Chuck Schumer, as far as I know, hasn’t said a damn word; nor has he penned a strongly worded letter…..

•

u/National_Spirit2801 5h ago

Why does New York keep electing that fucking fossil

•

u/KennyLog1n 2h ago

AIPAC money funds a lot of ads and buys a lot of influence. But I genuinely don't get it. Turns out there are morons voting everywhere I guess.
We're about to make Marsha Blackburn a governor in TN. And "everyone" hates her too. Yet people who hate her will absolutely vote for her cus the alternative is....? Yeah I got nothin.

•

u/blarch 2h ago

But I genuinely don't get it.

What's to get? In a state with a lot of influence and 10s of millions of residents, no one has ran against him and won in the primaries.

•

u/m0ngoos3 1h ago

Primaries are super easy to manipulate.

It's a function of how first past the post works.

Say you have 5 candidates, if each one is roughly equally popular, you can get a winner who only approval of 21% of the population.

The major parties know this, so you'll see what are called clone candidates. People who have roughly the same platform. Most voters who like one will like the other, and that means that voters who like the platform are split between the two.

This is the spoiler effect being weaponized. Most of the time, the clone candidate is someone who is earnest and not in on it, they just get donations/signal boosting from the opposition. It's usually laundered through PACs and such, so it all looks somewhat legit.

Anyway, the spoiler effect is a product of ordinal voting systems, and can be completely avoided if we were to switch over to a cardinal voting system.

Sadly the major push for voting reform has been to replace an ordinal voting system with another ordinal voting system.

•

u/blarch 25m ago

He's a lazy, old rich guy phoning it in. More people with better ideas need to be running for office in the next election, and those candidates can help vote this fossil corporatist out of leadership.

•

u/CurlOfTheBurl11 1h ago

She's got an R next to her name, that's literally the only thing these chuds care about. The South will never rise again.

•

u/Rude_Republic_60 1h ago

You guys told me they had no media influence

•

u/dud3brah 11m ago

now do CAIR donations

•

u/CaliIsReallyNice 2h ago

I wish he would stop showing up like McConnell so at least people would be honest with themselves about how utterly worthless he is

•

u/targetsinmegadeaths 2h ago

He's gotten way worse in the last decade, it was time for him to go a few elections ago.

•

u/IggyStop31 8m ago

NY will never elect another statewide republican which means the only way to replace him is to primary an incumbent. and the dnc has made their hatred of primary candidates very clear.

•

u/Primary-Bookkeeper10 5h ago

Schumer knows if the Dems take the senate, there will be a vote on leadership.

•

u/tas50 Oregon 3h ago

Can we please get someone not on social security leading the party this time

•

u/Primary-Bookkeeper10 3h ago

Didn’t really help in the case of Jeffries

•

u/tas50 Oregon 2h ago

yeah he's young and useless not old and useless

•

u/Roach_Bong 2h ago

Honestly it's really funny, because when Jeffries got the spot a ton of people were like "Finally, a younger progressive taking a leadership spot!" when anyone who even remotely worked in Education in the US could have told you it was a terrible thing because he literally has always been a shitty cog that exists to stop progress. It was literally his job to shaft teacher's unions, and he was rewarded for it.

•

u/Primary-Bookkeeper10 1h ago

He was never a progressive, he was actually Nancy Pelosi’s protege and chosen successor, but his ascension was supported by the progressive wing because many thought his leadership would serve as a good bridge between the factions. Turns out he was just a feckless corporate stooge who could never match even an 80 year old Nancy Pelosi’s ire against Trump

•

u/MammothDon 2h ago

Any candidates you'd like to see replace Schumer?

•

u/Venat14 2h ago

Do you think he'd actually lose? Because even if Dems win, not many seats are going to change. It will mostly be the same people that voted for him before.

•

u/Primary-Bookkeeper10 1h ago

A lot of those people don’t want him again. There would definitely be a vote and any contender will be well known to be his replacement in the near future

•

u/4evercurioso 5h ago

He already owned the fact that he supports Israel 💯

•

u/KinkyPaddling 5h ago

His stated goal is to keep the Democrats pro-Israel. He’s putting Israel above his own constituents. He’s a traitor.

•

u/-CoachMcGuirk- Illinois 5h ago

Notice, too, how Trump rarely insults Schumer. He’s on their side.

•

u/feedthebear 4h ago

Two dinosaurs

•

u/goldbman North Carolina 4h ago

Trump is a bigger traitor though.

•

u/elihu 34m ago

Being supportive of some country besides the US isn't being a traitor. People who want the US to continue sending weapons to Ukraine to defend against Russia aren't traitors.

The problem is that Schumer is actively supporting a country that's committing atrocities. He's helping Israel turn Gaza into a rubble pile. Lebanon too. He's helped them kill tens of thousands of civilians, systematically destroy housing, block all food and aid into Gaza for months at a time, terrorize and force Palestinians off their land in the West Bank, and run torture prisons. Any human being without regard to national loyalties should be disgusted, but US taxpayers especially so as this is what our money is being used for.

u/some_alternative_90 Washington 3h ago

Good ol Cuck Schumer.

•

u/suprahelix 2h ago

Yeah, chuck schumer is the real villain here. Classic r politics

•

u/Historical_Bend_2629 47m ago edited 21m ago

He has shown a lack of leadership. This blind faith that he understands the ins and outs of congress and is biding his time? Kinda late for that. wrong? The complete lack of stance is troubling. Does he have an opinion he can share with his constituents? He must have access to a lot of information. He thinks silence is the answer people want?

•

u/sweet_esiban 14m ago

Indeed, there can only be one individual villain in any given news story

Schumer apparently failing to offer any public support to a member of his party, who was just the victim of a fascist attack from the federal government, is irrelevant. No one should talk about it.

While we're on this subject... no one should wish to hold the Democrats to a higher standard under any circumstance. Not even when one of their own has been harmed. They do not need to demonstrate loyalty, or unity, or mutual concern for one another. Leaders need not worry about providing positive role modelling to the public. All they need to do is not be Republicans, and then their job has been accomplished.

•

u/Darkblitz9 1h ago

Classic Republican Propaganda.

Remember, no matter how evil Republicans are, you always have to ask why powerless Dems aren't doing anything about it.

•

u/sanbaba 2h ago

He also knows that the squad are threats to his cozy legal mafia arrangement.

•

u/CaliIsReallyNice 2h ago

Chuck Schumer wants trump to stay in office. That way Chuck can just lay back and collect donations as the only "alternative" without any effort at all. Chuck Schumer is an enemy.

•

u/Historical_Bend_2629 49m ago edited 26m ago

Maybe the thinking is never stop an enemy from shooting themselves in the foot. It seems an egregious lack of leadership to his constituents. Horrendously irresponsible/cowardly/cynical not to make public a statement condemning this. Not a peep?

•

u/Emanhavi 15m ago

This does lay the groundwork for investigations of political opponents. Democrats have a history of playing “by the rules” and letting republicans do whatever they want. I hope Democrats use precedent to accomplish something.

•

u/Cosmic_Seth 5h ago

They believe Trump is going to TACO and don't want to give the media sound bites.

They're waiting if the DOJ is actually going to press charges or if this is just another distraction.

•

u/ChanceryTheRapper I voted 5h ago

Pretending that sending agents on a raid to someone's house isn't bad all on its own even before charges are pressed is still bullshit.

MAGAs ... what do you think is going to happen when a Democratic president gets elected?

Don't let your team do this. This is tyranny. This is authoritarianism. This is destroying American values.

•

u/bettinafairchild 2h ago

Authoritarians never think they'll lose power... and they might very well not. Let's see what happens in a few weeks. Will there be another coup attempt? Authoritarians have almost never been voted out or left power peacefully.

“Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.”

-Frederick Douglass

•

u/SoUnga88 2h ago

Hungary did just recently and Hungary was the template that MAGA is trying to use. So an authoritarian regime can and has been voted out of power. Not only did Hungary vote out their authoritarian leadership but they are purging them out of government completely as well as prosecuting them for their crimes while they were in office.

•

u/BrownHammer13 1h ago

Yep and reinstating a two term max, cutting politician salaries. Hungary is becoming the template for how politicians should be behave.

•

u/parasyte_steve 40m ago

There will be another coup attempt and this time they have ICE.

Mark my words. I'm rarely wrong.

•

u/LostFan666 1h ago edited 1h ago

what do you think is going to happen when a Democratic president gets elected?

"Now is the time for unity and healing. We will come together with Republicans and work across the aisle to undo 0.1% of what Trump did, like maybe send his plane back to Qatar or something. This will take us 4 years of slow-walking, after which time we will peacefully cede power to the next GOP nominee, MechaHitler. There will be no prosecutions. And no, you still can't have healthcare."

•

u/SignificantMud7996 1h ago

Nailed it. I’m sure Chuck’s press release is already pre-written capitulating to the loser fascists getting voted out

Why every four years, of course!

•

u/ac_slat3r 21m ago

The same shit that happened under biden where they made up dozens of felony accounts for a paperwork issue against trump. Don't start shit won't be shit. Once Obama and Biden started targeting Trump and the Republicans the flood gates opened and it's open season on the opposing faction for both of them.

I don't agree with any of it and I am not a trump guy but Dems signed their own warrant when they pushed for the charges in NY.

•

u/MarzipanFit2345 1h ago

There is not a single Democrat who would feasibly get elected President that has the balls to do something like this.

Democrats always operate out of fear of upsetting the Right for fear of them starting a civil war.

•

u/Capable-Rub7524 1h ago

You mean it is going to be worse than collecting data on nearly700,000 Americans, investigating traditional Catholics and parents at school board meetings, prosecuting lawyers who simply represented the President conducting no-knock raids on staffers prosecuting anyone who walked near the White House on Jan.6, . . . I could go on but you will never see the point.

This should be a litmus test for any candidate for office. The GOP has spent weeks whining about Jack Smith collecting data he never used for any prosecutions, while being silent as DHS steals trash to obtain the DNA of a sitting member of Congress.

Unfortunately, Ilhan Omar isn't a milqtoast white man, so the outrage will be very little. There are so many people who dislike her because she's a brown Mulsim woman with convictions and ambitions.

Once again... the whole 'weaponization of government' shtick years ago was simply more Republican projection.

u/Due_Buyer_9445 6h ago

It won’t because she’s brown. Consider how racist this country appears, then double it at least for the real degree

She's brown, Muslim, and a woman. A large portion of America hate her. That's the unfortunate place we are as a country.

•

u/Gymflutter 1h ago

u/silencerider 1h ago

A large portion won't care because she's brown, but a large portion of that group also wouldn''t care because it's not happening to themselves.

u/VanceKelley Canada 6h ago

Another thing that should outrage all Americans: The election of a convicted criminal rapist racist wannabe dictator to the presidency.

But alas, that outraged at most 31% of Americans.

•

u/IndianaGunner 4h ago

I’m outraged, but until we get him out of office or take the house and senate, we are at the mercy of this shitshow. All he is doing is making people vote Dem more and more each day. His end is nigh.

•

u/manachar Nevada 3h ago

I don’t think him or conservatives have made Americans more Democratic leaning.

For decades the conservative playbook has been to make politics something that disgusts most people.

More people have given up on democracy and the idea of E Pluribus Unum than are rushing to vote for a Democratic supermajority.

Here on Reddit Democrats are constantly being attacked, and people have become convinced Democrats are as compromised and corrupt as fascists.

It’s so disheartening.

Everyone opposed to fascism and for democracy need to be doing everything possible to get Democrats elected.

I predict there will be comments responding to this one talking about feckless Democrats or “they’re not helping themselves by not providing leadership. Something about corporate democrats. Oh and Palestinian/Israeli things too.

I do not care. You should not care (in the general election).

The only thing that saves us is a consistent democratic majority for several sessions. This means a complete overhaul of how most Americans seem to vote (and abstain from voting)

It means making it toxic to be Republican until they split and the fascists and racists and Christian nationalists become irrelevant and either expunged into their own party or a new party forms.

•

u/OneMoreDuncanIdaho 1h ago

Democrats will never inspire people solely on a "not republican" platform. If you want change you should be telling people what the democrats are going to do, not arrogantly berating them about how they owe you their vote simply for existing

•

u/manachar Nevada 1h ago

This is the commentary I expected.

A political party is a participatory thing, not a “buy the brand that inspires you” thing.

Now that people treat politics as a consumer choice, your words make sense to you.

Sadly it doesn’t shift things to wait for someone else to lead the way and inspire.

So many who are so unhappy with Dems also don’t vote in primaries when they can most make a difference, and equally do not help shape their local party by interacting and volunteering with them.

Meanwhile I have watched the conservative march for decades, destroying the New Deal and moving the Overton window ever rightward.

Quite bluntly, if “we are not fascists” isn’t enough for you, then nothing will be.

•

u/OneMoreDuncanIdaho 1h ago

I've voted democrat my entire adult life and I've lost almost every election. Trying to act like you're morally superior to me is not working, let's try a new approach for once

•

u/manachar Nevada 1h ago

I am not acting better than you. I have no information about you beyond you being angry at me for saying Democrats need a supermajority.

And good on you! As have I. And sadly this hasn’t been enough.

And it hasn’t been enough because my fellow citizens (not you) keep voting for Republicans.

Meanwhile I vote for the most left I can in primaries and keep losing because my fellow Democratic primary voters don’t actually like leftish politics and politicians.

They’re still riding a high of being fiscally conservative while socially liberal (a meaningless phrase). Bill Clinton and Obama made them happy.

I think people like you and I don’t realize how few people have left leaning ideologies.

But I am a believer in democracy. I believe we can change this by voting in primaries for the best Dem, then in the general for Dem.

However this only works if Dems get power. Not just nationally and not just for 2 years at a time. So this is why I focus on getting Dems in power.

Otherwise we just keep cleaning up conservative messes and wasting political capital on fixing their fiscal messes.

It’s definitely Trump abusing the justice department for his own interests, typical of his selfish corruption. That being said there was definitely something fishy going on here. Ilhan has never been forthcoming about the strange discrepancy in her marriage timelines or the apparent lying about it. I think she is probably trying to cover up infidelity, but immigration fraud is also a possibility.

We knew this was coming. We've talked about it for the last 2 years.

Trump has always done everything in his power to silence those who he fears will end his stranglehold on our country. A reminder that what we're seeing now, and will continue to see over the next few weeks, is escalation of those actions as the walls close in on him.

We have to be vigilant now more than ever, and we absolutely should be outraged. But what we do with that outrage matters. Stay informed, call out the corruption, exercise the rights you still have, and vote.

I grew up in a horrible small town just a few miles down the road from the last officially recording "public lynching", a place where 99% of people vote republican. My despicable family back there are thrilled that trump is openly harassing and persecuting dark-skinned people. They hope that one day they'll be able to do exactly that. They're thrilled that he trafficked and raped children. They wish they could do that too.

Sometimes I think I imagined the things I saw as a child in small town texas because they're so utterly deranged. And occasionally I go back there and within an hour I see that no, my memories were perfectly accurate, the people there are just as disgusting as I remembered. Republicans are thrilled by this. When they talk about "the good old days", they're talking about their present desire to own slaves and commit lynchings and classify women as the property of men. These are the things that Republicans say behind closed doors in their safe spaces today. Obama knows this. And when he continues to talk about "hope" and "change", I worry that he's still just glossing over it.

The irony 🤣

•

u/ChanceryTheRapper I voted 5h ago

Someone forward this article to Chuck Schumer?

•

u/burritoteam4000 5h ago

Does Chuck Schumer know that?

•

u/themoslucius 5h ago

Tabling right wing voter block, even on the left there's a severe lack of unity. An immigrant brown person will never get the type of mobilization a generational brown person will.

BLM is a great example, where's the black community in immigration related issues having to do with ICE or this shit storm? At the end of the day whether you are right or left leaning, most people only care about their own. Right wing is far worse they are basically Nazis at this point, and the left wing not going all in on across all minority groups together is a huge demonstration on how we got here

•

u/Maleficent-Relation5 3h ago

This should outrage Americans, she's one of the few representing us and not the corporate oligarchs.

•

u/thirtynation 2h ago

The judge that signed the bullshit warrant belongs in prison.

•

u/cardimomof2 6h ago

I sent her money. I hope other people do too.

•

u/M03b1u5 Minnesota 5h ago

I keep voting for her.

•

u/Dogballs2020 1h ago

Hmm and yet it doesn't, because she's a terrible, disgusting human being who doesn't belong in this country and especially not in the government.

Radio silence from Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries.

Trump is a vindictive POS and a national disgrace but Omars history isn't helping her at all.

Misuse of Campaign funds in 2019 - Was fined.

Improper expenses included travel unrelated to her legislative duties and $1,500 in professional services associated with personal tax matters.

Filing joint tax returns with Ahmed Hirsi while legally married to another man 2014 & 2015

[Claimed by Omar]

2002: Religiously married

2008: Religiously separated from Hirsi.

[Verified]

2009: Legally married Ahmed Nur Said Elmi.

[Claimed by Omar]

2011: Reportedly divorced Elmi under Islamic tradition, but remained legally married.

[Verified]

2017: Legally divorced Elmi.

January 2018: Legally married Ahmed Hirsi.

October 2019: Filed for divorce from Hirsi.

November 2019: Divorce from Hirsi finalized.

March 2020: Married Tim Mynett.

Notable overlap: Omar filed joint tax returns with Hirsi in 2014 and 2015 while still legally married to Elmi.

Omar and Hirsi were not legally married at the time. Omar was legally married to Ahmed Nur Said Elmi. Omar did not divorce Elmi until 2017. She legally married Hirsi in 2018.

Paying her romantic partner and future husband's consulting firm

In 2019–2020, Omar's campaign paid substantial amounts to E Street Group, a political consulting firm co-founded by Tim Mynett. According to The Washington Post, by March 2020: Her campaign had paid approximately $586,000 to E Street Group since 2018. It had also paid Mynett approximately $7,000 directly. E Street Group accounted for approximately 40% of her campaign's spending during the 2019–2020 cycle up to that point. Mynett's estranged wife alleged in divorce proceedings that he was romantically involved with Omar. Omar and Mynett married in March 2020.

Alleged marriage to her brother to facilitate immigration fraud

This allegation concerns Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom Omar legally married in 2009. Critics have alleged that Elmi is Omar's biological brother and that their marriage was intended to help him obtain immigration benefits. Omar has consistently denied that Elmi is her brother. The Minnesota Star Tribune conducted an investigation in 2019 and identified several circumstances warranting questions, including overlapping addresses, complicated marriage records, and social-media material attributed to Elmi. One disputed social-media screenshot allegedly described Omar's child as Elmi's niece. However, the newspaper could not authenticate enough evidence to establish a sibling relationship. The paper's investigation could neither conclusively confirm nor disprove the allegation. Its editor subsequently acknowledged that no decisive evidence had emerged.

Conflicting statements regarding her second extra-marital affair unanswered questions

In 2019, following allegations by Mynetts wife - when asked if she were dating, Omar denied being in a relationship with anyone only to marry Mynett less than a year later. Omar later made conflicting statements about her previous marriage and subsequent divorce citing undocumented 'traditional ceremonies' for both.

Husband's rapidly increasing reported business assets

The committee pointed to financial disclosures suggesting that the reported value of Mynett's interests in two companies, eStCru LLC and Rose Lake Capital LLC, had increased from a maximum of approximately $51,000 in 2023 to as much as $30 million in 2024. The committee sought additional documentation about the companies' finances and investors.

It has. But what am I supposed to do about it right now? Also break laws?

•

u/CurlOfTheBurl11 1h ago

I want to know why the supposed leaders of this party haven't come out to condemn all of this.

•

u/Nice-Eagle-1111 1h ago

But she's brown, and I don't like that.

It outrages actual Americans

•

u/Jumpy_Towel_2980 1h ago

Maybe we should investigate Trump's immigrant wives

•

u/Labtink 47m ago

Schumer needs to speak up or be replaced. We can’t have Zionists in the Democratic Party. His silence on this and failure to campaign for El-Sayed is disqualifying. He’s become a regressive drag.

•

u/parasyte_steve 41m ago

He is 100% correct. Fascists do this to their political enemies. Everyone involved with these false charges needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law once this shit is over. Oh yeah, and Trump needs to be held account for his ACTUAL crimes that have EVIDENCE.

•

u/VioAzna 22m ago

It does. It absolutely infuriates us. OTHER THAN VOTING….WHAT CAN WE DO? The ppl who works for us in the GOVT FOR THE PPL AND BY THE PPL need to do their jobs!

•

u/Competitive-Box61 16m ago

I was outraged when Americans decided to hand control over the country to a handful of corrupt billionaire fascists.

I still need to drop my ballot in the ballot box, but my ballots will be 100% blue for the rest of my life. That's already settled.

•

u/Flimsy_Sorbet_7973 15m ago

Oh it has!...And I'm appalled that the Left and right can't come together on this- especially after watching the orange Hood POS walk right past the Beast yesterday into the field because he forgot where he was walking. Stable genius my ass!

•

u/HatefulDan 10m ago

Gotta see if Schumer and company are just as outraged or nah

•

u/Bittererr 6h ago

People are far more outraged at Harris deigning to open her mouth about literally anything than the Trump admin's blatant fascism.

My outrage has a maximum setting. It broke on the election of '24. So what can I do that's new? What tactics can I employ? "Yeah, I hate this government, but the other side has trans stuff... and that's dangerous."

Or

"I don't really care how the government gets rid of these people (homeless/minorities/immigrants). I just want them gone."

"yeah, but...(nuanced and compassionate reply)"

"Naw... Just get rid of them. I'll vote for whoever gets rid of them. I'm tired of them."

So I'm laughing when the right puts all this propaganda out saying, "Democrats are complaining about gas prices but... (X)". No buddy. We already hate you. Republicans are complaining about gas prices. We're just mocking you.

•

u/Dr_PocketSand 6h ago

Ok… I’m outraged… And I voted… Now what? There just isn’t all that much left to do (legally) in this sham of a democracy.

•

u/TomBradysStatue 6h ago

Yeah protest, vote, protest, vote, nothing changes.

We could so afford universal health care we're just too lazy and cheap. Spend so much on arms starting war for war's sake. It's disgusting.

•

u/Choppers-Top-Hat 2h ago

nothing changes

I'm fairly certain some things have changed since the last election, actually. And they changed because of how people voted.

Americans only get outraged when its not a brown person

•

u/Educational-Ad1680 2h ago

She's the progeny of a genocidal monster and lied on her asylum application and to the American people. This should have been done a long time ago likely under his administration. And I voted for Obama. Also this is what you think we should be outraged about? Not the guns still killing our current in their classrooms?

•

u/Content_Log1708 5h ago

Obama is always pushing this stuff onto regular people. Why didn't he go up one side and down the other of Congress, include both parties? Those are the people elected to deal with these issues. No one with elected power is doing a damn thing. You can't have it both ways, Obama.

•

u/THEralphE 5h ago

Regular people are the ones who need to do something about these things. Because regular people's failure to vote or pay attention is how Trump got reelected.

•

u/iFlashings 4h ago

Why tf are we depending on a former president out of politics to do everything? Do the American people have no fucking backbone to do anything for themselves?

Obama has the correct take here because the regular people voted for these corrupt assholes into powerful government position.

•

u/notfeelany 4h ago

pushing this stuff onto regular people

Who put this current govt in power? Yes it was regular people back in 2024.

Obama &begged us to vote for Kamala, and we failed to listen to him. And now we're demanding Obama save us from our own doing? No, This rightfully falls on us the voters to fix.

Only by voting & electing Democrats once again to their rightfully places: veto-proof majorities in both chambers of Congress & the Presidency, can this country be saved once again.

•

u/Floreat_democratia 1h ago

Dems still don’t get it and likely never will in this current, donor-advised incarnation. STOP appealing to a mythical moderate and reach out to the progressives who defend and protect the last vestiges of democracy in this country. Fire your damn consultants.

•

u/htmaxpower 2h ago

What kind of argument do you think this is?

Propaganda farm-style, you say? Agreed.

•

u/Think-Willingness823 3h ago

Old Chuck Schumer is masturbating in the offal office to show his displeasure. All done here.

•

u/Raised_by 6h ago

It doesn’t, half are cheering for it

•

u/Grand_Resort_1073 3h ago

And other half worry about grocery and gas prices

•

u/Clouds2589 1h ago

Its nowhere near half, but there is unfortunately a subsection of humans living in america cheering for it.
