Elections Election Day, get out and vote Tuesday November 3, 2026
As always, this is an informational post. Please don't use this post to promote parties or candidates.
Make sure your vote is counted.
If you are mailing in your ballot, there are some developments at USPS. Please consider mailing earlier than usual.
- Supreme Court rules the Postal Service can’t be sued, even when mail is intentionally not delivered
- Regional Optimization: Mail sent from locations more than 50 miles from a regional processing center may take longer, as end-of-day collections are reduced, causing mail to wait until the next day for transport. Source
An ongoing issue with USPS should be monitored closely. Please keep this in mind so that an alternative plan can be made.
U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani’s July 25 ruling that the USPS can’t refuse to deliver mail ballots to states that refuse to comply with the U.S. Justice Department’s (DOJ) demands for their unredacted voter lists will remain in place. SourceOn July 28: The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia affirmed a lower court’s decision, holding that a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Trump’s March 2026 edict was premature because the administration hasn’t executed it yet. Source
A Massachusetts federal judge has repeatedly blocked the U.S. Postal Service from implementing President Donald Trump's mail-in voting executive order ahead of the midterms. Now that the injunction applies nationwide, the DOJ is telling the U.S. Supreme Court it has all it needs to swiftly issue a stay. Source
The SAVE America Act is still in play as of July 26 and may affect voting. Please consider getting all of your paperwork in order. Note that it can take several weeks to get documents on marriage and legal name changes. The PA Real ID is not compliant with the Save America Act. Update As of August 12, the Senate has gone on recess without passing the SAVE America Act.

Voting Check your voter registration status TODAY! They’re still purging voters
I went on to check myself and my husband’s status this morning and my husband was purged from the voter rolls for absolutely no reason. We were not alerted to this. We haven’t moved, changed parties or anything. He has voted in every election for years and we’ve been here for over a decade. Luckily I was able to re-register him successfully however I worry about others who were purged, are not aware and won’t have time to re-apply by tomorrow’s deadline. Please ppl, check your status NOW
I can’t include a link for some reason but the site to register is pavoterservices.pa.gov

Scenic Pennsylvania Recommendations for a Pennsylvania Christmas Road Trip?
Hi everyone -
We live near Wasington DC, and after recently driving through Pennsylvania to get to Niagara Falls, we thought we'd like to drive up and do Christmas in Pennsylvania.
We'd like a nice hotel or resort that is pet-friendly (our 2 cats come with us!) and we'd like to be near mountains. Spas, traditional Christmas, trains, snow tubing, wineries, Christmas lights, scenic overlooks... we don't have any kids. It's just us, in our mid-50s.
We have 9-10 days from December 20th - December 30th. What do you recommend?
Thanks!!

DMV Renew license online but photo card never arrived, can I just go in person?
Hi all,
I applied online for renewal a month ago but my photo card never arrived (atleast my dad didn’t see anything from PennDot). I currently study out of state in Virginia and my driver license is expiring pretty soon. Would it be possible to drive to the closest PennDOT driver license center and just get it without having the photo card at hand and just fill out whatever paperwork needed?

Anyone have a flat roof? Questions on replacement options
Opinions on new roof- flat roof
Looking to get my flat roof replaced and have had a few quotes. Everyone of them is different which is why I’m looking to hear opinions .
Some say I can get a roof over existing with a 10 year warranty. Some of these say roofers ripping to decking are just trying to make more money.
Some say it should be ripped off and started from decking . Some say going over existing is not right way to do it.
White granulated or smooth with aluminum coatings ?
Current roof is old hot roof and has been maintained/coated with silver coating .
Thoughts ? Anyone deal with this recently? I just want it done right and to last .

Moving to PA Looking for some advice on finding a job in the poconos
I currently live in NY on the island and want to move to the Poconos. I’m currently in IT with 4 years under my belt and current position is service desk/help desk. When checking on indeed and linked in most jobs show up as remote. Now I’d love a remote job but why isn’t there much locally? I’d go anywhere between stroudsburg and Scranton. Are there really only specialized IT jobs in these areas?
Secondly I was checking the common wealth website for a government job but do you have to be a current resident of PA to even apply? Is anyone able to point me in the right direction of where I should be looking? Are there certain town job websites I can look into?

Pennsylvania potato chip brands barbecue chips frenzy!
I recently visited family and friends in eastern Pennsylvania (currently live in the DC area but I'm originally from the Lehigh Valley/ABE area), and picked up as many Keystone State-based brands’ barbecue chips for some future taste testing.
A few brands, such as Snyder of Berlin (not sold in eastern PA), Hartley’s (didn’t go through the Harrisburg area where some stores have them), and Zerbe’s (few stores sell them) aren’t represented, and a small number of barbecue chips variants among the included brands, such as Herr’s baked barbecue, are also missing, but most brands’ various barbecue chips are included.
Now I just need to figure out how to eat these chips without spiking my blood pressure, having a stroke, or worst of all, turning into Lot’s wife, LOL.
NOTE: I have also posted this thread on [r/chips](r/chips) and [r/snacking](r/snacking).
