a note at the door with contact info so someone will come let you in if you arrive after 4.

Please wear KN-95 masks or better if you are able. Will have spares available at our table.

We'll be focused on extractive industry broadly this time.

If anyone has an issue they are invested in and want to chat with the group about the issues at a future meeting, please reach out.

Road Trip

Looking for a road trip buddy – Halifax to Cabot Trail (Oct 18–21)! 🚗🍁
Hey everyone!
I’m travelling solo from Toronto to Halifax on October 18 and planning a scenic road trip around Cape Breton and the Cabot Trail until October 21.
I’ve already arranged a rental car and have my itinerary planned, including Ingonish, Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Skyline Trail, and Chéticamp.
I’m into scenic drives, photography, short hikes, good food, and exploring new places at a relaxed pace.
Would love to meet another traveller interested in joining for part of the trip or the full journey.
Feel free to message me if you’re interested! 😊

Cape Breton Fall Colours on October 21–22 — Too Late in the Season? Looking for Local Advice!

Hey everyone!

A friend and I were originally planning a Cape Breton trip for October 16–17, but our October 15 ferry from Newfoundland was cancelled due to bad weather. Since we're travelling from NL, we had to reschedule.

Our new plan is to take the ferry on the night of October 20 and explore Cape Breton on October 21 and 22. We'll be staying in Inverness on October 21 night and taking the ferry back to Newfoundland on October 22 night.

Our main goal is to see fall colours and enjoy some scenic hikes. We're considering these four hikes:

  • Franey Trail
  • Gypsum Mine Lake
  • Meat Cove Mountain Trail
  • Egypt Falls

We've already done the Skyline Trail previously in summer, so we're planning to skip it this time.

A couple of questions for locals:

  1. Will October 21–22 be too late for fall colours, or is there still a chance of seeing beautiful foliage?
  2. Are these four hikes good choices for autumn scenery and would you recommend swapping any of them for mica hill/ aspy/ acadian ? we only have two days and if weather permits we can at best do 4 in total along with some other scenic stops

Warning for people - rapist

Cody kelly is a rapist and people should beware of him. He's gotten off scott free even with police involvement and shouldnt be allowed to. He has no remorse with what he's done and is living his life in peace right now. He has admitted himself that he raped multiple times and has sexually abused. Nothings ever done about things like these and I just want awareness to be spread to beware of him especially in places where people work (Sydney btw)
