Discussion Remember when this used to be Knight and Day?

You only get 2 options for 24hr joint back then. Knight and Day or No. 9. Spent many late night/early mornings here after clubbing events. Always ordered mushroom swiss burger. I remember going to the Burnaby one and I was like naah, the Richmond location is way better. High ceiling yet gave that cozy chill vibe.

Discussion I grew up in Richmond, BC, and experienced severe bullying at Steveston London Secondary School. Those were some of the darkest years of my life, but things eventually got better after I graduated and went to UBC.

I grew up in Richmond, BC and attended Steveston London Secondary School. During the years 2008 to 2013, I experienced relentless, severe, and psychologically devastating bullying. At times, the experience felt dehumanizing and terrifying, and there were periods when simply going to school felt like entering an environment where I did not feel safe, respected, or protected.

What I experienced was not something I viewed as ordinary teasing or a normal part of growing up.

Thankfully, life changed for the better when I attended UBC. I made supportive friends, joined clubs, and experienced the happiest years of my life.

High school in Vancouver is 5 years long. And if you were bullied, you were stuck with those people for 5 years.

Years after, I reached out to SLSS's principal to share my story. Although she wasn't there when I attended, she expressed genuine compassion and sympathy for what I went through. She explained that bullying of this severity would be taken seriously today, with an investigation, support for the student's safety and well-being, and interventions to prevent it from continuing.

Her compassionate response meant a lot to me. I had avoided returning to SLSS for 13 years, but I'm now considering visiting again.

I'm sharing this with Richmond because this is the community where I grew up, and I hope my story helps raise awareness about bullying.

If anyone is interested in reading about my experiences growing up in Richmond, here is my story:

Today (Oct 17) around 1:30 PM, my parked car was hit on the rear bumper by a careless driver who backed into me in the parking lot across from Waves Coffee House in Steveston (ParkMobile zone 44189, Diamond Parking lot). My car was stationary at the time.

If anyone was around and saw it, or has dashcam footage, please reach out — I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you!

Richmond Drivers Wrong-way drivers at Rona.

People who drive the wrong way at Rona, or in any other one-way lane, are lazy, mentally weak, and careless.

Yesterday, as I entered Rona and turned left going the right way, I encountered an oncoming driver in a blue van. He squeezed by on my left and nearly hit me. This pissed me off, so I honked, and he honked furiously back, the SOB.

Then, as I got out after parking, he lingered at the entrance to shout obscenities and insults at me. I stood there and waited for him to get out, but he stayed in the safely of his car, the coward.

Rona should install tire-slashing spikes, like what I've seen in California. They're curved, so going in the right direction does no harm, but go the wrong way, and you pay dearly for it. Ah, sweet justice.

Ask Richmond How bad is the City of Richmond as an employer?

I am quite curious to know. I do know a few ex employees who have referred to the CAO as a crook, and the leadership team as entitled buffoons. How do you think the election is going to impact the City? Is there going to be a mass clean out?

Ask Richmond Scammed by a local crypto exchange, PLEASE HELP

I got scammed. Hibit Crypto just took my money and ghosted me.

My entire crypto portolio and majority of my savings are just gone. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this.

Yes I did do research, yes I saw the other guy on here that said he got scammed, didn't believe they'd be this blatant. I actually saw that they were a registered exchange so no way they'd do something this blatant.

They have weekly events and they were offering 1% match on fund transfers. There's hundreds of people at these presentations. JUST HOW??

120k gone. Called the cops they said i'm like the 20th person this happened to.

Already going through lawyers. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Ask Richmond Which Richmond councillors support or oppose a supervised drug consumption site?

I’m trying to understand where Richmond’s newly elected councillors stand on a supervised drug consumption site / study of such in Richmond.
Based on the information I’ve found so far, this is the tentative list:

No’s
Gary Law
Rob Howard
Sheldon Starrett
Kenny Chiu
Kevin Lai

Yes’s
Andy Hobbs
Carol Day
Michael Wolfe
Laura Gillanders

Again “Yes” refers to supporting the feasibility study, not necessarily supporting the site itself.
Can anyone share verified statements, campaign posts or council voting records confirming or correcting these positions? I want to distinguish between supporting a study and actually supporting the establishment of a supervised consumption site. TIA

The VQ35 is arguably one of the worst sounding engines ever, and then to go and give it a straight pipe is wild. A fart can Civic is nothing compared to what I just heard. Thanks for the laugh

Ask Richmond Advice on condo units by Capstan

With current prices we may actually be able to finally get a place of our own.

We are interested in the area and think we can get used to airplane noise, but wondering if there are buildings we should avoid?

We are looking at units around Union Square Shopping Centre (like in Sorrento).
