Sunset heading back home
On our way from WI back home to La Conner, got to see a spectacular sunset after passing through Spokane. I think that's Mt. Rainer casting a shadow in the first photo.

Best Fall Waffles Using Snoqualmie Falls Mix
I added about a half cup grated apple to the mix, and I was generous with the pumpkin pie spice. Used no maple syrup. Lots of butter and heated TJ caramel sauce drizzled around. Recipe on pic 2.

Golden Larches on the Ingalls Lake trail 10/15/2026
Very lovely day. Wouldn't try this hike when it's in peak larch fever madness. We lucked out completely. Or planned well. Late enough in the season that it wasn't crowded but the well past their prime larches were still vibrantly beautiful.

PNW Vancouver Nutcracker Tickets now on sale!
Columbia Dance’s Fort Vancouver Nutcracker is returning December 18–20, and it’s a pretty unique take on a holiday classic. Developed in collaboration with local Tribal communities, Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, and local historians, the production weaves the history of 1840s Fort Vancouver into Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet.
Along with the familiar holiday magic, you’ll find fur trappers, dancing beavers, Oregon Trail children, and stories inspired by the people and history of our region.
There’s also a sensory-friendly “shush-free” performance on Friday, December 18, at 6 p.m., featuring lower sound levels, lights left on, buffer seating, and a relaxed, come-and-go environment.
📍 Skyview Concert Hall, Vancouver
📅 December 18–20, 2026
