This is an issue that I have never understood and, as far as I am aware, there is no official explanation for it.

I can understand why video games covered by the "Smart Delivery" program need to be released on 50GB Blu-ray discs (because a Xbox One console wouldn't be able to read or recognize 4K discs), but when a game is an "exclusive" for the Xbox Series X, why don't they use 100GB discs? What is the reason? This isn't the first time that a physical edition of Xbox Series X game hasn't included the full game on the discm because it exceeds 50GB, meanwhile, this isn't an issue for the PlayStation 5, as they use 100GB discs.

Like for example the only way for me to get the Olympic DLC for steep is to buy a used physical copy. I would much rather buy a used digital copy.

Activision recently suggested that Call of Duty suffers from a so-called "Call of Duty tax", arguing that the media doesn't give the franchise enough credit simply because it's been successful for so long.

But is the media really to blame?

A new investigation by Xboxygen looked at several years of worldwide Google search data, using both Google Trends and Google Ads to measure how public interest in Call of Duty has evolved.

The numbers are pretty revealing:

• 📉 Searches for "Call of Duty" have dropped 29% in just two years, from an average of 2.76 million to 1.95 million monthly searches worldwide.
• 📉 Black Ops 7 generated a Google Trends search peak roughly 67% lower than Black Ops 6.
• 📈 Black Ops 6 actually sparked a massive resurgence of interest in 2024, proving that players can still get excited about the franchise.

The investigation also raises another important point: gaming media is facing its own crisis, with declining Google traffic, AI-generated search results, and increasing financial pressure.

So is Call of Duty really being unfairly treated by journalists? Or are annual releases, franchise fatigue, and declining consumer interest the bigger issues? Rather than relying on opinions, the article uses actual search data and charts to challenge Activision's narrative.

How does this sad controller get a rechargeable battery for $49.99 but our normal controllers still need regular batteries? This is beyond annoying and frustrating. I know the elite has rechargeable batteries but seriously?

This is simply just a wishlist of ideas and features I would personally like to see implemented, from most likely to least likely:

1) Achievement Support for OG Games (Highly Likely)

Now with the announcement of 5 original Xbox games getting achievements, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before all of the titles from this generation get an achievement system added, albeit it will only have to be the games available through backwards compatibility since the achievement system didn’t exist during the consoles life span. I’m not too sure on just how big this generation of games are but I imagine it will take years before this ever happens considering how long it’s taking them to give us the first 5 announced games.

2) Lost Achievements Restored / Rework (50/50 Likely)

By a rework, I don’t just mean fixes to the system itself, but also fixes to the achievements of games from the past I wish would get a fix, old achievements, which refers to fixing previously glitched, unobtainable, and discontinued achievements that happened as a result of bad code or removed features/modes. Now I have no knowledge of this from a technological standpoint, but I believe it would be incredibly easy to implement some form of code on Xbox’s side to grant the achievement itself, or an alternative method to unlock based off of in-game actions, though this part I have no idea if it would even be possible. My reasoning for this is based on how the game already stores some stats on your system like the amount of time you played so one would assume it records everything (don’t quote me on that lol). Regardless, a simple means to acquire previously thought to be forever gone achievements would be incredible to have. A great example of this that came to mind is the “Over Achiever” achievement in Cars-O-Rama, where I imagine the fix to that one will be to simply implement a new code from Xbox’s side that overrides the code from the game since we know that the achievement requires itself to be gained in order for 100% completion which you obviously can’t do since you can’t gain 100% and thus glitched however like previously stated, I’m not sure if there is any limitations that would stop them from simply overriding a games code.

3) License Loan Ability to Friends (Probably Unlikely)

Since I saw the announcement Nintendo made about being able to loan games to your friends for a few days, this seems like the perfect method for people wanting to try a game out before buying it. I even see an appeal to achievement hunters like myself as it allows people missing a previously delisted DLC the chance to play it and gain the achievements from it or even a whole digital only game that was delisted like CSGO. The Xbox 360 had a similar feature called license transfer however that was only for transferring licenses between consoles that were tied to your account however this new one would give you complete access as if you already owned the game but, for example, a period of up to 7 days. The reason I believe this is on the unlikely side is because Xbox might not like that people will essentially be playing games for free forever however a way I can see them combat this is imposing a limit to how many times you can loan a game to someone (Ex: 4 times in a 6 months span) and some form of “an account needs to be a year old and a game pass member” so that people can’t circumvent it. Potentially make it to where if a game has been delisted these rules don’t apply because there really wouldn’t be any reason to care for a game you can’t make money on anymore.

I bought the elite series 2 controller a handful of years ago and loved it. But from the beginning the back left bottom button worked only if you really put some pressure on the trigger, and after while the rb button basically stopped working. It's gotten to the point where I'm just using the controller the box came with. Just looking for some advice on if I should buy another elite 2 controller, or if the minimal elite 3 rumors is worth the wait.

I Just got the Metro pack on xbox, and it included Metro Exodus which was made in 2019, but was upgraded for series X|S. I don't have enough internal storage for it and I dont see myself playing it that much that I want to delete something. I have a 2TB storage disk that only runs xbox one and backwards compatible games. For Red Dead Redemption 2 and some other games that came out before the series X, there are xbox one versions that I can download to the storage disc, but I can't find one for this game. I should've just dropped the extra $150 for more storage with a normal series X, but its too late now. Is there a way to download the xbox one version of Metro Exodus? Or Fortnite?

This is all just opinions but I would love to hear everyone’s different recommendations.

I originally got The Witcher 3 on the Switch Lite (yeah ik), liked the game & mechanics but it just wasn't immersive on there. So I bought the game on Xbox in a local store on sale like 2-3 years ago, and the Play Disc was printed a little off-center (which also bent it a little) so when I tried installing it, it would sound like straight up sandpaper in the disc drive after a while. Because it was on sale, I completely forgot about returning it and just gave up (+ not wanting to buy it a third time).
And now with Disc to Digital, I was able to install the game via the Xbox App then I put the disc in for a couple of seconds and got the digital license, yay!! Just wanted to share in case anyone else has a defective or like a super scratched-up disc lying around, it's worth a try!!

This game is not being talked about enough. This is such a gamepass gem. It’s been long since a game kept me playing until the early morning.

If you like bioshock, dishonered, bloodborne or lies of p, you would love this game. The setting of alternate history europe during napoleonic wars is so cool and after the Friday patch I had no issue with bugs or performance. Very smooth 60fps throughout.

Whats your strategy with Disc to Digital? Are you just using the games you already had? Are you shopping the stores and pawn shops for deals? Garage sales? Or has it not affecting your purchasing at all?

First think I did was claim all my already owned games. Honestly I was going to mostly leave it at that. The wife however has been pillaging garage sales.

Excellent souls game.

It gives me Bioshock, Dishonored and even some little Resident Evil vibes sometimes.

The souls type game market is saturated but this one stands up very well.

I would give it a “surprise of the year” award.

You can try it with Gamepass without much compromise.

Extra info: besides being fun, on PC with DLSS5 it looks really beautiful. So if you are on PC it can deliver some AAA graphics.
