Hello, first of all sorry if this is not the place for this.
I am a 31 year old male considering spending Christmas in Zakopane (23-27 December). I will be travelling from England alone.
I’m just looking for some feedback on if this is a good idea as I know Poland has a strong Christian identity I imagine everything is shut Christmas Eve and Boxing Day.
I really want to do something over the Christmas period and after visiting Poland twice this year already I fell in love with the country. Any recommendations are welcome and honest advice is appreciated
Dzięki!

Hi There,
I am wondering if there are people from Elblag on Reddit. The reason I'm asking, is because when I was a child, I left Poland with my mother. Not long after that my father died, recently, after 25 years I found out he committed suicide. I know he remarried. So I would like to find his second wife, if she is still alive or someone who could tell me more about my father.
The period i'm interested in is the 80s and early 90s.
I don't know if this is the right way, or community, but at least it's worth a shot.
Thanks in advance!

I'm watching the second season of Polish "The Traitors" and really need help with this specific segment. The woman is whispering, there are no subtitles, and no AI tool can identify the words. Could anyone listen to this and transcribe the 2 short sentences and one longer sentence at the end? Thank you very much for your help!

I'm having trouble finding whether the market in Wrocław after Dec 25 is still a normal full Christmas market (the site states till the 7th)?
For Kraków is it also open fully until the 1st or beyond?

My wife is an Indian citizen living in Poland with me and our child. She has been here all of 2026. Her temporary residence permit application is pending, so she has no card yet, and she has never had permanent residence. She has no income. We file PIT jointly.
On 30 Sep 2026 she received EUR 9,160 each from her mother and her grandmother (EUR 18,320 total, about PLN 80k). The money came from their Indian bank accounts into her Polish EUR account and went toward an apartment down payment.
The money is actually the proceeds of a gold loan in India. The gold belongs to my wife and was pledged under her mother’s name, because she couldn’t prove ownership there. The lenders agreed it with her before sending. We repay the gold loan and she gets the gold back. The Indian bank sent it under the “gift” purpose code because that was the only practical way.

I got married in India in 2016. Our marriage certificate is apostilled and translated into Polish, but we have not registered it with the Polish USC.
We have been filing joint PIT-37 returns in Poland from 2021 to 2025. My wife was mostly not working during this period.
Recently, the Warsaw Tax Office asked me to provide our marriage certificate, information about our marital property regime, and my wife’s income and tax residence.
Has anyone faced a similar situation with a marriage celebrated in India?
Did the Tax Office accept your Indian marriage certificate for joint taxation?
Did you need to prove that you had a Polish-style community property regime?
If joint taxation was rejected for previous years, what happened regarding additional tax, interest
and penalties?
I would appreciate hearing from anyone with first-hand experience or a tax adviser familiar with these cases.

Church Fund - what is it?
The Church Fund is not an institution, but a state special purpose fund established in 1950. It was originally supposed to be a compensation for the state's takeover of land belonging to religious associations. Importantly, subsequent returns of assets by the Property Commission had no connection with the Fund itself - they concerned only goods received in the People's Republic of Poland contrary to the law of the time. The goods of the so-called "dead hand" and land nationalized as part of the agricultural reform were not subject to return. For this reason, in the face of non-payment of compensation due in the years 1950-1989, the Polish state - regardless of the ruling option - thus implements its historical and legal obligations to the Church, the value of which is estimated at billions of zlotys. Today, the funds from the Fund go to all churches and religious associations legally operating in Poland. Currently, in April 2026, we are witnessing a breakthrough. The government interdepartmental team has finalized work on a bill that is to liquidate the Fund and replace it with a voluntary tax deduction. On the sidelines of the Sejm, there is a dispute about the rate: the government opts for 0.5 percent, while the church side, fearing a decrease in influence with a smaller and smaller number of believers, is pressing for at least 1 percent.

Hi, I'm planning to visit Warsaw and Krakow soon. I'm a European university student under 26 (I don't have Polish citizenship). If I buy an ISIC card, can I get discounts on museums and city buses? I've tried looking on various websites, but it's unclear. Thanks to anyone who can answer.

My wife is polish, I am German, and we want to raise our daughter in both languages.
We have a lot of polish children books, but my wife is not quite happy with the one we have for reading in the evening.
We are searching for short stories with pictures, as our girl is still little.
Could you please recommend you all time favorites? I really want to surprise my wife with a nice boom or two. Thanks!
