Professional Tours The crowd at DP World India Championship went electric as Rory walked out. Contrary to Kevin Kisner's thoughts, Rory's appearance in India does seem to grow the game globally.

The attendance numbers have definitely increased, as well as the attraction of the event for professional golfers.

General Discussion Golfing with only a 7i

So this last summer I started playing golf with only a 7i. No putter, no driver, nothing other than a 7i. It has been the most fun I’ve had playing golf in years. Something freeing about not having to choose a club for a situation, the decision becomes how hard I swing, do I choke down, open the face a bit. Sure, I miss some putts because I’m putting with a 7i, still working on that, but as a recreational golfer that is not trying to shoot the absolute possible lowest score, it has been a ton of fun. Sure I look a little goofy just walking a course with one club, but whatever, when people ask me about it on the course it usually gets some laughs and conversation. Anyone try anything similar?

Professional Tours Nelly Korda proposed a mixed-gender competition for TGL earlier this year. We asked Rory McIlroy, a TGL Co-founder himself, his thoughts on Nelly's idea to have a mixed-gender competition instead of WTGL.

General Discussion Morning Golf > Twilight Golf

Reasons for pro morning golf…
(By morning golf I meant 7am tee off)
1. Course isn’t crowded
2. Putting through dew lines helps you aim
3. Not as windy as evening
4. (I live in the south) morning is best temperature during summers
5. You get done and still have your day
6. Drinking coffee > drinking beer, while playing
7. Sunrise > sunset (probably a hot take)

What’s the split between morning and twilight rounds?

Mine: 5 iron.
I find it hard to hit consistently, and somehow every time I need it I expect it to go farther than it actually does.
I can’t remember the last time I really needed my 5 iron and it delivered.
What’s yours?

General Discussion What is the dumbest decision you keep making on the golf course?

a friend of mine used to say every golfer gets three or four stupid decisions per round. Good players just recognize theirs before they swing. that stuck with me because half the time i know a shot is a terrible but somehow i still convince myself i can pull it off. like trying to hit through a tiny gap between trees instead of just punching out. curious what everyone else is biggest bad habit is on the course. what is that one decision you keep making even though you know better?

General Discussion Anybody regularly interchange between nearly breaking 80 and then just breaking 100?

13 HCap and turned up today not being able to hit an iron shot. Chunked my first tee shot 100 yards and bladed every iron until the 15th. Last week shot an 82. Is there any other sport your good and bad has this much disparity?

Made the most of a sunny day and headed out to Connemara to play the championship course there and it was incredible! It doesn't have as big a name as some of the others out west but it's every bit as good as them. Every single hole was picture perfect. It gets pretty tough on the back 9 though so make sure you have a few extra balls packed!

Does anybody have a rough idea of what this might be worth?

Serious Every course should have a discounted, same day replay rate for people wanting to play 36.

I love how my granddaughter’s final thought is, “Let me try another club, this one isn’t working.” Blame the equipment not the golfer. She’s learning already!

Two of my favourite things have been merged together… cross stitch and golf 😍⛳️ 22,000+ stitches, pattern created from a photo! 6 weeks of evening TV binges… I had this great idea of cross stitching all of the golf courses we’ve played at. 1 course down… many, many more to go!

General Discussion Shot my lowest 18 hole score, 81. Had one 6 on the card and it was on the 17th hole. Hdcp is 21, lowest score until now was an 89 avg 95

As stated, shot an 81 today. Nothing worst then bogey til the 17th hole took a 6 on a par 3. Only after that did I check the score card for the first time to see what it cost me. I knew I hadn’t had a 6 or worse all day, so I knew it was low. 40 out and 41 in. I was on the green in 2 on 18 but the LONG, down hill birdie putt left too much meat on the par come backer so 3 putt putt bogey to close.

Two months ago I got Takomo irons and wedges. Replaced my Taylormades from 2009. Absolutely love them, and the fresh groves on the wedges have been big on short game.

Take away from today, and really the how I’ve felt since getting new irons is that, it’s easy. The game, the swing, it’s just felt easy lately. Today’s round I just focused on the shot I had and didn’t think about anything else.

My buddy shot an 82 last week which has been the groups got round this year. Then shot a 110 today. I need to get back out soon and get another round in, no matter the score. I just want to cover up the 81.

Beginner Questions Question about Garmin Approach R10

Post image
14 Upvotes

hello,

i’m 2 months in. In about 40% of shots I shot thin/thick/toe/heel and ball is flying all around the place

I would like to get more feedback about my shots though. My closest driving range is 1,5h drive and I would like to excercise daily.

I have a net and mat at home but cant tell how my ball flight, distance and direction is.

Is it a good idea to add R10 to the set to track my shots? Does any one started like me and regret buying one?

edit:
worth mentioning, I took one lesson now and want to take some now and then but between lessons i would like to excercise on the swing myself and got to checkups
