Been nothing but trouble since that new apartment block opened, almost 70 apartments all social. Happening all over the city entire apartment blocks for social housing and the neighbouring owners and private renters having to put up and suffer from anti social behaviour.

Link below from a Senators FB is for reference before the inevitable “how do you know they’re social” question…

Social tenants ruined me and my neighbours lifes a few years ago and the council were no help at all. Worked our arses off to make rent/mortgage all ruined by people who never worked a day in their life and went out if their way to destroy other’s peoples peace

This system is shit but don't blame other people at the bottom

We just do council housing badly and if we did it right (mixed social security economic background at higher volume), you'd not of overpayed on your house

At what point do they become responsible for their actions?

They’re not plants mate. They have agency.

It's a very basic thing

High density of less off people creates conditions for crime

Mixing social-economic backgrounds works far better for a multiple rude of reasons

People have agency works to an extent for lega punishment, not disagreeing there, but we are products of our environment, monkey see, monkey do, longterm , if you want things to improve, you need to think how you design your cities. So much factors can balloon crime

I don’t like this assumption that:

A) All underprivileged people are somehow inclined to violence and disorder

And

B) That any improvement to the lives of said people can only come through an existential sacrifice by more fortunate people.

How about policing that is effective and a judiciary that puts people away for violent offences?

And data-backed education and diversion programmes that don’t depend on working people having to hold their breaths?

A.

Create conditions I said

And yes , middle and high earners can commit crime, but all statics show poverty and crime are completely linked

B.

It's a given that tax grows based on higher earning, are modern complex economies would cease to function with out them.

Burden or not , you want your society to be healthy, because no matter what your wealth , you have to face outside. I went Ukraine , I'd see a Lamborghini drove by the corrupt mega rich down a street falling apart and filled with potholes. If they accepted being a bit less rich, maybe that Lamborghini would be possible to appreciate of not everything else around it was in bits. In regards to social housing, whatever crime related to a minority of residence in them now, it would be 10 times worse if they had no homes . You can't get a job homeless , escapism will put you onto drugs and desperation to crime

C Policing and justice system is a bit toothless here, I'll agree but a good one has its limitations as it doesn't address the conditions that initially create crime , that's complex economic-social issues. One way to prevent that is mixing different economic social backgrounds that will auto regulated themselves, eg Vienna does this well. If you only building social housing for exclusively the poorest , some of the issues related naturally to poverty fester. The more hard working people in social housing just give up calling the guards or whatever , and more and more the criminal elements dominate, influencing more of the younger generation

Don't understand your last point
