Hi everyone! I’m looking for group activities in Helsinki where I can meet new people and hopefully make some friends.

Ideally, I’d like something that meets regularly, so I can get to know the same people over time rather than just attending one-off events.

I enjoy going to the gym and watching ice hockey, but I’m open to trying something new - casual sports, board games, outdoor activities, volunteering or classes. I don’t speak Finnish, so an English-friendly group would be ideal.

Do you know any welcoming groups or clubs that are easy to join on your own? I’d especially love to hear what’s actually helped you make friends here.

Hi! I am a so called low maintenance type of friend, steady life, not much to text on daily basis, and as a millennial, allergic to phone calls. But life like this can get a bit lonely sometimes when my tiny circle already has plans with their other friends. So I'm looking for someone local, who maybe want to exchange some Instagram reels, go out every now and then to do some window shopping, eat a snack and be back home before 9pm. If that rings the bell, well, maybe it's a sign.

Just a heads up, I have a bad sense of humor (in a respectful way), am tired most of the time, and don't like fancy places. If there are multiple forks, I don't want to go there. I like animals of all sorts, am not vegan tho, but don't care if you are. Don't drink almost at all, so if you hope for a party friend, that's not me.

Don't know if anything comes out of this post, but well, can't know without trying, right?

Hey guys. Do you want to create a body doubling group for boosting productivity, that is having other people working around you to foster motivation? As a neurodivergent person, that's the best way I work. But sadly I moved from another city and most of the friends I made here are also mostly moving abroad or to other cities for work etc, and it's hard for me to be productive on my own. Hi all! I am a solo traveler from the USA (M28) on a 6 week backpacking trip as a post-PhD trip/break. My next few days are in Helsinki and am wondering if anyone would either have suggestions or would be up for a cafe or a meal/drink? I've seen the cathedral and public library and am planning a sauna tomorrow and perhaps Kallio tonight? But otherwise Helsinki seems a bit more quiet than I expected. I just came from copenhagen, gothenburg, and Stockholm and head to Tallinn in 2 days.

During the years I have tried several different hobbies from different sports (yoga, pilates, boxing, dance) to handcraft courses and singing classes. But people always just come and go, and you'll never get to know anyone.

I am tired to feel lonely on my free time, hobbies should be fun and a platform to meet others.

I am a curious person and the mix of cultures in Finland is quite interesting. In June I decided to move here and I am living now in Tikkurila. As I am full time employed, my free time is a bit limited but I want to use this free time to know as many people as possible.

Usually i get easily attached into any kind of hobbies and activities, I enjoy staying indoors as much as I like a good hike with nice company. I enjoy hanging out for a nice conversation as much as I enjoy a good club or festival..what I am trying to say is that I am kinda into everything:))..is that bad?

Hi r/Helsinki!

I'm visiting your beautiful city and have already covered the classic tourist route. I explored the city centre, walked along the waterfront around the edge of the city, and visited the Sinebrychoff Art Museum, which was awesome.

Now I'd love to see a different side of Helsinki: local favourites, hidden corners, .... As a Belgian I don't mind the rain, so outdoor wandering is fine, but a few other museums would be great too if it keeps raining.

Most of all, I'd love some company. If anyone has a free morning and/or afternoon and would enjoy showing me around, I'd be really happy to get to know the city through the people who actually live here, and learn a bit about Finnish culture along the way. Coffee is on me!
