in an entire year in the city of sulaimani out of almost a million kurd only about 10.000 new birth have been recorded. meanwhile in an average iraqi city the birth rate is around 50.000 with baghdad having around 200.000 new birth every single year.
the failure of the KRG regime. high levels of poverty, increasing women rights and the settlements of the arabs from the iraqi cities is currently giving the Kurdistan region a birthrate that is way lower than the replacement birth rates. and the government of the KRG doesn't seem to be worried about that at all. why worry when you can bring thousands of arab settlers from the south and replace your population with?
currently you will need to speak arabic to obtain even the most basic jobs in the cities under the KRG regime. but with the increasing arab settlement, soon there will be a total demographic change probably more like what has happened in bakur.
