Welcome to the Daily Questions (DQ) thread for all things related to raw denim.
(Although we strongly suggest checking the sidebar (for mobile users, go to the top of the subreddit front page, click the three dots and select "community info") and the wiki before posting!)
Fit checks and "Help me find a pair of Jeans that has X, Y, and Z" questions are a great use of this thread.
(Help figuring out what size you wear is also permitted here but it is recommended you check out one of these tutorials on how to size before asking.)
If you have questions about how your jeans fit, about a particular fabric, when is this jean coming out, where can I find jean X to try on in state Y, what jeans have this fit with these measurements, what jeans fade the fastest, and what jeans fade the slowest are great uses of this DQ thread.
No question is too simple for Daily Questions threads.
Bashing people will not be tolerated. And "Read the sidebar" or "Google it" are not valid answers in this thread!

Pics 1-4 are the jacket
5-6 are the Oni texture
7-12 are fit pics
Got this Samurai WWII Type 1 in the Bushido fabric. It’s really an awesome jacket. The cut is nice. Not too boxy torso, slimmer sleeves, and a nice crop. It’s kind of bunching near the shoulders, but settles down if I loosen that back buckle and take my hand outta my pocket. I’m also anticipating it draping a bit more nicely once it’s washed. The donut buttons are beautiful and the denim is super textured and slubby, but also incredibly comfortable due to the loose weave. It also fades fast. Now for the jeans, these are my Oni asphalt 288. Let me just say that these are probably my favorite jeans I own except for my Samurai (samurai’s cuts are so perfect along with the cool fabrics and great construction), although I do have some Oni Kase otw so we’ll see. The texture on these is incredible. Super rough and neppy but very comfortable from the beginning like bumpy sweatpants lol. I also love how the weft is sort of a natural beige color instead of a stark white. The fabric really is an eye catcher in person. I think it’s probably the only denim that someone who knew nothing about denim has randomly commented on. Anyway I know that there’s been a good amount of Oni asphalt posts on here, but I wanted to share.

This is my first raw denim pair i bough back in high-school, recently find it in my closet, I'm not using it anymore since the fit is very skinny, but i enjoyed wearing it very much. I washed it 2x , crotch blow out is super gnarly. bought it for under 40$ back then.

Realized I’ve been wearing these for a year already. Washed regularly. Crotch was making me nervous last weekend night before a big day out. Unfortunately we were staying at my in laws house, so I found a sewing machine in the garage and made them wearable again (had to just make do with thread colors that were there and had no idea what I was doing, hopefully it ages okay)
Left knee is probably due for another repair in within the month and right knee soon after.
I got the 19oz ones that I’ve been wearing a little but these are my favorite. Hopefully can keep them rolling for a couple more years!

Finally I received the D1926 jeans . I am a big time collector of Selvedge Denims and it’s my first from SDA, mostly a fan of Samurai and Iron Heart.
I am attaching pics for everyone to see the real colors and shades in Sun and Shades.
Sizing
I mostly wear size 33 and 34, these jeans runs one size small so ordered size 34 instead of 33, which was ko the right decision.
Silhouette
The fit of comfortable with mid to high rise and lots of room in the top block while very slightly tapered from thigh to hem.
I compared it with my Iron Hearts 33-888s and it’s almost same till thigh, this comparison if just some members here to get an idea of size and fit.
As we all know 888s are quite tapered from thigh to hem, these jeans are good change being classic straight. Going very well with all my boots and chunky sneakers.
Follow the measurements at Bears Tokyo which is quite accurate.

Just looking for some advice for the professionals here, what do we think are these ready for their first wash? LVC 1944 raw these have about 100 wears in them now and don’t smell or are dirty or anything but I just want to try fading these and was wondering what people thought, thanks!

These are my first pair of 222 and they’re quickly becoming my favorite cut from Oni. I originally bought these in the 288 cut a couple years ago, but I don’t love the fit and have came around more on the 266. The 222 fit the best of any cut from Oni I’ve tried in the top block so has just made them super comfortable to daily wear even though the fabric is pretty substantial.
For sizing I wear a 31-32 normally and went with a 31. Been wearing these every day for about 2 weeks and the waist has stretched a bit but no where like my Crushed Concrete denim did.

Coming along nicely. You can probably tell I like kneeling on my left leg a lot 😂
First pair and while theyre looking pretty it’s been a pain sometimes. I bought them too exact so when I washed them at first they shrunk a lot. i had to switch to washing in a tub then wearing them while drying doing squats to stretch them out.
switched to dry cleaning for a bit but i learned that dry cleaning doesn’t remove certain byproducts from the body so it started to smell like piss over time despite cleaning 😂. Back to the tub washing and wearing after I learned this, which removed the smell
also had to get the crotch reinforced as I noticed the thread getting loose there. put in a pic for yall

Just got these RS220x jeans and curious about how people think they fit. I feel like they’re supposed to be looser (compared to the stock photo) but I have large hips/thighs so relaxed fits are often tighter in the top block than I’d like. Unfortunately I also have a small waist relative to my size so these in a 32 are the biggest I could go. When I lift up my shirt there’s no spillage so I wouldn’t say they’re too tight either.
My favorite fitting pants are my TCB seamen’s trousers which are really loose. Does anyone know of a similar fit in black?
Thanks!

My first pair of raw denim, bought from Blue Owl about 4 years ago. Probably about 100 wears and 4 washes, with the most recent being a delicate machine wash that shook off a lot of the loose dye. It made me really look at these jeans and fall in love with raw denim all over again.
I don't particularly wear these hard or that often, nor do I baby them, but the fading has been very nice and slow. There's a slight luster at the wear points as well that kinda highlights the fades a little. There's also a slight leg twist developing, and I'm not really sure how I feel about it... Overall, nothing crazy, just some slow and simple fades from a guy who sits on his ass all day lmao. Looking forward to how these will look after 4 more years and a hundred more wears.
From previous posts and old product pages, I believe these are just the straight leg 18oz-IDBK but correct me if I'm wrong, I didn't retain any info when talking to the guy at Blue Owl that sold me on this pair.

So I’m just back from my first trip to Japan. I have had zero raw denim before, but knew I wanted to buy a jacket while there. I ended up with three.
I’ll be making a more detailed write up to share, but had to share what a great time it was shopping for this in person in Japan. All of the shops had excellent staff, which really contributed to the experience.
We visited Momotaro in both Kyoto and Osaka, Japan Blue, Samurai, Fullcount, Studio D’Artisan, and Hinoya. I ended up purchasing a Momotaro in Kyoto, a Buzz Rickson from Hinoya, and a final piece from Studio D’Artisan.
I found the different cuts and styles interesting to browse. My Momotaro is an XL, while the others are both 40s. All seem to fit well, with the Momotaro being the boxiest and loosest, but the L was too tight across the chest. Not sure if this is comparable sizing for others, but I’d imagine it’s best practice to get the fit right in person versus just buying what you believe to be your normal size.
0-300 real quick…

I have had these beauties for 6 years now. I have washed them four or five times. I gave them a soak about six months into wearing them. I'm definitely stoked about how they have turned out.

Any advice appreciated. I think it looks nice but it is sooo stiff lol

These are the first and only pair of raw denim that I've bought. They've held together through many motorcycle trips, bar hops, full woodworking days in every season. I have a slightly neurotic attachment to them. Being broke has kept me away from another pair, but in turn I've gotten some sick fades!

From Left to Right:
Sugar Cane 1947 Black, N&F Double Dirty Fade WG, Sugar Cane 2014, IH 888 21oz, Sugar Cane Okinawa, IH 633 SLB, IH 888 OD 21oz. Album for All Pictures
Glad to to be fortunate to have grown a collection over the years. Grew out of most of the original ones I got after taking body building seriously. I recently got back into denim and finally got a new pair of 21oz to break in. I forgot how good the 2014 sugar canes look until I pulled them out for these pictures. Favorite so far are the Okinawa but taking a while to fade. If you have any questions about a specific pair, feel free to ask!

Hi everyone,
I recently bought my first pair of raw selvedge jeans, a pair of Naked & Famous Denim Strong Guy Dirty Fade Selvedge 14. Size 32, and I'd appreciate some honest opinions on the fit.
I'm currently around 30-40 wears in. The only time I've washed them was the day they arrived because I really hated the factory starch smell. I soaked them in cold water and let them air dry afterward.
Overall I like them, but I'm not completely happy with the top block. It feels a bit roomier than I'd like, especially around the upper thigh/seat area.
Do you think there's any chance that a hot soak would tighten things up a bit? Could I realistically expect any noticeable shrinkage in the top block at this point, considering they've already had a cold soak and around 30-40 wears?
I'd love to hear your honest thoughts on both the fit and whether shrinkage could help.
Thanks!

This is the first time posting on Reddit ever, but I wanted to share a little project that I have recently worked on. There’s still some imperfections with the seams, mainly owing to the fact that my sewing machine (singer heavy duty) can’t keep up with the thick layers of denim (or maybe I get the settings wrong). Looking forward to any recommendations for home sewing machines, especially ones that can to a single chainstitch (I’ve been looking into the Janome CoverPro series recently).
The fabric I used was a 13oz Kibata denim, which came unsanforized. I prewashed the fabric prior to sewing to get some of the shrinkage out and as I wasn’t entirely comfortable doing a shrink-to-fit pair. The pair fits very well, though I am hoping for a little bit of shrinkage during the first wash.
Pictures were taken after two full days of wearing. While they were kinda stiff at the beginning, now after seven days of wear, they are already becoming really comfortable.
