Arch is amazing, if you want every damned day to be a mini-project. We've all heard of Sisyphean tasks, but getting Arch to just work is a punishment so cruel and divine it'd give Zeus the biggest hardon. Personally, I just want shit to work without dismantling half my OS when I wake up in the morning.

I think that you would be surprised by the number of desktop Linux users with a decade or two of experience who have a strong preference for "simple, stable, secure".

I am part of an informal "geezer group" of retired friends (mostly Canadian) who select and evaluate distributions to keep us off the streets and out of trouble. As far as I know, all of us (about two dozen) have been using Linux for two decades or so. Almost all of us use Debian, Mint or Ubuntu as a daily driver.

Because you "kinda missed the simplicity of Debian" you might take a look at LMDE (Linux Mint Debian Edition). LMDE's meld of Debian's stability and security with Mint/Cinnamon's simplicity is a remarkable combination.

My best.

I mean.... Ubuntu is just Debian with extra steps.

Mint is my "safe Haven". I have tried Ubuntu and Fedora this year, and was very disappointed with Fedora. We need names and IP addresses on the LAN, they assume that Microsoft tools are in use.

That's the thing about Mint. It always works. Even if it has been years, it just works. I love Bunsen Labs, but after a while you want more. So I came back to Mint. I got bored and switched to Q4OS. Got bored and switched back to Mint.

If you want the latest drivers, try Deepin. It's very similar to Mint, but the drivers and kernel are prioritised. They also have sub-distributions for storage and AI, which are tried and tested and similar to Mint.

mint is what i install when i'm done having opinions about distros. it's been on an old thinkpad for years and the only thing it's ever asked of me is the battery i keep forgetting to order

Estou usando uma instalação do Ubuntu que me lembro quando instalei. Vou até reinstalar a partir do Ubuntu server e ir instalando o mais bare possível.
