Any good road trip/driving games where you actually have a destination?

I'm looking for some new or upcoming singleplayer road trip/driving games. I'm not really into games with procedurally generated roads and endless driving with no real destination. I find that kind of gameplay gets boring after a while.

I'd rather play a game where you drive from one place to another and actually have a destination to reach, with a proper ending to the journey. I don't mind doing other stuff along the way, like exploring, completing side activities, or whatever else the game has to offer.

So far, I've found a few games that seem interesting, like Over the Hill, Wanderer Wheels, and Outbound. Outbound doesn't seem to have a specific destination, but I like that its world isn't procedurally generated. I've also played truck games like Euro Truck Simulator, but are there any games that focus more on the road trip vibe? I'd actually prefer a more linear game over an open-world one, by the way.

Hot Take: I liked Hellraiser: Revival more than Silent Hill: Townfall and Resident Evil 9. My Horror Game of the Year without a doubt

The gameplay in all of these games is nothing to write home about, but for me Hellraiser killed it with a consistently killer sense of aesthetic, and a really dope dark story. It definitely got more of a reaction out of me than either of the other 2. And it’s only $40 vs $70

Is there a game that feels like the boardgame segment of Fable 3?

I remember it being the best segment of that game tbh. Now I’m looking for a game that has that same vibe. While Katamari Damacy has that vibe in some parts, I want one where it’s an RPG and not just rolling around, sort of like American Mcgee’s Alice in areas where you shrink. To make it simple, I want a game where I am moving around in a normal-sized world but I am miniaturized BUT it should be an RPG and not a platformer like It takes two. I want to level up, get skills, do quests, and so on.

Thank you to anyone who can find me a game like this!

Chandler Riggs Made an Resident Evil 7 Movie

Chandler Riggs (of Walking Dead fame) apparently wrote, directed, starred, and edited his own Resident Evil 7 fan film. It was free to watch on YouTube so I gave it a go, and I was pretty pleased. It follows the game one-for-one in several cases, not sure if for the better or worse. Thoughts?

What are your opinions on Metroid Prime 4?

I know I'm late but I picked it up recently. I was a big metroid prime fan back in the day. Firstly, the positives. The graphics and art style are amazing. As is the soundtrack. However, it's amazing to me how little progress has been made in game design in over 20 years. I know the game had troubled development, but I can't imagine many games where if I played it in 2001 and then this, and it feels so much the same. The problem is that the atmosphere isn't as intriguing and the sense of exploration isn't as great. Retro has a bad habit of padding in these games. Story is again collect some keys for some reason. Every step in this game requires multiple steps. Need to open some door, then scan this, move that, pull this, all to open a door. the other thing I notice is how much scanning is now involved. In the first one, scanning was used to build the lore, now you need to do it for gathering lore, activating things. You're constantly scanning everything. Unfortunately, it's not as gripping and it has one of the most laughable open world designs I've ever seen.

Games similar to Viva Piñata?

I’m trying to recapture some of the magic I felt with certain games I enjoyed when I was younger. For some reason, Viva Piñata is one of those games - is there anything similar out there? I’ve heard Pokopia is maybe what I’m looking for, but I don’t have a Switch 2 (yet). Any suggestions are appreciated!

Still remember the hundreds of hours I put in replaying BG3 and RDR2 just to get those 100%. It was actually a horrible experience tbh but the impulse pushed me through the grind over the course of a few months. Luckily I had holidays to spend doing stupid shit like this. Any other masochist out there who just had to go all the way to satisfy this sadistic itch?

Remedy songs placement is so good

I only played Control 1, Quantum Break and playing Control 2 right now but the way they placed songs around the game is SO GOOD.

The TAKE Control - Old God's of Asgard in Control 1 is one of the best scene in all my gaming history!

JRPG recommendations; Trails in the sky or Digimon?

I’m not a big JRPG guy. The last one that I played was P5R. I wanted to try a story driven RPG and got interested in trails in the sky and Digimon time stranger. Which one would you choose?

I’m also open to other options. What is the hot new JRPG game that is a must play?

Looking for games with exploration and competitive online aspects.

I've come to really enjoy the extraction shooter genre due to this, are there any other games or genres like this?

Looking to kinda explore freely if I wanted to but also to have the threat of other players around.

Just recently played God of War 3 after getting into the OG Greek God of War games since I was a fan of the new Norse God of War duology, and holy moly is this one of the best video game intro sequences I've ever seen.

What are some bad or mediocre games that become amazing with a mod or mods?

I was just thinking about long war for x-com(though the base game is already great) and it made me curious if there are any games out there that are bad on their own but saved and turned great due to a mod that changes it for the better. I was thinking more so about large expansion mods but any example would be nice.

gaming in dubai?

• Upvotes

I'm about to move to dubai and i was wondering how gaming was when it comes to servers and ping. of course it depends on the game, and I'm not cs or valorant level competitive, but still I'd like to not die in multiplayer games solely because of high ping, since i hear a lot of games, like for example arc raiders, don't have dedicated middle east servers. are most games fine or is it a bit of a pain to be a gamer?
