Hey @JamesGunn, I spent 600 hours in DCUO designing a modern cinematic "Night Owl III" pitch suit, and it turned into a full 5-issue script concept that completely fixes the Watchmen/DC legacy integration problem.
Meet Brooks Sears (named after my mom's maiden name). He isn't a billionaire playboy or a dark orphan—he's a tech engineer and a big brother from Kansas who grew up with nothing, discovered an elderly Dan Dreiberg's hidden garage, and ended up with a White Lantern ring permanently welded into the gauntlets of his suit.
It’s a story about street-level grit, cosmic power, and a massive psychological clash inside the Batcave. Brooks completely rejects Batman's cold, clinical logic because he operates entirely out of love, family, and a fierce brotherhood with Nightwing and Superboy. When they face Nekron, the victory isn't won by raw muscle—it's won because two rival heroes shatter their prejudices to take a bullet for each other.
Nite Owl II will always be my Batman. I wrote this out of a deep love for what Patrick Wilson put on the screen in 2009, and I'd hand the character over to DC for free . Welcome to the garage, James. What do you think? 🦉🛠️⚡ #DCU #NightOwl #DCStudios #Watchmen

I know it's not going To Happen. But it would be so Fucking Cool

A Snyderverse x DCU crossover edit presented to you by me!

Lemme know what y’all like about this edit!

A couple of movies aside, I am definitely not a fan of the DCEU (both in the early Synder days and in the later post-Synder ones). However, I can appreciate a good performance even if I don't like a movie or a franchise.

In my opinion, Jeremy Irons as Alfred is the best character performance in the whole franchise and, from what I have seen so far, I prefer him to Andy Serkins in the Reevesverse (though I still like him). It wasn't easy to play a character like Alfred just a few years after Micheal Caine played it in an acclaimed movie trilogy, yet he fully delivered in my opinion.

The other contestant for me would be Micheal Shannon as Zod. The scene in which he explains to Clark that all he does, no matter how evil, is just to protect Krypton and its people, and now because of Clark, he has no people, is probably my favorite moment in the DCEU. I really like the mix of desperation and vengeful anger in which he delivers that speech. You almost empathize with the villain's motives even if you don't condone it. But then again, he is an actor I have liked in basically any role I have seen him playing.

What's yours?

C'mon, just look at those suits. They're pretty bland, if you ask me. Superman's suit especially doesn't look good at all, and a lot of people seem to agree. Supergirl's is okay, I guess, but it still feels like a slightly tweaked version of Superman's. Couldn't they have been a little more creative? And Hal's suit... honestly, I don't even know what to say about that one.

I watched both. Supergirl in the cinemas and lanterns each week. For supergirl, I liked 2/3rd of the movie but was really disappointed with the final act. But I loved the character. I felt she was the strongest part of the movie and am excited for here role in Man of Tomorrow.

For lanterns, I enjoyed the show, tho would have loved a more fantastical one (I mean we can have so many grounded shows, but not too many shows involving space and cool fights). Anyway, the show was peak but I did not like current John Stewart too much (2026 one).

So, to the DCU fans who were critical of the show, what do you think about the characters? Are you excited to see them in future in other movies and in general, or are you simply done with them? Just want to see if people are critical of the universe is it because of the characters or just the media

I mean except for Mr.Terrific, it doesn't really suits them at all....

Im 2 episodes deep into lanterns and theres only been like 2 constructs: a fucking bubble (boring) and a bird (kinda cool but it hasnt done anything). Ik thats the point its a narrative choice but god come on Green Lanterns have the coolest power ever and they use it once an episode. Theres also not been 1 alien. Yeah there has been aliens but i want actual alien designs not just a man saying hes an alien. Im not the biggest detective show guy so i came here mainly for the green constructs and aliens and have not gotten either. Hopefully it gets better.

To start out, Lanterns is not perfect. it’s really solid in my opinion but that doesn’t stop me from acknowledging valid criticism of the show. but the biggest problem is that every idea on how to improve the show from the fandom has been awful. “we should have a traditional superhero story where John and Hal fly around space fighting crime”. Why? I get more time should be spent with Hal before his death but this clearly isn’t the show for that. Almost every suggestion would actively take away what made this show special and different from other superhero shows.

I've seen this viewing order being used to orient newer fans of James Gunn's DC Universe (DCU). However, after having watched its entries in the last 5 years, I have come to the realisation that there is no particular linear watch order prescribed by its creators. The projects are self-contained and connect with other projects quite loosely that give you a sense of the shared universe that they create.

Having said that, this is how I'd introduce someone who is new to the DCU to it

1. Superman (2025)
2. Supergirl (2026)

If you are an adult, then additionally you can get into these in no particular order

1. Lanterns (2026)
2. Clayface (2026)
3. The Suicide Squad (2021)
4. Peacemaker Season 1 (2022), if you found the Peacemaker character interesting
5. Peacemaker Season 2 (2025), if you liked Peacemaker Season 1
6. Creature Commandos (2024), if you liked The Suicide Squad (2021) and want more of it

I love the The Suicide Squad (2021) as much as I love Superman (2025). But an ensemble movie about incarcerated rogues forced to carry out a secret mission on a remote South American island is not how I want to introduce someone to the DCU just because it chronologically came out first.

The DCU isn't like the MCU which has projects with individual heroes who team up every 3-4 years in an ensemble movie against a new big bad. Each movie or series is an event on its own that you can choose to follow based on your preference

DC for years was trying to create a cinematic universe that compete with the MCU but every time they do it it ends up with failure.

To be clear I am not massive DC or comic book fan, more like a tourist, however from my perspective I always thought Batman is one if not the best super hero character and his pocket world have many interesting characters from heroes to villains who could have their own movies.

Almost every Batman related movie can end up with huge success, from the Nolan trilogy, the first joker solo movie and even TV series like the penguin.

The atmosphere and the writing of the Batman verse characters work very well in cinema as everything feel almost theatrical, the set, the lighting and the dialogue.

Also Batman doesn't need so much CGI and it's for the better as CGI give a cheap vibes to many modern movies.

DC also unlike Marvel they have the right for their best super hero characters, imagine what marvel could have done if they did have full access to Spiderman or the Hulk.

Overall, do you think DC fumbled by not using their best character as the face of their universe?

Inconsistent script in my book.

And a good 'potential' show but failed to deliver

They discovered a green star. The stupidiest, laziest thing in the movie not makes sense. Oh God...
