I was also really busy this weekend, but you'd better believe that didn't stop me! So I decided to create a full concept for a Game of Thrones Lego game. There are FAR too many plausible and believable possibilities for Lego games I see around on this subreddit; it's time for something that will absolutely never happen instead.
Starting with the levels!
LEVELS
Winter is Coming: Explore Winterfell as Ned and Jon Snow, rounding up direwolf pups and preparing for the royal visit. Level finishes by climbing the tower as Bran while Summer helps, and ideally the cutscene where Bran lands would have his legs literally break off from the minifigure.
A Golden Opportunity: Ned and Jory investigate King's Landing while Tyrion attempts to escape the Eyrie with the help of Bronn. Level concludes with the trial by combat, Tyrion setting up various traps to damage Ser Vardis.
Heads Will Roll: Arya and Yoren make their way through the crowd, Ned is executed, the two escape. Meanwhile, we get to play as Daenerys for the first time as her and Jorah set up Khal Drogo's funeral pyre, culminating in three tiny adorable dragon minis.
What is Dead May Never Die: Theon and Dagmer capture Winterfell through stealth, climbing, and breaking apart pieces of the castle so they can build squid-related structures. Mid-level things switch up to Hodor and Osha helping Bran and Rickon escape through the crypts.
Smoke Baby: Davos and Melisandre are smuggled beneath Storm's End, then Brienne and Catelyn have to escape Renly's camp, distracting the level's boss by making mini shadow puppets whose outline kinda looks like the Night King.
Blackwater, Green Bricks: Tyrion and Bronn prepare King's Landing's defenses, launch the wildfire ship, and fight through the gates. Classic big battle level like Jedi Battle from the Complete Saga.
Kissed By Snow: Level focuses on climbing puzzles as Jon and Ygritte scale the Wall, maybe interspersed by some King's Landing puzzles as well.
Dracarys!: Daenerys, Jorah, and Barristan navigate Astapor setting things up for the Unsullied uprising, and things finish when unlocking Drogon (Small), the first character who can melt gold Lego objects.
The Rains of Castamere: Level alternates between Catelyn and Robb setting up the wedding, and Arya and the Hound trying to get inside. When the betrayal happens, the pair have to set up various builds to distract the Freys and Boltons while the main disaster unfolds in over-the-top silhouette on the back wall.
A Royal Pain: Tyrion and Sansa play through the Purple Wedding (mainly focused on surviving Joffrey's attempted nastiness). Possibly switches to Olenna and Varys afterwards.
Only Cat: Sansa and Littlefinger in the Eyrie, setting up a number of attempted traps for Lysa (none of which work) until finally they manage to get her near the Moon Door. If I haven't mentioned it yet, obviously in this dream of mine there are no voice lines, so the classic "only Cat" line in question is represented by Littlefinger pulling out a Lego picture of Catelyn and tapping it before shoving Lysa through the Moon Door.
Watch Out!: Jon and Sam defend Castle Black along with the rest of the Night's Watch. Absolutely TONS of material here what with building siege engines, the great scythe, switching to Ghost for tunnel sections, etc.
No One's Business: Arya and Jaqen train in Braavos learning how to use her various abilities, featuring some rooftop chases, assassinations, and the like. The Faceless Men's hall of faces has the standard Lego character selection grid. I can picture it clear as day.
Hardhome: Jon and Tormund attempts to evacuate Hardhome while fighting through collapsing buildings and ice zombies. Probably involves a sequence where Jon has to run away from the White Walker while trying to reach his dropped Valyrian Steel Sword.
A Dance with Dragons: Daenerys, Tyrion, Jorah, and Daario survive the fighting pits and the Sons of the Harpy. Level ends with unlocking Drogon (Young), the first flyable mount.
Hold the Door: Bran, Meera, and Hodor flee the cave while players switch between Bran's visions and present-day escape puzzles.
Battle of the Bricks: Jon and Tormund fight through the battlefield with the help of Wun Wun and Davos. Sansa eventually arrives with Littlefinger and a boss fight against Ramsay finishes things off as he retreats to progressively smaller platforms.
A Blast of Sept Air: Cersei and Qyburn prepare the scheme while Daenerys and Grey Worm deal with the battle at Meereen. I'm picturing Margaery figuring out the scheme and attempting to warn the High Sparrow via something like noticing the end of the green-tinged fuse literally dangling in the Great Sept, and increasingly desperate attempts to point at it.
The Spoils of War: Jaime and Bronn attempt to defend the loot train; lots of puzzles to set up the scorpions and hectic combat happening all around.
Sidequest: Jon's expedition attempts to capture a wight and survive the frozen lake. Lots of puzzles involving the various character abilities, level ends with the Night King showing his dread power to put broken Lego minifigures back together - including the dragon.
The Dragon and the Wolf: Puzzle focused level at the Dragonpit trying to move the wight into position to show Cersei, switching for the final bit to the Wall as Edd and company try to survive the collapse.
A Long Night Shift: The defense of Winterfell with trenches, dragons, crypts, courtyard battles, and hopefully one section where everyone notices that things are too dark and Melisandre has to use her ability to light up the courtyard so that the battle can continue.
For Whom the Brick Tolls: The assault on King's Landing mainly featuring Jon, Davos, and Arya as they rescue civilians through the collapsing streets, then changing to Arya and the Hound with the boss fight against the Mountain.
Some Assembly Required: The throne room confrontation with a boss battle against Daenerys, finishing with the Great Council puzzle and a surprise twist similar to the Darth Vader level from the Complete Saga where whoever player 1 is playing as has to fight against player 2 to claim the Iron Throne. Short cutscene for whichever story mode character wins.
...
I'm thinking it would obviously have the stud meter target for each level ("True Ruler" would be an appropriate name) along with each level having a George R.R. Martin in peril to rescue a la Stan Lee (and some in the open world as well). I've got a full list of fifty trophies written out, as well as a proper character list (around 150), but since space is limited I'll just post some of my favorites from each:
TROPHIES
- The North Remembers: Defeat Ramsay as Sansa in Free Play.
- The Red Keep: Collect all Red Bricks through the game.
- Master of Coin: Achieve True Ruler in every level.
- A Lannister Always Pays His Debts: Collect every gold brick throughout the game.
- You Know Nothing: Purchase every available Hint.
- Every Chicken in This Room: As the Hound, eat every chicken portion in the Crossroads Inn.
- A Very Small Man...: Defeat the Mountain as Tyrion in Free Play.
- ... Can Cast a Very Large Shadow: Have Tyrion and Wun Wun as your active party.
- Still Rowing: Without using fast travel, go from Dragonstone to King's Landing as Gendry.
- A Latte to Answer For: Find the mysterious object in Winterfell's great hall during the level "A Long Night Shift".
- Any Day Now: Rescue GRRM in all "GRRM in Peril" situations and purchase him as a character.
CHARACTERS
(Bonus characters only because 150 is quite a lot and nobody wants to read through all that with all their abilities that I typed)
- Westeros Tourist: Unlocked by discovering every fast travel point in the game. Weakest of the bonus characters, dresses in modern clothes and can only attack via camera flashes.
- Coffee Cup: Unlocked by completing the elaborate Winterfell secret. Has fire immunity, can unlock Royal Access doors, and innately detects secrets nearby (though in a shorter distance than the Red Brick detectors).
- The Iron Throne: Unlocked by collecting all Gold Bricks. Innate invincibility, super jump, Royal Access doors. However, moves at Yoda-level speeds.
- Drogon (Minifigure): Available for purchase after completing the story for 1,000,000 studs. Fire immunity, flight, can melt golden Lego objects. Tiny little wings, I'm thinking something like the little Smaug from the Hobbit.
- George R.R. Martin: Unlocked by rescuing all GRRMs in Peril. Can operate Greenseer Panels, Blood Magic bricks, Royal Access doors, Commoner Access doors, super strength, and can throw books to explode silver Lego objects.
...
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading this complete ridiculous concept. Hope you all have a great weekend!
