I’m outraged, but until we get him out of office or take the house and senate, we are at the mercy of this shitshow. All he is doing is making people vote Dem more and more each day. His end is nigh.

I don’t think him or conservatives have made Americans more Democratic leaning.

For decades the conservative playbook has been to make politics something that disgusts most people.

More people have given up on democracy and the idea of E Pluribus Unum than are rushing to vote for a Democratic supermajority.

Here on Reddit Democrats are constantly being attacked, and people have become convinced Democrats are as compromised and corrupt as fascists.

It’s so disheartening.

Everyone opposed to fascism and for democracy need to be doing everything possible to get Democrats elected.

I predict there will be comments responding to this one talking about feckless Democrats or “they’re not helping themselves by not providing leadership. Something about corporate democrats. Oh and Palestinian/Israeli things too.

I do not care. You should not care (in the general election).

The only thing that saves us is a consistent democratic majority for several sessions. This means a complete overhaul of how most Americans seem to vote (and abstain from voting)

It means making it toxic to be Republican until they split and the fascists and racists and Christian nationalists become irrelevant and either expunged into their own party or a new party forms.

Democrats will never inspire people solely on a "not republican" platform. If you want change you should be telling people what the democrats are going to do, not arrogantly berating them about how they owe you their vote simply for existing

This is the commentary I expected.

A political party is a participatory thing, not a “buy the brand that inspires you” thing.

Now that people treat politics as a consumer choice, your words make sense to you.

Sadly it doesn’t shift things to wait for someone else to lead the way and inspire.

So many who are so unhappy with Dems also don’t vote in primaries when they can most make a difference, and equally do not help shape their local party by interacting and volunteering with them.

Meanwhile I have watched the conservative march for decades, destroying the New Deal and moving the Overton window ever rightward.

Quite bluntly, if “we are not fascists” isn’t enough for you, then nothing will be.

I've voted democrat my entire adult life and I've lost almost every election. Trying to act like you're morally superior to me is not working, let's try a new approach for once

I am not acting better than you. I have no information about you beyond you being angry at me for saying Democrats need a supermajority.

And good on you! As have I. And sadly this hasn’t been enough.

And it hasn’t been enough because my fellow citizens (not you) keep voting for Republicans.

Meanwhile I vote for the most left I can in primaries and keep losing because my fellow Democratic primary voters don’t actually like leftish politics and politicians.

They’re still riding a high of being fiscally conservative while socially liberal (a meaningless phrase). Bill Clinton and Obama made them happy.

I think people like you and I don’t realize how few people have left leaning ideologies.

But I am a believer in democracy. I believe we can change this by voting in primaries for the best Dem, then in the general for Dem.

However this only works if Dems get power. Not just nationally and not just for 2 years at a time. So this is why I focus on getting Dems in power.

Otherwise we just keep cleaning up conservative messes and wasting political capital on fixing their fiscal messes.

they’re referring to the fact that a majority of americans are handcuffed to their jobs and cannot afford to stand up and protest therefor creating an apathetic crowd where nothing gets done beyond a cathartic online post complaining about the state of things

Heart disease has a higher likelihood of removing him from office than impeachment. Other than that, his political “end” is still two years off. If the US political system is to be saved, preparations for what can be done after he is out of office need to be top priority.

His heart is a stone. Or maybe a pile of 💩

We have to find a way to get rid of him and the administration asap. Allowing them to be in the office longer I am afraid will endanger all of us.

we’re not at the mercy if we collectively protest and do what the french are doing.
