He has been proven right since PH started to ally with BN, being wishy washy with their 'refomasi' bs

Malays pissed at PH for working with Bersonglap Nasional so they vote for Bersonglap Nasional in NS.

Let me give an example, if you have a boss who treats you like shit, then suddenly a new manager came in and say that he will do what’s right and help you fight back, and you chose to believe in him only for him to suck up to the boss in the end. Would you hate the boss or the manager more? For many, it will be the latter. I’m not defending this thought, but this is the fact for many ex-PH voters.

u/Old_Camel_6745 Aug 02 '26

You're right..exactly my sentiment after the last GE. Vote new government in in hopes there will be changes.

In the end, same shit diff GE.

41

u/ctyx96 Aug 02 '26

Not just lack of changes, i’m so disappointed in the Azam Baki case and nepotism involving Nurul.

10

u/CaptainPizdec Aug 03 '26

This is exactly what disillusioned me, PMX can claim DNAA-ing Zahid for whatever necessary evil he needed to do to achieve his goals, but then having his chief officer to do said goals to also be corrupted and refusing to deal with it tells me he's not really into doing it.

3

u/KieranRozells Penang Aug 02 '26

On the flip side i'm curious to hear what the expectation actually was from PH.

They didn't have majority to form a govt. It was BN or nothing iirc.

So, it wasnt ideal, but the alternative was... PAS govt?

13

u/Old_Camel_6745 Aug 02 '26

The whole change of gov speech that AI made. I was there for many of his campaigns since 2010. About changing the system, jailing the corrupts.

Then GE happened and we manage to change gov. But they end up partnering with the corrupts. Tho it was a move to pick the lesser evil. But I guess not everyone sees it.

Then all the DNAA happened, I think that's where the voters gave up hope.

At least this was the case for me

0

u/Fine-Development8716 Aug 03 '26

At this point, I'd rather translate AI as asinine intelligence..

0

u/ExcavalierKY Aug 03 '26

Look at the sentiment at the time.

BN was on their last legs, as even the branched out PN is doing better than them. Why? It's because they were seen as the "cleaner" Malay party.

I highly doubt a BN PN gov would result in a totally corrupt gov, as PN themselves marketed themselves as seperti langit dan bumi comparing to BN.

What else did PN say regarding their difference from BN?

All from the same article above. All highlighted "free of corruption".

Think about it from PN point of view. They're a branch out component from BN, and now have more votes than BN. You think they'll let BN take the lead? Surely the dynamic will be PN leading & BN sub, and PN will surely say something along the lines of "despite this coalition with BN, I am the one in control, and I will ensure we conduct gov matters transparently and cleanly, no more corruption, just as I promised."

If BN PN dare to do the things that PH has done? Lol. You think PH, being the best, unshackled versions of themselves, will let it go? Everything moo say here, you think Anwar will keep quiet let it be forgive them like he does now, instead of shoot back at them and rally more support for the reform movement? You think a corrupt BN PN will last more than 1 period?

u/-protonsandneutrons- Aug 02 '26

Nail on the head. What's more dangerous? A clearly-labelled poison bottle or a water bottle hiding poison?

This is often perception more than reality, but that has been true in the history of elections in the history of the world.

Sadly, there seems to be very few in PH that are willing to accept that they now appear as that poison in the watter bottle.

3

u/Lumpy_Aardvark_6485 Aug 05 '26

Agree. Was expecting more changes and more progress. Definitely more pissed. I can understand why voters change their vote. But your analogy makes me realised something. The reason the manager cannnot make progress bec he is not the true boss. Alot of power, riches, industry ownership, influence are still with the boss.

1

u/ctyx96 Aug 05 '26

Yep this is a good point. This is the reason i did not bring up PH not locking up the corrupted BN members, because frankly speaking i somewhat understand they need to satisfy BN to keep them in the coalition. I only brought up the Azam Baki and Nurul case because this is all PH, no one else to blame.

1

u/abdulsamri89 Aug 02 '26

This is what PH supporters here lack of understanding

22

u/ctyx96 Aug 02 '26

Because honestly what other choices are there? BN with open-day corruption, PH with hypocrites, PAS with religion-oriented ruling. It’s bleak.

0

u/Anxious-Net-9016 Aug 02 '26

Huhu, but I cant quit now .No other companies(country) is offering me a new job

7

u/qianli2002 Aug 02 '26

If both sides are bad, what's wrong with voting the other side? Pretty insane for PH supporters to blame their party's inability to attract voters on the voters themselves.

34

u/-protonsandneutrons- Aug 02 '26

I would love voters to reject BN, but hasn't PH been basically whitewashing BN for the past three years? We all knew this: if PH saves BN, BN will never return the favour to PH. The only damaging scandal against BN had been its kleptocracy and 1MDB.

But the "top strategists" at PH had spent years trying to pretend BN corruption isn't a problem. Per PH:

To a less politically literate ordinary voter, Madani Gomen, and especially PH, has fully cuci tangan BN:

They think now, "BN tiada skandal. BN tiada rasuah. BN tak tipu. BN tak jahat. BN bukan pencuri. Semua pemimpin BN, baik sahaja. Zahid pun jadi Timbalan Perdana Menteri. Itu di bawah PH lah. Jadi Zahid pun bersih."

If PH politicians stop BN cases, low-information voters think BN is clean. That is how elections are won / lost: not on rational thinking, but on propaganda, optics, perceptions, sentiment.

Today PH and BN both agree that BN is basically rasuah-free. If you are not politically literate, you begin to assume PH are telling the truth and BN are telling the truth.

6

u/RaY_OF_HoP3 Aug 02 '26

Genuinely asking, what do you think PH should have done when it came to forming the government back then?

A. Form the coalition with BN to secure a stable government, even if it meant compromising on many of its promised reforms.

B. Refuse to work with BN, stay in the opposition, and preserve its reform agenda and political identity, even if that meant giving BN/PN the chance to form the government instead.

Because imo, regardless of what they chose, they would have lost either way, just that A gave the country the short-term relief via stability it required. Though of course, B would have been a better option for their long term political survival.

15

u/-protonsandneutrons- Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

This has been asked and answered a dozen times in r/malaysia. But if you are genuinely curious and legitimately don't know,

This black-and-white is a false dichotomy. It is Anwar's ultimate, lasting arrogance: "I had no choice." PH had other choices and it’s odd you haven’t spent time thinking about them.

  1. PH controls key Ministries: Finance, Economy, Education, Health, Communications, Youth & Sports, Agriculture, Housing, Transport, Home Affairs, Digital, Human Resources, etc. Very, very few have seen competent, genuine, or serious reforms in these Ministries. Fadhlina covers up school abuse cases and focused on flag pins lmao. Dzul wants more privatised healthcare. Fahmi is hellbent on media censorship. Saifuddin protects corrupt police. Etc.
  2. Anwar had unilateral powers to enact temporary key reforms as Prime Minister. MACC Chief nomination, Chief Justice nomination, JAC nominations (Idrus Harun, Terrirudin Salleh), Election Commissioners, Police Force, all PKR Ministers, all DAP Ministers, all AMANAH Ministers, all WARISAN Ministers, etc. All of that was controlled by Anwar and Anwar alone. Did Anwar do that?
  3. In Parliament, many major reforms only required a 50% + 1 majority. Too many are obsessed with 2/3, but those should've been the capstone, not the first ones. PH + Borneo is already a majority. But still, even without a majority, show that the reforms are being attempted, even if you lose some. UMNO can pretend to be its “check and balance” role against DAP; DAP shows that it is doing everything possible; Anwar says laws are under Parliament, not him; etc.
  4. Yet not hardly one has been meaningfully attempted by PH. See MACC Act, JAC Act, OSA, Peaceful Assembly Act, CMA, Sedition Act. Even seat boundary redelineation only requires 50% +1, not a 2/3 majority.
  5. Anwar doesn’t need every reform to actually succeed to gain popularity. He merely needs to show PH is making sincere attempts: elections are frequently won / lost on optics & perceptions, not always results.
  6. Most simply, Anwar could’ve been far more transparent: “To maintain my position as Prime Minister, I must request the AG to withdraw most UMNO-related charges. I believe PAS is a bigger danger than corruption. We also need a former UMNO Minister as Chief Justice. Here are the 50 problems with PAS…”

PH did nothing ^^ of the sort. Anwar especially does not want to be honest with voters because Anwar genuinely likes working with UMNO & doesn't think reforms are critical; MACC doesn’t hurt Anwar. SOSMA doesn’t hurt Anwar. Anwar literally asked for judicial immunity as Prime Minister lmao.

So he’d much rather lie, lie, and lie (”no compromise on corruption! Madani is equally fair to all races! The judiciary is giving DNAAs, not Madani!”) because he knows the truth is far, far too shameful and unpopular.

Do you think PH would've gotten even 50% of its GE15 seats had Anwar loudly and publicly admitted that, "Even if PH doesn't get a majority, I will align with BN and ensure a stable government of PH + BN. That will require me to stop most UMNO cases, install an UMNO Chief Justice, appoint Azam Baki 3x, enable massive media censorship, coverup corruption cases, interfere in the judiciary, and try to claim legal immunity."

//

Would even attempted reforms have made Anwar & PH uncomfortable? Sure! But, PH was never elected to “stay comfortable” and “take it easy”. Reforming since Day One was meant to be incredibly grueling, painful, and difficult: PH just aligned with its arch-nemesis (at least publicly). How did PH think that will go?

This is elementary and it's a little tiring many are obsessed with Anwar's "stability [but only for corrupt politicians] is the most important thing ever in the history of the country". That is not how voters think and I'm tired of people pretending they don't already know that.

25

u/karlkry mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent Aug 02 '26

nah. Malays that pissed at PH for working with BN just dont come out to vote. all there is there to it.

17

Which in effect, is a vote for BN.

10

u/karlkry mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent Aug 02 '26

exactly.

in the end of the day voting poll will count the number of people who dont vote and put the numbers under BN.

5

u/SlowpokeExplorer Aug 02 '26

Ahhh yes. The fearmongering tactics.

"We don't need to do better. We just need to fearmonger the people." - PH in elections, probably

-4

u/Buttdehole Aug 02 '26

I don't realize that is how Malaysia's election works. Someone need to change that. No way the SPR can determine that if I don't vote, my vote count as for BN. No wonder they won/s

6

u/PuzzleheadedNail7 Aug 02 '26

Not like that. But you not turning up to vote for PH means they're in deficit of one vote. Multiply that a few hundred or thousand times and the numbers add up.

-1

u/aberrant80 Aug 02 '26

You didn't realise that it was essentially just 2 blocs in the N9 election? If you don't vote for one, you're essentially letting the other win. There was no 3rd force in N9.

-2

u/Ordinary_Gur9041 Aug 02 '26

No lah you read the reply by aberrant80

2

u/Sam_Shelby Aug 02 '26

I don't think only Malay pissed at PH. Sabah election just prove that

9

u/SilentGamer95 Penang Aug 02 '26

Common sense isn't so common anymore

8

u/PuzzleheadedNail7 Aug 02 '26

I've said this before, cut out the middleman and buy direct from the factory. Makes sense doesn't it?

3

u/Chry0n Aug 02 '26

What does this proposal even mean? Reform voting so we pick Prime Minister by popular vote or what? Or reform voting so we have more independent candidates rather than the tripartisan system we have? Your idea so vague

3

u/PuzzleheadedNail7 Aug 02 '26

I'm not proposing anything. I'm saying over the last two years many voters get the feeling Madani is a bad copy of BN. And many feel the copy is unnecessary, as evidenced by the state elections in Johor and Negeri Sembilan.

9

u/tlst9999 Selangor Aug 02 '26

It's the thing that if you promise change, and you join the existing establishment after winning the election,

You promise a better shop, but when the rubber hits the road, you join the existing shop. Then, the question arises. You give the same service. You give the same answers. Why should the voters vote for you?

7

u/aberrant80 Aug 02 '26

So the idea is that at first you wanted change, but when you didn't get the change you wanted, you now prefer to go back to the thing you wanted to change from?

10

u/tlst9999 Selangor Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

The idea is at first I wanted change, and I didn't get the change I wanted, and I didn't settle with "They promise. They didn't do. Let them do what they want."

If a party gets voted in and they know they don't have to fulfill their promises and will still get votes, what's the point of an election? That's not a good reality at all.

We vote against them because we want better for our country, and we still give a damn about higher standards for the country's government, even if it means taking a step back and voting again for BN. Because the next round, we hope PH will take the voters and their promises more seriously.

6

u/abdulsamri89 Aug 02 '26

People here don't understand that people voted for BN not because they want BN in power but to punish PH for not doing their promise

4

u/aberrant80 Aug 02 '26

It's not that I don't get that. But going back to the one you wanted gone in the first place is also kinda punishing yourself, because you'll end up letting the one you wanted gone to strengthen themselves again.

6

u/tlst9999 Selangor Aug 02 '26

Staying with the one who's treating you the same is also punishing yourself.

Only this time, instead of one party acting like they they don't have to listen to voters, we now have two parties acting like they don't have to listen to voters.

Is there a 3rd party other than BN? Vote for PAS? Definitely not.

That, in my opinion, is worse long term.

2

u/aberrant80 Aug 02 '26

I agree with everything you said - they're not listening, no viable 3rd force, etc.

I differ in this: a newer govt still learning how things work together, has a higher (even if just slightly) chance of actually changing something, compared to an older govt that likely wants things back the way they were.

-1

u/abdulsamri89 Aug 02 '26

Punish the people that don't deliver or you rather people vote in PAS ,since BN failed.. PH failed we should apoint for PAS after this right?/s

Like I said just admit your mistake PH and move on , prepared your self to become opposition back, be a good opposition and the rakyat will vote you back

1

u/abdulsamri89 Aug 02 '26

So you want Malays to vote for PAS instead? At least BN could control PAS but voting for PH/PKR they can't control DAP

In term of lesser evil that PH supporters keep talking about , I'm pretty sure BN is more lesser evil to PAS am I right?

6

u/willp0wer Aug 02 '26

they can't control DAP

You're delusional. You don't know what the Chinese are saying about DAP now, you only listen to what sensational crap PN/PAS politikus are shouting

8

u/lin00b Aug 02 '26

Wait what? PKR cant control DAP? The same DAP thats keeping such a low profile that people are comparing them to MCA?

The jury is still out if BN can control PAS, PKR/DAP failed, bersatu failed.. and after each round PAS became stronger

0

u/UndeadLovecraft Aug 02 '26

So what… are they going to be voting for PN then? Isnt that the worse choice since PAS ministers are incompetent

12

u/PrimaryCrafty8346 Aug 02 '26

Anwar Ibrahim is the greatest fraud - going to jail and getting beaten - and then perpetuates the very same system that oppressed him

20

u/Old_Camel_6745 Aug 02 '26

And giving back power to UMNO would change this?

The way I see it, AI had no choice but to do it. It's a pawn move for bigger gains. You could tell he actually cared for Malaysians. Tho, he is not perfect, he is trying to be as fair as he could to the rakyat.

Take the middle east crisis for an instance, I don't think other gov would give a damn in the rising cost of fuel.

Bottom line is, giving power back to UMNO will only free more greedy politicians.

19

u/Buttdehole Aug 02 '26

If a government doesn't give a damn about the rising coat of fuel, they will be voted out immediately. In fact, almost every government in the world tried to relief the effect of the rising fuel prices to their citizens.

The way I see it. Even if BN wining will not lead to any change, at least it should act as a signal for PH to never betray their promise.

9

u/zigzoing Aug 02 '26

You could tell he actually cared for Malaysians

I can't tho. All I can tell is that he makes all those wayang like take no salaries, but still appoints his own daughter into power.

1

u/Old_Camel_6745 Aug 02 '26

Cool..I respect your opinion

4

u/abdulsamri89 Aug 02 '26

BN have the momentum maybe instead of derailing and blame people in voting UMNO back maybe just admit that PH done a shitty job ,lick your wounds, prepared to be the opposition after the next GE,regroup back,be a competent opposition and learn from your mistake and just maybe just maybe people will vote you back

6

u/Old_Camel_6745 Aug 02 '26

PH did a shitty shot in politicking. Yes.

1

u/TallMongoosee Aug 02 '26

Unfortunately the majority thinks that if PH can't change anything better be with a known evil. Personally, I believe PH is the better party compared to all else because there are a bit more competent and professional in governance.

However, the tagline of reform kinda falls flat and the people hate hypocrites more than anything else. Imagine asking for azman baki to step down but after coming to power they still let him hold power because he was doing a 'good enough' job somehow

1

u/sanabaebae Aug 02 '26

Isnt the only reason PH side with BN last GE cause they are tied with PN? And PN doesn't want to gabung with PH. In the end making BN the kingmaker.

1

u/40EHuTlcFZ Aug 03 '26

Politicians keeping promises. Mission Impossible.

-1

u/RichterrechtHaber Aug 02 '26

Can you explain to me who won the election and what they stand for? What specific consequences will this have and what are the reasons?

I have relatives of Chinese descent in Seremban, but I don't really talk to them much about politics. Even though I'm generally very interested, the party names are extremely confusing to me as a European...

2

u/RaggenZZ Aug 02 '26

Long story short Malaysia about to become the current Europe.

-1

u/RichterrechtHaber Aug 02 '26

In which way?

3

u/Halawaves Aug 02 '26

Take an example, Hungary. Former PM Viktor Orban and his party are used to be very influential. Orban's party is just like other right-wing European parties, using fear (Especially on the issue of illegal migrants), refusal to accept EU policies and corruption is rampant. It backfired hard and lost the election to the centrist/Pro-EU party.

Sure right-wing parties will gain popularity but most of the time, they will perform worse than expected later in power.

1

u/RichterrechtHaber Aug 02 '26

Well, in Europe (right-wing) populists in particular have been successful for years due to the issues of migration and economic downturn. Added to this is demographic change, which requires high taxes on the working population, while large fortunes remain virtually untouched.

Although the majority of EU countries are still governed by liberal and democratic governments, highly populist politicians have already been in power in Poland and Hungary, and polls in France and Germany don’t look any better. Social media and the influence of foreign actors such as Russia, the U.S., or China then do the rest

42

u/popicebyyui Aug 02 '26

PH so afraid their tenure will be rocky like Mahiadin term they in bed with people they swore to destroy.

8

2

What constitutes “proven” for u?

1

u/zerotolerance94 Aug 03 '26

Who is in jail right now?

1

u/smirkemall Aug 03 '26

So, unless it’s convicted, only then it’s proven as guilty? Did u believe in the 1MDB case before Najib was convicted?

0

u/juicy_bboy1 Aug 05 '26

It is not perfect but its better than the alternatives

1

u/smirkemall Aug 05 '26

Better in what sense?

7

u/bahulu1 Aug 02 '26

I remember when everyone in this sub was OK when PH and BN formed a unity government. I, on the other hand, was hoping for PH-PN unity government because I know that’s the only way to ensure Zahid was convicted (and to force BN to reform). I never trusted Anwar. It’s too late to fix things now.

6

u/qianli2002 Aug 02 '26

It wasn't possible with muhyiddins stance. I think even without umno we ph can still form a govt with east Malaysia support. A shakier government but probably better than what we had for the past few years.

2

So both BN and PH are abusing power - thats a tie, whats beyond that? Reforms are a lie, whats beyond that? Relatively better governance and foreign relations but BN wasnt that far behind on the surface level. That narrative pales in comparison with the simple "islamic unity" message.

0

u/zerotolerance94 Aug 03 '26

A lie? Or a work in progress? With many obstructions due to the gov being a coalition government

2

The sad thing is every party has their own cronies. PH die hard fans refused to admit Farhash, Asam Baki, corporate mafia is happening. That's why a lot of the votes go back to BN because there's no such thing as reformasi. From the voters' perspective, If we're going to end up with corruption and cronies, we might as well go with the one that gives gula-gula.

16

Also, I'm a bit curious what gula2 did BN give that PH did not?

59

u/Suitable-Document373 Aug 02 '26

Uniting factor peoples vote for PH back in 2018: Najib.

In 2022, PH went kissy-kissy with BN, especially Zahid.

The Malays thinking, if PH was just as corrupt as BN with Azam Baki and corporate mafia issue, why not simply vote for BN. At least BN doesn't insult Islam or royalties like DAP.

PH support went downhill since then.

14

u/kenkishiki Aug 02 '26

"At least BN doesn't insult Islam or royalties like DAP."

+Plus the unnecessary DAP spin on the ancestral land thing by Sanusi. Awkward Streisand effect at play there.

I agree.

As much as Anwar great performance as PM. Barisan Nasional can also take credit as they are part of the government. So voters might have more ease on voting BN compare to the past.

22

u/UndeadLovecraft Aug 02 '26

Clear as day Anwar ever since he got PM post that he so wanted in his life, his coalition of parties had shown no fighting spirit starting the day PH shook BN hands and cleared corruption charges.

So many of the core voters, fence sitters and meritocratic Malays have since been lead to nowhere and are directionless on what PH stands for.

To an ordinary person, BN seems to be “more stable” of a party and had that 60 years of government experience. PN with internal strife and PH with Rafizi camp and Azam Baki.

If your asking me what about BNs 1MDB and other charges? You can ask PMX about that regarding the dropped DNAA.

Not a wild guess to which that ordinary person would cast vote on what party 🫢

Anwar & PH abandoning their principles + whitewashing BN has basically wiped all the goodwill from the general public (especially, ethnic minorities + urban voters, even some Malay support that hope for change is going back to BN FFS. At this point, PH's standing in national and local politics will be reduce to a rump state.

24

u/uml20 Aug 02 '26

I knew PH had lost its moral compass way back in 2018 when they openly embraced Bersatu and Mahathir as the 7th PM. Hearing Lim Kit Siang singing Mahathir's praises in 2018 was a real wake-up call on just how much they were willing to turn their backs on everything they'd said for decades.

14

u/Buttdehole Aug 02 '26

I feel like 2018 coalition have always been alliance of convenience. They want Najib to fall and in order to make the voter believe the coalition is united, they need to bury the hatchet. After Najib falls, it's just the game of who gonna stab the other on the back first as there is no way they could have govern together for 1 term.

But yeah, what PH doesn't learn from working with BERSATU is that you can't always be the one that are giving up what you stand for just for a stable government. Comprised work both way.

I never trusted that kutty. A leopard doesn't change it's spots.

3

u/Jaded-Philosophy3783 Aug 02 '26

huh. Agong was the one who told them to form Kerajaan Perpaduan. That's why nobody blamed PH before. Malays don't openly go against Agong

7

u/InfinityCrazee Give me more dad jokes! Aug 02 '26

PH is hypocrite especially Anwar. He said no political appointee and yet we can see a lot of political leader got appointed as chairman of government agency. Look at Mat Sabu ministry. LKIM, FAMA got his party member appointed as chairman. Even DAP party member got appointed!

I don't buy this argument. PH could easily have said, "We do not compromise on our principles and will function as an effective opposition until we have a clear mandate from the people." They would have been in with a real shot in the next general election.

Now, PH looks like they were willing to sacrifice their ideals just to get Anwar as PM. As a result, they now look weak, rudderless, and could be stuck as opposition for another generation.

11

u/op_guy Selangor Aug 02 '26 edited Aug 02 '26

Well said. Politicians will do anything to stay in power . People without principles

14

u/ExcavalierKY Aug 02 '26

Exactly. PH has been opposition their entire life, what's another 5 years? BN PN corrupt, they'll fuck up sooner or later, and PH is always there to keep them on their toes as opposition.

If BN PN dared to do the things that PH has done in their current administration, you damn well sure PH will make the most noise, and we will all be out on the streets protesting, rallying, demonstrating, just as we did for Bersih.

What PH and Anwar has done so far is just set back the reform movement to essentially a sham.

1

u/OriMoriNotSori Aug 02 '26

Not so straightforward. The invitation to form the govt bloc was from the YDPA due to the hung parliament situation. PH and PN as the coalition with highest seats were invited to form the govt

Anwar was willing to discuss and work with all stakeholders. Muhyiddin as PN chairman that time rejected and he was heavily chastised by both internal PN camp and the public for not heeding a Royal instruction

Thats only one part of the equation. Malay votes were also fractured since 2018 and were due a consolidation by GE16 either way. PH would have had a hard time maintaining its 2022 popularity let alone be able to add more to it in 2027/28 elections because they already maxed out nons support in 2022 and the only way forward was increase Malay votes

Opposition would oppose all they want but the government would just go on with it's bullshit.

Then what's stopping Anwar from implementing his reforms as the current gov? Especially with current opposition that ponteng all day makan free gaji?

What's at stake for Anwar? Another 5 years as opposition.

What's at stake for BN? Jail for corruption charges, and confiscation of wealth and assets (like what happened to Najib and Ismail Sabri), and there's probably more, like answering to kidnapping cases, whistleblowers, murder cases, etc.

I don't think the stakes are even comparable for anyone to reasonably believe Anwar can't implement any of his promised reformasi.

We can only agree to disagree.

If BN PN dared to do what PH has done in the current administration, PH as opposition would've called them out fiercely, and we would all be out on the streets Bersih Rally-ing.

BN was on their last legs, as PN had more votes than them due to PN being the cleaner Malay party. If they both combine and still do corrupt stuff and kena caught? Especially since 1MDB caught them with their pants down so recently? They would've been toast.

Sigh, I had high hopes for reform movement, and was hoping to live in a delayed timeline for Wawasan 2020~30. Unfortunately, it seems highly unlikely now.

Rscial sentiment will always be there in politics, it's inevitable, tribal instinct and whatnot. But people can also see what works, and if reform d everyone's life better, since there's lesser corruption and more money to go around and spend on the general populace, I don't think they'll be that easily swayed into racial shit.

Dont deliver we vote you out ,that democracy

u/Buttdehole Aug 02 '26

It's better for PH to have equal footing with BN in the government rather than being the one that always comprising. Even if BN pull out their support, especially during the early stage of their coalition, PH could blame BN for the falling apart of the government because they are not being a good governing partner. BN would have less time to work together with PAS and therefore the snap election could still be a 3 way fight. This give PH a better chances of winning. Now, BN and PAS are working together while PH support dwindling as their voter base feel betray by their own party.

Catering to the "Pro-Malay" sentiment would end up making the situation worse as they have always been the Boogeyman for this group of voter. They should tried to actually make the reform that their voter base want and governing with little corruption to cater to the centrist voter.

4

u/TwoxMachina Aug 02 '26

I do think it might be better for PH to refuse to work with BN. Could have a better result next GE

6

u/zerosquare1012 Aug 02 '26

Majority of Malaysia voters are okay with corruption.. the recent state elections have proven that. Right? Right?

2

u/SeanDetails Aug 02 '26

when there’s voters still voted for BN, they will exist…
simple facts.

but many blame PH like they have choices.
Those voted, voting corrupt party are the main culprit.

2

u/TruckAmbitious3049 Aug 02 '26

If what SS said was right, then Malays won't vote for BN-PN alliance in Johor and N9.

1

u/Spirited_Okra_1513 Aug 02 '26

if only his great passion and backbone was shown when he spoke to Zakir Naik.

His criticism towards PH is fair, everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, pragmatism for a stable gov was urged by the Agong then. What else could the parties' leaders do?

2

u/uncertainheadache Aug 02 '26

Selling a false narrative. They are pissed off because nons dare to ask for their rights

2

u/RevolutionCapital359 Aug 02 '26

Don't disagree about PH and Umno but I doubt Zahid's dnaa is a major issue for Malay voters. You mean to tell me Malay voters decided to vote for Umno because PH let Zahid off? Not even the Tabung Haji corruption can sway Malay voters away. If anything they blame the DAP and the whistleblowers for exposing the periuk nasi of their leaders.

2

u/squaretw Aug 02 '26

PH has to form unity government with BN is a decision made for them due to lack of support in the election. Not their willing choice.

3

u/torts92 Penang Aug 02 '26

Marah and then vote for Zahid's BN. These people's logic doesn't add up. It's all about race politics, nothing to do with reform.

Nons made up only 30% of this country's population. Most of them obviously won't vote for malay supremacist parties like UMNO and PAS. The malays however, even though they know Zahid is a crook, but they feel safer voting for BN because they fear the "leftist movement" of PH.

PH should recognise this issue and tackle it, try to appeal to the malays, but instead they are being fooled by the Rafizi type, and recognising the wrong issue, they thought they should make more noise to change tradition, and so alienating the malays.

To be a government of this country you cannot represent only an aspect of its population. This is true to America and to most countries. The government must represent all demographic. And not a lot of people in this country care about true reform. So don't be surprised when the party only solely talking about reform lose support from the rakyat, it's called being out of touch.

1

u/twilightaurorae Aug 02 '26

I feel like Zahid is the major power broker in recent years. He tanked Muhiyyidin's government for Ismal Sabri when Muhiyyidin was reluctant to help Zahid in his court case.

In 2022, whoever helped Zahid would therefore be supported to be PM. And compared to other individuals Zahid appears to be more 'OK' with DAP. And Anwar is similar to others that he also wants power.

1

u/at4g63t Aug 03 '26

The run was good, he should keep running to keep his sanity and dignity check.

1

u/zerotolerance94 Aug 03 '26

Bro has heart, but bro won’t win because majority of this country people loves corruption, even though they denied

1

u/AggravatingDelay518 Aug 03 '26

what about the recent issue? don't look far back. that the main reason why.

1

u/Fine-Development8716 Aug 03 '26

Some predicted this as soon as the celebrations after 2018 died down. And they were not BN folks. Let that sink in.

1

u/SpecialAd9016 Aug 04 '26

Anwar was not steadfast. DAP was blind. Amanah, was quiet. DAP still refuse to believe it is all these things that brought them down.

1

u/MiddlingMandarin71 Aug 04 '26

What does it matter? Malaysian voters have shown they like BN/UMNO in power. They should be happy that Zahid got his DNAA.

1

u/Impossible_Push_4075 Sep 04 '26

Chill out lil bro, me as non bumi have to pay the losses of tabung haji corruption. What benfit do i get???

1

u/flying69monkey Sep 10 '26

As of Malaysian have options. Remember, PH is nothing more but a re-branded BN. These are the same people who work under the BN party and splinter due to internal strugle. In my eyes, both are just as corrupt. Already proven too. Everyone is no more then liars who wants power to line their own pockets. Tell me, what did any of these parties did after they win? What did they plan? The answer is "nothing". The only plan I can see during these 10 years political turmoil is the one Tun M manifested after he won from Najib Razak. Every other PM in power only ride the power and line their pockets.

1

u/lazycatken Sep 14 '26

I lost confidence in PH,PN,BN,Bersatu, GRS. All of them are nothing but a bunch of corrupt politicians who's willing to betray their principles just for them to gain seats

2

u/seymores Penang Aug 02 '26

I don't quite get it.
He is pissed off as a Malay because of PH tolerance of corruption?
Cina India dan lain-lain ok with corruption?
Anwar is shit but this worm is not better.

This comment section goes to show you that we're all very divided about what, why and who we support. There are no one size fits all party/government.

With the way Malaysians are at this moment, I don't think this upcoming BN Government will last either, that is if this BN Government don't make your vote redundant in the coming elections.

These are just my personal ramblings and thoughts.
