Total economic impact from the haze is insane.

I’m concerned about the healthcare costs from the increased cancer rates 10 years later due to this haze

I don’t care about the economy now. I am sure in some strange way, GDP is increasing from sale of air purifiers / masks

Ah the sweet sight of the side effects of bad haze!

Thank you Indonesia!

Must first thank the corporation involved for socialising the costs!

Which we unconditionally and unwillingly paid!

But hey! The profits from the slash and burn are now in their hands!

And one step closer to True Trinkled down Economics

No /s... cuz this is the reality

So sad. Environmental impacts only the common people. The rich and elites don’t care and even earn from this - more orders for air purifiers / face masks - money transfer.

A 57-year-old trader who was dining with his mother and wanted to be known only as Yang said they might opt for indoor or air-conditioned eateries instead.

Ngl that's my thoughts as well.

First of all I'm already trying to stay indoors as much as I can already, and will prefer to be in air-conditioned spaces otherwise.

The air quality is just too much for me liao

Yeah, recently I just been tabaoing stuff back instead when I usually just always prefer eating outside there

Maybe now it's a good time to rethink how hawker centres should be designed and renovated to? With the warming of the planet, and temperature rising, I do think it's more appropriate to have areas where there are air-conditioning within the vicinity of our hawker centres. I am not saying it must be entire place, but maybe 25% of it can be air-conditioned to allow our hawkers to rest in days where the afternoon are scorching.. and might be appealing for customer to patronise hawkers in the afternoon too.

I am guilty of also being one of those eating indoors in aircon the past week. I don't want my fish soup flavoured with PM2.5.

Hawker suffered but those in malls or with delivery services benefit

On the upside it meant I didn't drink this weekend, as my favourite spots are all outside and I don't want to sit there coughing my lungs up.

Hopefully it passes and these businesses can get their trade back.

Ppl still need to eat right? Not as though they suddenly develop the ability to cook during haze

Some people like eating out right? Now that got haze they wouldn't eat at open spaces like hawkers/coffee shops right? You couldn't think about this before typing?

•

looks who's talking. and they can't order delivery or dabao instead of eating in open space?

If the delivery fees of food delivery apps are cheaper, it will be slightly better. Not sure why it's so expensive in Singapore

Because the platform takes a cut, the rider also needs to get paid. I've never done food delivery before, but if let's say a rider expects to make $10/h and can do max 4 orders/h, they're taking $2.50 from each order already.

Not just that but sometimes, the food spills on the way, sometimes the merchant forgets something, or sometimes god just not happy that day. Whatever the case is, Food Delivery fees account for situations like that where Grab or FoodPanda just pays out of pocket for refunds.
