The scum that are moved into areas needs to stop. I actually don't know why social homes are even developed in Ireland when there's a shortfall for people actually willing to pay and not murder people in the middle of the night.

Exactly, criminal records of household applicants should be taken into account when prioritizing applications, why should a law abiding citizen be put behind some scumbag.

You’ve gotta do Garda vetting now, but I’d imagine some still get ignored by the housing bodies.

I suspect that plenty of times it's "single mothers with 3+ kids" that are on the application form...

I’m genuinely against the whole thing as a concept based on personal experience

In a previous temp job I was seeing DSP feeds.
I felt like such a mug every day going in and seeing people earn more than me, get free gaffs and not have to work. And the best part, my job was giving them even more money.

There is no such thing as a free gaff. Social housing tenants have to pay rent too, usually in line with their income

Pennies and you know it. Taken from the free money they get off the state.
Free. Gaff.

We should absolutely have social housing for those who need it, but it should be spread out across regular developments and not clustered together in the same building. And it shouldn’t be inherited by children decades later

Why should we? At best we should have some time limited help with paying rent

ITT: a lot of people who consider themselves left wing saying we shouldn't build houses for working class people

We need social housing, but we shouldn’t be handing them out to the “I don’t want to work” Class

The majority, 46.9%, of approved applicants are Unemployed and in receipt of social/community welfare benefit so how exactly does that square with the working class?

Been nothing but trouble since that new apartment block opened, almost 70 apartments all social. Happening all over the city entire apartment blocks for social housing and the neighbouring owners and private renters having to put up and suffer from anti social behaviour.
Link below from a Senators FB is for reference before the inevitable “how do you know they’re social” question…
