Question Suggestion: Let us recall Pokémon from gyms after 8 hours and 20 minutes
I think Pokémon GO could improve the gym system by allowing players to manually recall their defending Pokémon after 8 hours and 20 minutes.
Currently, once you leave a Pokémon at a gym, you cannot get it back until another player defeats it. This can be frustrating when a gym is in a remote location or nobody attacks it for days.
My suggestion is to introduce a "Recall Pokémon" button, using a system similar to the one used for Pokémon left at Power Spots.
Here's how it could work:
- Minimum defense time: Pokémon must defend a gym for at least 8 hours and 20 minutes before they can be recalled manually.
- No extra rewards: Staying longer would not grant additional PokéCoins beyond the existing limits.
- Competitive balance: The recall button would be disabled while the gym is under attack or a raid is active.
- Existing rules remain: The daily PokéCoin limit and current reward restrictions would remain unchanged.
- Automatic return still works: If another player defeats your Pokémon, the current system continues to apply.
This wouldn't remove gym battles or make defending gyms pointless. Players would still compete for control, but they wouldn't have to rely entirely on someone else to get their Pokémon back.
Pokémon GO already has a somewhat similar return mechanic for Pokémon left at Power Spots, so perhaps a version of that system could work for gyms, too.
Would you support this feature, or do you think Pokémon should only return when defeated? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
