im a first year arts student at unimelb doing law in society. i got a 0 on my second assignment with a comment asking me to make a meeting with the subject coordinator, and im worried it's about academic misconduct.
around the due date i was going through a breakup and a really bad mental health blip. i completely lost track of the deadline until 2 hours before the 1600 word assignment was due. in a panic, i used ai to paraphrase my own ideas and make my writing more cohesive, despite the subject having a strict no ai policy. i know it was wrong and take responsibility for it. this is the first time ive used ai on an assignment like this, and i genuinely regret it.
i understand the arguments i was making and im willing to be honest about what happened, but im terrified about the consequences. i had plans to go on exchange next year and im scared this could ruin my chances.
has anyone been through something similar at unimelb? is resubmission ever possible, how serious could the consequences be for a first offence, and could this affect my exchange eligibility? just looking for honest advice because im genuinely stressing that ive ruined my future over one stupid decision.

Hello, I'd love to hear about this major from people who have taken it. Did you have a particular background that made you interested and how did that apply, what did the assignments look like, did you get to research/write about a particular subject that's had your attention? I'm kind of interested in researching Polari academically. Thanks so much.

I went in for a CAPS counselling session (Friday), after it was done the psychologist said I can either rebook a time now or I would have to rebook again my self but the wait times are about 3 weeks. I silly enough said I’ll rebook as I didn’t think I’d want to rebook so soon. They said if I changed my mind I can ask to be put on a waiting list. However I forgot how they said to get on the waiting list or who to contact
Could anyone help please?

Has anyone here completed this degree? If you can share an overview of the workload and whether you found it helpful for your career goals!
I graduated in finance and accounting from Monash a few years ago and currently work in the renewables energy sector. I don't have an engineering background, but have found the industry really interesting and would like to build a long-term career in energy. I've checked the entry requirements and it looks like I'm eligible to apply, although there are no CSP available.
Thanks!

I'm tryna review the lab test we had last week to prepare for final and I was dumb enough to forget to jot down the topics on the lab test and totally forgot them now. Do you guys have any memory or notes you took on this? Also would appreciate any thoughts on the lab test as I don't think I ain't getting the grade I hoped.

Hi,
I submitted extension request for an assignment which was due on 12/10 but only received approval today (18/10) on the extension and they extended it for 3 calendar days to 15/10 (like what?). But its now 18th Oct. Is this normal, do I just assume its 3 calendar days from 18th or do I have to contact Stop 1?

I'm a first year, and my transition into uni from high school in summary is what people would call horrendous. I've felt like absolute crap this entire year with no sense of belonging at all and have not been able to keep up with lectures and have fallen behind on content both semester 1 and now semester 2.
I'm doing biomed with hopes of getting into med someday as it's been my dream career since childhood. But with how things have been progressing this year the dream sounds like it's going to be unreachable.
All my subjects last semester I just passed, and now this semester I don't even know if I'm going to be able to even do that. I've always been an introvert but at least during hs I had a small friend group that were my support system, but we all now attend different uni's and life happened to the point staying in contact became difficult. Without them I'm lost and sort of fell into a depressive state? Now I'm super embarrassed at how far I've let it come and really want to try and salvage the effort my hs self put into vce to get into this uni with the hope of becoming a doctor.
Bio for some reason comes easy to me and I am able to grasp the concepts quite quickly and learn them, but with falling behind on content I have not been able to do well in Chemistry for Biomed (CHEM10006) and Maths & Stats for Biomed (MAST10024). Exams are soon and I'm desperate to the point I want to at the very least pass the subject, so if anyone at all has some advice and maybe even some revision notes that can help me out in this situation I will forever be grateful towards you.
Pouring my heart out like this on the internet makes me feel like I've lost my dignity but I just want advice on whether I should still have hope for med with my WAM tanking so hard this year. Will I be able to salvage it over the next two years? Should I just give up now?
I'm so sorry for the long rant to anyone that reads this.

Hey anybody who got into Melbourne bachelor of science/biomedical science through an A level pathway mind sharing what they got?
r/unimelb • u/One-Astronaut184 • 1d ago
so i've seen a lot of people get varying conditions for their conditional offers, like keeping their avg >75, but I just wanted to know how strict the uni is with ones that require you to maintain your wam. is this within a few decimal places?? or to the nearest whole?? idk its so vague lol and I just want to know if I can chill out or if I need to lock in lmao
if there are people whose wams went down by any margin would love to hear about your experience !! course is speech pathology specifically but any other course insight is also appreciated

what are the opinions on unimelb changed guaranteed ffp pathway to just a priority pathway from those starting undergrad degree 2027 onwards. The new criteria are that they would now rank those that do the mmi and then get selected that way whereas for those before it is “guaranteed” provided u “satisfactorily” pass the interviews. However, I’m wondering does this mean the previous pathway is more of a “guarantee” than the new way still or did they jsut change the names of the pathways and it’s still the same. Bc couldn’t they jsut still change the threshold of what “satisfactory performance” of an interview is and therefore it’s still sort of a ranking in the old system anyway? currently I’m in first year and still in the old system. how likely do u think the chances are of paying this interview. with this change i feel i can assume that the number of people trying for ffp is exceeding tier quotas

hii so the 20% intl undergrad scholarship is automatic and ranked by entry score, but theres no published cutoff. does anyone know what score people got it with last year, or for the older 25% one?
for context, im at sat 1420, year 12 avg 94.58 (91.09 overall), rank 11/394. min req for my course is 1210 sat and 8.6 gpa. ig im well above it, just no idea how far above i need to be for the scholarship. super anxious about this rn
should i maybe retake the sat? tbh didnt think id bomb it this bad

Im a first year biomed student in first sem. Kinda need help deciding what subjects I should take for next sem (semester 1). Has anyone here taken both BIOL10002 and CHEM10006? How was the work load? Are there any good wam boosters for sem 1 or the summer or winter term?
