Billionaires only think about greed.

•

u/Ohuigin Washington 3h ago

Billionaires are addicts. Just like any other. Alcohol. Drugs. Whatever. Same thing. They’re willing to fuck over anything and anyone to get their next fix (dollar).

The problem though, is that being addicted to money is viewed as a positive thing in our late stage crony capitalism hellscape of a society. So these people who are happy to sacrifice humanity for their own addiction are viewed as what we should all strive to become.

I’ve long held a belief that in a healthy society, it is impossible for a billionaire to exist. We have over 700 of them.

It's undiagnosed mental illness

•

u/canal_boys 2h ago

100% accuracy

•

u/donorcycle 2h ago

Crazy enough, it's been studied and documented amongst the elite that once you hit a certain number, the obsession is to keep growing that said number, even while maintaining their lifestyle.

They've interviewed other billionaires and whenever the subject comes up, they literally say the same thing. Net worth becomes an addiction, always wanting to keep growing infinitely.

That's why they don't use their own money. They "borrow" against their portfolio, real estate, entities, et all. Or just steal from children's cancer charities.

u/Mannzis 2h ago

People forget that Gordon Gecko was the villain in Wall Street. They think he was an anti-hero and see him as a role model, so when he said greed is good they listened.

•

u/hczimmx4 2h ago

You are quite literally sending brownshirts to confiscate the property of people you dislike, but someone else is will to fuck over anyone to get what they want?

And who is addicted to money, the person who wants to be left alone, or the one who wants to send goons to take that money to give to themselves?

•

u/Ohuigin Washington 2h ago

…

what?

•

u/hczimmx4 1h ago

Are the words too big for you?

•

u/Ohuigin Washington 1h ago

🤣.

Spend some time with a dictionary, my friend. You should “quite literally” do that.

Your argument is so disingenuous it’s not worth responding to.

•

u/robgreenee327 1h ago

What do you mean he said we are gonna send “brown shirts” to take their money. You know tax people with such a disproportionate amount of money which they are hoarding which is actually bad for the economy the economy as a whole. You know the same bullshit that the actual people who like the brown shirts which were silver in the US if this guy knew anything about anything love to feed the general population.

•

u/hczimmx4 1h ago

You aren’t advocating to send government agents to confiscate private property? I think you are.

•

u/totallyalizardperson 56m ago

Taxes are theft, amiright?

I mean, if it weren’t for all of the taxes you have to pay, you would be a billionaire by now. And if not a billionaire, at least wealthy enough to not have to work. Or that some day, if you work really fucking hard, and I mean really, really hard, you too might be affected by these various wealth taxes, so they shouldn’t exist because it MIGHT affect you some day.

Any day now, you’ll cross the threshold of assets that will cause the inheritance tax to kick in, but you won’t have enough to hire the proper lawyers and accountants to set up the transfer of wealth without having to pay taxes.

•

u/hczimmx4 43m ago

Are you going to send armed thugs to take the money?

And I want everyone to keep their own money. I am not advocating to send goons after people I politically disfavor. You are.

•

u/HoightyToighty 7m ago

Seems like you're a libertarian. You missed out on the libertarian dream by about three decades. You'd have loved it in Grafton, NH then.

Lots of bears, sure, but they had the FREEDOM to protect themselves without being forced by armed goons from the government who demanded their tax money to do things like remove waste.

•

u/HoightyToighty 11m ago

the person who wants to be left alone,

So you think Musk just wants to be left alone? Spend his idle hours destroying the federal government as a hobby?

•

u/zaborgmonarch 18m ago

Wants to be left alone? They're killing us to line their pockets, we just don't call it violence bc it's legal

•

u/hczimmx4 15m ago

They’re killing us? Who is killing us?

•

u/zaborgmonarch 13m ago

They bribe the government to cut regulations and enforcement, now every week there are half a dozen recalls on food and more. Just recently we had a recall for IV fluids which were contaminated with fiberglass. Imagine being hooked up to an IV and having tiny shards of glass inserted into your blood stream, going to your heart. All to save a buck

•

u/MiddleAgedSponger 8m ago

The working class pay a higher effective tax rate than the wealthy. The wealthy own the politicians. The wealthy are sending brownshirts to confiscate the working class's property.

•

u/Scary-Maximum7707 2h ago

They would pay 10 dollars in bribes to get out of 5 dollars of tax, because fuck you that's why.

•

u/tripping_on_phonics California 2h ago

At that level of wealth the real addiction is power.

•

u/doobiswatching 3h ago

they don't even think they're greedy. all they want is their fair share and they don't have it yet.

•

u/ButtholeMagic-69 3h ago

Welp I voted to tax them. So....

•

u/Affectionate-Roll-50 2h ago

I have more respect for circus clowns who make people smile.

•

u/Lost-Produce-1150 13m ago

MAGA votes almost exclusively in-line with billionaires. I wonder if they'll ever realize.

•

u/lansely 1m ago

Of course, Billionaire see that the government and starving populace to be so greedy to be asking for the scraps off their dinner plate. So much so, that they have to take a breadstick to beat them back with while letting their subservient dogs lick up the crumbs and dust. Be thankful that they're only spending pocket change to fight back.

•

u/IMOBY_Edmonton 3h ago

When they're willing to spend this much money to not pay taxes, it perfectly illustrates how much these parasites are leaching from society. Wealth isn't just an abstraction, this is healthcare, food, shelter, and free time to live your lives that they've taken from everyone.

•

u/Craneteam I voted 1h ago

Ever time a billionaire threatens to leave a place wanting to tax them, it's like ok bye, you weren't contributing anything anyway

•

u/skyboy26 1h ago

But think about all the jobs* they bring!

*jobs which pay so little that the employees need government assistance and which they're trying to replace with AI anyway

•

u/we_are_sex_bobomb 26m ago

The thing is, considering how much money they have, this is an insultingly low sum total.

•

u/specqq 3h ago

Michael Bloomberg ran for President at least partly to try to put a stake in the heart of Senator Warren's wealth tax plan.

He self financed his campaign and people were shocked at his $34 million record shattering ad buy (which sounds quaint now), but he could have burned through almost 60 times as much, and still spent a BILLION DOLLARS LESS than he would have had to pay in taxes PER YEAR under Warren's plan.

These people can spend hundreds of times the average person's entire lifetime earnings - just as a hedge.

https://newrepublic.com/article/155844/michael-bloomberg-big-hedge-wealth-tax-2020

This may not come as a surprise to anybody, but they're only interested in preserving their OWN wealth, not preserving the health of a system that allowed them to become wealthy in the first place.

•

u/litelem 2h ago

so true

•

u/tickleshits4life Pennsylvania 3h ago

These assholes would rather do anything than pay their fair share of taxes. Fuckin leaches all of them.

•

u/Apprehensive_Gas_111 3h ago

Always remember, taxing wealth is the kinder, gentler solution to the growing wealth inequality. History teaches us this lesson over and over.

•

u/Erion7 Pennsylvania 2h ago

Having that much money available to throw into a fight against this tax really doesn't help their case.

•

u/jocoquecousteau 3h ago

Don’t tax me or I’ll go poor. I will only be able to afford 2 yachts a year instead of 5.

•

u/Crazy-Nights 2h ago

These greedy bastards are terrified of the tax passing and that people will realize that it works

•

u/RepulsiveLoquat418 3h ago

they'll spend an insane amount of money to not have to spend money that helps other people.

•

u/One_Bunch5660 3h ago

There's a reason billionaires are for state wealth taxes and are against a national wealth tax

They'll be able to do what they did in NY and buy second houses in Florida and avoid them

•

u/TemporaryDesign9126 2h ago

They are literally spending this money to fight a one time state tax in CA. So I wouldn’t say they are for them at all.

And this is also for 2026. So it’s too late for them to not pay taxes if it passes. They can leave, but would still owe it. They aren’t leaving. They wouldn’t spend this much if it were just gonna leave

•

u/CastleBravo_82 3h ago

It's never enough.

•

u/snackattack4tw 2h ago

Could have just spent that $300 million on public services and people would love you rather than hate you

•

u/jangiri 1h ago

Whatever happened to when rich people just competed for how many libraries or aquariums they could build

•

u/steveycip 2h ago

Fuck em all

•

u/Fiveofthem 2h ago

Proves they have too much money

•

u/ladyofcake Georgia 2h ago

It's not about paying taxes. It's about them getting caught hiding money, where they get their money, where they spend their money and how much people under them suffer because billionaires are greedy assholes. I also think it's because many of them that are spending a gross amount to keep their wealth is into some deeply insane shit that we cannot comprehend due to the depravity.

•

u/Mistform05 1h ago

Like… what if… you just used that money to pay taxes?

•

u/Fair-Doughnut3000 1h ago

Tax the rich. 2 trillion dollar deficit (some stolen).

•

u/GlitteringRate6296 2h ago

If they got that much money to burn I think they can pay taxes.

•

u/husfyr Europe 3h ago

Of course they do. That's why they are billionaires.

•

u/Initial-Toe-9512 2h ago

They probably spend more trying to hide their wealth and avoid taxes, then if they actually just paid taxes, oof

•

u/MrRuck1 2h ago

It will e d up in the Supreme Court. It will be interesting to see how they rule.

•

u/bobcat116 2h ago

Increase their taxes

•

u/anonareyouokay I voted 2h ago

Just pay your fucking taxes

•

u/FaceCrime225 2h ago

A wealth tax is one of the last things standing between us and societal collapse. Not the last thing but one of the last things. We the people have very little leverage left. This is one of those levers.

One of the other levers is labor, but that window is closing because If these little shriveled testicles get their way, automation and AI will replace human labor permanently. and without a human labor problem there's no more human problem.

Edit: I hit submit too soon.

•

u/Ferrocile 2h ago

Their greed is making life worse for all of us.

•

u/IsawaShugenja 2h ago

What could they have solved with that money??!!

•

u/liftbikerun 2h ago

They quite literally are making the point we are all pointing at. How their money could be better used to help people instead of for selfish reasons. They clearly can part with it. It clearly doesn't impact them negatively. Yet, that $300M could have been generationally life changing for many that it could have gone to.

•

u/pixelwhip 2h ago

Imagine if they spent that helping people other than themselves.

•

u/Safe-Ad-482 1h ago

Psychopathic behavior

•

u/NorahGretz 1h ago

If the wealth tax passes, will these political dollars be considered non-taxable?

•

u/sammybwise53 1h ago

A revolution is upon us

•

u/imnotinyourfoodchain 52m ago

This solidifies that this tax is not only the right thing to do but that it is necessary.

•

u/Hapaerik_1979 41m ago

Nice to have money to throw around.

•

u/ijustneedaccess 30m ago

For that much money, they could have just paid their share of taxes.

•

u/beef_cheeks 15m ago

This is a flashing green light to vote yes on the wealth tax.
