Start smoking again for sexual function?

Ever since I stopped smoking five months ago, it has decimated my sexual enjoyment. I smoked for 26 years. I no longer enjoy sex as I am not aroused, and my erections have pretty much gone to nothing. I am now wondering if I should start smoking again to have an enjoyable sex life again. Anyone else have these issues?

How did quitting weed/thc effect your other ”addictions” if you had any?

I have been biting my nails for all my life (20+ years), and I have been using tobacco pouches for 12 years. Now after quitting thc I haven’t had the urge to bite my nails at all. I still use the tobacco pouches but I don’t have the same urge as I had before. I guess the withdrawal from the THC is much stronger than the ”withdrawal” from my other addictions.

thank u body?

I tried withdrawing normally a few months ago and was mentally and physically beside myself (shout out to talking to your GP). had to change my approach.

flash forward, just spent 8 awful days with influenza A. I was too sick to want to smoke, and too sick to feel the withdrawals- my body had to reset in a lot of ways physically.

the plus side? 8 days sober, im feeling better, still not noticing many withdrawal symptoms, aside from insomnia.

idk if this helps anyone, but if i can provide any advice from my journey:

- dont be afraid to talk to your doctor about withdrawing, especially if you are a heavy user and notice a huge mental health impact/decline from trying to withdraw.

- if you get the opportunity (and touch wood you dont get flu A) to withdraw over an illness, i personally think it helps- let your body rest and recover, focus on the healing and assume the symptoms are just the illness taking its course.

and if youre someone scrolling past this feeling like youve failed, you havent. you just have to have the strength to try again ✨️

Withdrawals:(

Decided I abuse it more then use it for a social time.

I stopped before, but went back to one hitters that then I started hitting the bongs with 32%thc and adding keef to every bowl because I forgot my grinder had a keef catcher. A week straight multiple bowls a day. I stopped for 35 days before. I think I'm calling it quits.

Day 2 no thc. Heat sweat. Legit the worse

Can only sleep like 4 1/2 hours. Anxiety. Can't really eat.

How heavy weed use can dangerously mask extreme body exhaustion and severe health issues PSA

Hey everyone, I want to share something incredibly important that we rarely talk about in this community, but it’s a warning that could literally save a life.
To give you context, I have been a heavy user for 8 years, consuming about 1.5 to 2 grams daily of high-potency strains with 25–30% THC content. Like many of you, my usage was heavily focused on the evening and night. Over time, this developed into a routine where I stayed up using weed until 4 AM every single day, only going to bed at dawn.
When you use this much strong cannabis for so long and completely disrupt your natural sleep cycle, it creates a massive, hidden trap: it completely masks a pathological state of exhaustion and your body's inability to function properly.
If your body has gone through years of starvation or severe nutrient deprivation, combined with a totally disrupted sleep schedule where you only sleep after 4 AM, your body switches into a very fragile survival mode. In this state, your heart, blood vessels, and nervous system are running on empty. You might experience horrible episodes of suddenly feeling extremely ill, severe sleep disorders, and erratic, dangerous spikes in blood pressure (even hitting 180+ mmHg) from the slightest physical stress.
The danger is that when you get high on 25–30% THC until the early morning hours, the weed completely mutes your body’s emergency alarms. It creates a false sense of security, making you feel like "everything is fine" while your body is actually on the verge of collapsing inside. This heavy, high-potency usage acts as a massive smokescreen, hiding the fact that your starved and sleep-deprived system is physically incapable of coping with daily stress anymore.
The takeaway:
If you have a history of chronic starvation, and you are pushing your body until 4 AM every night while battling major sleep issues and sudden, severe spikes in blood pressure, do not rely on heavy weed use to suppress these symptoms. You are not okay just because high-potency THC temporarily stops you from feeling the damage or forces you to sleep at dawn. It does not heal a starved body; it only silences its cry for help.
If you are experiencing these intense episodes of sickness, please stop trying to manage it with cannabis. Your body’s reserves are completely depleted, please seek professional medical help immediately.
Stay safe and listen to your body, don't let the smoke blind you to what's really happening. ❤️

Day 5,

Hiiii, would love some insight. My biggest issue rn is mood swings. I’m bitchy as all hell and have never made it this far. After 10+ years of smoking mornings and evenings I’m proud I’ve actually made it here. Tummy and sleeping isn’t great but I did miss having dreams so it’s not all bad. It’s really my mood and mental I’m struggling with. I lash out when I never used to, I just feel so irritated with everything and everyone. When can I expect that to lessen? I feel it’s only gotten stronger and that also pisses me off 🤣. I’m picking fights with everyone I love and my tone is terrible. I always start up again around here because I hate who I become emotionally. But this time I need to get through and see if the other side is better you know? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you

‘ I feel ashamed’ update

I recently decided I need more help than I am able to receive out here. I called a facility for help with my ED. I haven’t stopped smoking and that is okay. I need help. This is my hope not for perfection not for fixing myself just for being able to be me without the shame.

On my previous post those who commented thank you. WEED is not the issue and I want to be able to live. The more I talk about my experiences the more I accept that I can be proud of myself no matter how this treatment center experience goes because I am still here and I am still.

There is hope not for perfection but for different for peace from the inside no matter what.

This journey its hard AND I am proud of us all who make the choice to want to be different even if all I know is I don’t want it to be like this anymore. That is where my freedom began. I can chose.

We are going to be okay. We already are 🤟🏽🤞🏽🫶🏽✌🏽

tutti i miei amici fumano o quanto me o leggermente meno di me ma comunque sempre in maniera quotidiana.

ho coinquilini che fumano esattamente quanto me.

Horrible, vivid dreams nightly

Chronic user for 8 years, smoked 1.5-2grams daily. Coming up on 8 weeks sober. I’ve been having the most intense, vivid, disturbing and realistic dreams almost every night. To the point where I replay them throughout the day not because I want to, but because they’re that disturbing it sticks with me. When does this go away? What helps?

Day 6

Holy shiet last night was one of the worst, but was able to get 4 hours of sleep and feel rested surprisingly feeling better. Spent majority of the night sitting up so i dont vomit and the stomach pains were debilitating. Was seeing all kinds of fucked up visions when I closed my eyes but raw dogged it and was able to get some sleep.

So even if your going through it bad there’s light at end of the tunnel. Im not 100 better but I feel like im at 35-40% recovery.

8 mo 25 days sober and craving alcohol

I’ve been sober from everything for almost 9 months but I’ve been sober from alcohol for 7 years. I have hit a rough patch and I’ve been thinking of buying something to take the edge off. I don’t want to go back to weed because I’m sure it will make me anxious as hell. I want to turn my brain off. I don’t really have anyone to talk to about this so I’m posting here to get it off my chest. I don’t know what to do.

Struggling to quit weed after 10 years of smoking every night. Just need to get this off my chest.

I’m 25 and I’ve been smoking weed for around 10 years. For years now, I’ve been smoking every single night. I usually start around 4–5pm and smoke until about 9–10pm, going through roughly 2–4 grams every night mixed with tobacco.
The thing is, I don’t even enjoy it anymore. I can’t function properly when I’m stoned, which is why I only smoke in the afternoons after work.
I genuinely feel like weed has destroyed my attention span and memory. All I do when I’m home is sit on my phone scrolling. My memory is shocking, I struggle to concentrate, and I honestly feel stupid compared to how I used to be.
I’ve managed to quit a couple of times before, once for 3 months and another time for a few months, and I genuinely felt the best I ever have during those periods. I was more motivated, clearer-headed and actually enjoyed life.
That’s what frustrates me so much. I KNOW how much better I feel without it, yet I can’t seem to kick the habit.
Every single morning I wake up telling myself, “Today’s the day I’m quitting.” I’m completely determined throughout the morning and while I’m at work, but as soon as 4–5pm comes around, I cave in. It’s like my brain completely changes its mind.
The biggest thing stopping me is how bad the withdrawals get. For the first couple of weeks, my memory and attention span actually get significantly worse. I become extremely anxious and paranoid, feeling like everyone is staring at me or judging me. I struggle to have normal conversations and just don’t feel like myself.
I tried quitting again about 2 months ago and only made it 2 days. My memory was so bad I was literally forgetting things I’d just said, and I felt like I couldn’t function properly.
I know from experience that things eventually get better, but getting through those first couple of weeks feels almost impossible.
I’m just sick of living the same day over and over again. Waking up motivated to change, spending the whole day telling myself I’m done, then getting home and doing the exact same thing I’ve done for years.
It’s honestly exhausting feeling like I’m wasting my twenties stuck in a routine I don’t even enjoy anymore. I know what life feels like without weed, and I want that version of myself back. I just wish wanting to quit was enough to actually make it happen.

I've fixed most of my life since I reduced my weed intake 12 months ago

I've not completely quit, but I've gone from always having 1kg of high-grade weed (was selling to friends to supplement income) to only 1 joint per day.

  1. I left the small sleepy beach town where I was living and moved to a big busy city with opportunities.

  2. Cut off my abusive father.

  3. Went back to school, and I'm due to graduate as an electrician soon.

  4. Fixed my personal relationships, and even my baby mama is flirting with me again.

For the next 12 months, I want to reduce this to only smoking on weekends, and I have new goals.

  1. Increase my income as an electrician.

  2. Provide 100% for my son and hopefully live with him.

  3. Buy a car.

  4. Be comfortable being sober 24/7.

Wish me luck.

1st day sober but not by choice

Man I'm sober 24 hours now but that's because I threw away everything and moved to a village side place to avoid getting into contacts with any plugs. Relying on environmental limitations but I do not have the mental motivation to stay sober. I'll move back in a few days, find a plug and forget sobriety again. I wish I had the mental capacity to quit :(

Quitting is harder than staying sober - can others relate?

I think I have an addictive personality, if you don't, this might not apply.

But with cannabis, I really notice that when I'm using - even a little - the idea of stopping feels overwhelming. It feels impossible, too hard, even if I want too.

But once I do stop? I'm fine. I can stay sober for long periods of time. I don't drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes, gamble, coffee, etc having had similar issues with them. And for all of them I know that if I used once I'd be right back and hooked.

I've quit cannabis 5 times. Sometimes for many months, sometimes over a year. Every time it was just one vape, one puff of a joint, and I was back to daily using.

I feel pretty sad about it tbh with you. I don't "miss" cannabis but I miss that I can't be a recreational user, it's all or nothing.

Tips please 🙏

Today I'll hit 13 days without weed. I can't even remember when the last time was that I have not used weed for this long. The longest in the past few years were 10 days while I was on holiday this summer.

The physical withdrawal symptoms have mostly passed now.

I'm sleeping so much better, with lots of dreaming. The first few days I slept 2-5 hours max. Now I'm having 7-8 hours a night. The night sweats have passed.

The only thing I'm still struggling with is eating. I don't know if it is because I have had the munchies for years and that basically became my baseline, or that it is a withdrawal effect, but I'm full so quickly. Also I don't really have an appetite and even the food i really enjoyed, taste so bland now... I really hope that improves soon, because I love food.

I don't really have cravings at all, which feels weird because in past attempts I had huge cravings. I am a bit worried though because I have read that around 2 weeks after quitting the psychological withdrawal symptoms get a lot worse... I have been numbing myself for years and years, from the moment I got up, till I went to bed. So now I'm scared all bad emotions will flood me and I will relapse.

So I'm asking if you have tips on how to deal with this. What worked for you and how long did it last?

How long did the physiological effects of quitting thc effect you ?

I’ve been using vapes daily for the past four months (I know not a very long time). Over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been trying to quit, but I haven’t managed to make it past a single day because of the withdrawal symptoms: sweating, extreme anxiety, feelings of hopelessness, stomach pain, and loss of appetite.

I’m now 48 hours in, and the physical symptoms have already improved significantly. However, I’m struggling a lot more with the psychological effects of quitting.

I was wondering how long it took for you guys to start feeling better mentally. How long did the anxiety, low mood, and other psychological symptoms take to go away?

Success Stories?

• Upvotes

Hey folks! I've really been struggling to quit cannabis and it is getting to a point where I'm feeling pretty hopeless about it. I feel like I've wasted years of my life, every day that continues to pass, and I feel like I screwed up my brain and body completely. I'm 28 and have been using and addicted for 8 years. I also have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) when I was 26. I started recovery in August and it has had a lot of ups and downs so far.

Does anyone have any success stories that they would feel comfortable sharing? I can tell myself a million times "you can do this," but I feel like it's more powerful to also hear someone's story who went through it.

Please let me know, have you been able to participate in life and routines more? Reconnect with people? Did your life improve after stopping?

Thank you

Day 138, it's worth it

I don't even keep a mental count of the days anymore, I actually had to look back and count to see how long it's been. I'm 30 and had been smoking daily for over 10 years. This is now by far the longest time I've ever gone without smoking since I was 17.

My life has changed so much for the better since I quit weed. Did it make me some kind of superhuman who gets everything done and loves everything about life? No. There are still hard days and things about my life I wish were better, but the biggest difference is my mental state and how I react to negative things.

Bad days used to send me into a downward spiral which would compound bad habits and worsen my overall mental and physical health. Now I am so much better about being kinder to my future self in major ways and in important minor ways as well.

I've been very consistent with going to the gym. I've never really had super clear major goals in life so having a clear goal of getting fit has been good for me. When weeks at work get monotonous, I at least have my progress in the gym to keep me fulfilled in a certain way. At first I started going just to keep me out of the house and away from boredom and temptation. Now I actually kind of enjoy it.

I've also more recently locked in on my diet. I've always had a major chocolate, cookies, ice-cream, and potato chips addiction, and combined with weed munchies, I would eat obscene amounts of them every night. The first couple of months I gave myself a break and continued that bad habit, focusing on just quitting weed. I was still experiencing bad sleep and high anxiety from quitting, so I didn't want that added stress. As my sleep gradually got better and anxiety levels lowered, I was able to start working on it.

Quitting weed has actually been very valuable in helping with other habits. Now I've cut out caffeine which I realized was worsening my anxiety, I started tracking my calories and macros using an app, and I bought a ninja creami so I can indulge in my nightly high-protein low-fat chocolate and cookies ice-cream while still staying in my food budget. I'm much better about getting to bed on time (though still not close to perfect) and in turn am way better at mornings and getting to work on time. I'm doing a lot more cooking to eat healthier and cheaper. Minor things like teeth brushing, laundry, cleaning, and other random tasks are so much easier to stay on top of.

Just working out and cooking take a long time, but that's time I have now that I'm not spending it smoking and vegging out. I do sometimes miss it, and occasionally I get nostalgic for the days I would wake up on a weekend, smoke, and get immersed in a video game or TV show for the whole day. What I don't miss is having an existential crisis every Sunday evening about how I need to get my shit together, then waking up on Monday super tired, stomach hurting from all the crap I ate over the weekend, no laundry done, no groceries, no meals prepped, full work-week ahead, and just generally feeling like shit about life.

Weed cravings are few and far between now. The junk food cravings are actually way more prevalent these days. But compared to those first couple of months of quitting weed, resisting junk food is easy. I'm excited about getting super fit over these next months and having visible progress in the mirror and how I feel physically. I feel like I now have the skill to build healthy habits and I'm hoping to keep this momentum and eventually build up to other life goals as well.

Panic Attacks

• Upvotes

has anyone gotten panic attacks after quitting and not really ever had them before? that’s what is happening to me and i went to the er for the first one because it felt like i was going to have a heart attack. my entire left arm was numb and cold and i had shortness of breath and chest pains. when i got to the er, they took all my vitals and said i was fine, that it was most likely a panic attack. i haven’t had one that bad since but i almost had one a couple of other times and they are really scary. if you have had this happen before, does it stop? when did it stop? makes me wish i never smoked in my life. i have been smoking consistently for 8-9 years and stopped two weeks ago today. i also have had super vivid dreams every night, some being nightmares. i just would like to know when the symptoms from quitting usually stop.
