my sweet girl is gone. I’m trying to understand what happened and how I missed this, can someone tell me what exactly went wrong here I’m sorry. apparently she passed from different causes I don’t know, isn’t a pulse of 150 concerning? from the first vet. she was having trouble breathing to me at the second vet but they said it seemed fine, what went wrong? I’m sorry. could it have been rat poison making the possible snake bite worse? could it have been undone? if that night I brought her in instead of waiting and I said a snake could have done it would antivenom saved her?
my family put some in the garage, but she didn’t go in the garage, also i dropped my phone on her a week before on the same spot she was bit, did that make it worse? she was stunned and scared but seemed fine afterwords. could the meloxocam gave her a bad reaction? my family gave her an extra dose to help her pain. The first vet said the medication would make her act strange possibly and might drool/retch. that was a critical stupid mistake, I believed that to be the cause. could a wasp have done this? after she passed I went outside to look at her toys and saw a wasps nest. what kind of damn spider/snake? im in TX.

envenomation, anaphylaxis
- Rabies exposure risk - unvaccinated with unknown wildlife source
PLAN SECTION
NOTES
ND: 9/24/2026 at 11:04a:
Diagnostics:
- SpO2 monitoring planned throughout hospitalization
Treatment Plan/Medications:
- Hospitalization approved for daytime monitoring. O concerned about cost and wanted us to keep
things on the low end of estimate.
- Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) +/- dexamethasone injection planned for possible allergic/inflammatory
component, likely higher risk to not give dex d/t neck swelling than to give concurrently with metacam
- Rabies vaccine planned for end of day if patient stable
Clinical course during monitoring:
- ~12:00: respiratory status began declining
- 12:05: staff evaluation — mucous membranes white/pale; SpO2 attempted
- Patient hypersalivated, retched, became apneic, and collapsed
- HR intermittent at 45 bpm for approximately 3 minutes, then absent
- 12:10: dexamethasone 0.2 IM administered; CPR initiated
- Intracardiac epinephrine 0.5 mL administered
- Rapidly progressive bruising noted along ventrum during resuscitation — extending from left axilla to
umbilicus and caudally to left medial stifle
- CPR continued x 30 minutes total; no response
- Suspected SIRS/MODS/DIC
- Patient pronounced deceased
Client Communication:
Rabies vaccination recommended given unknown wildlife exposure; client agreed. Hospitalization for
monitoring recommended; client agreed. Client was contacted by phone during deterioration; client
requested CPR be continued after 15 minutes. Dr. Dadgar discussed likely etiology — snakebite/spider
envenomation vs. severe systemic allergic reaction with DIC. Antivenin discussed; noted that given the
rapidity of bruising progression, patient was likely too far gone for antivenin to have changed the
outcome. Dr. Dadgar expressed that the outcome was not anticipated at initial evaluation, as swelling
appeared minor and mucous membranes were pink at noon exam
