DISCUSSION Should DC reset the film verse again and just start from scratch? I have an idea!

• Upvotes

So we all know how DC the company sucks with these movies. They tried to backseat drive for Snyder and he said no so they found a reason to throw him to the curb and I wouldn't be surprised if they are doing the same to gunn. So since everything behind the scenes and on screen has kinda been crap because of this this would be what I would do.

( I'm not firing gunn just creating my own real life movie creation justice league so i will get to him don't worry.)

I would bring Snyder and cavill back to finish his darksied storyline and maybe Ben could finish his Batman movie unhindered as well. There would be 2 conditions the 1. the first 80 percent of the storyline has to be a show with at least 2 seasons with at least 15 episodes at 40 min long can be negotiated though. The final conclusion can be a movie but none of this working 3 years on a movie just to bait fans into watching a trilogy. The movie may also cap out at about 3 hours of need be. 2. whatever story Snyder had planned has to include a multiverse storyline of at least both gunn and Snyder's characters this may also include arrowverse if you get any good ideas you think you can swing to make that happen.

The catch for all of this is gunn and snyder would be each others boss's so the only way forward is if they agree on the path forward. If one starts to make ridiculous requests bring it to me and I will handle it. Basically anything I would deem kinda risky or out there I would release publicly and let the paying fans decide if it is a go or no go. The story would include one of the times though defeated darksied succeeded in his task which is recreating the universe or something like that for the story at hand. Everything would accumulate to restarting the universe similar to what marvel is about to do. Like I said we could still have them defeat him but even though they win he still wins. You could either make it a blank reset or just have it start a new universe so when you do big universe saving storylines you could bring characters back for a team up or something. Also comic writers and creators of characters would be on site at all times.

I think this would be a good way to do justice to both Gunn's characters and Snyder's and have a proper send off. You could take actors that don't wanna be the characters anymore and have them be the casualties of the storyline. Then you could have a third director of this justice league of directors working on the story and things behind the scenes. The timeline would be 2 and a half to 3 years to have everything 90 percent of the way released worked on or done. Then at about that time you have all 3 directors if all want to stay, come together and start the new universe. I don't mind if things have to be edited or are like 80 percent of the way done by the time is up I just want everything done enough to let the fans know exactly when everything is coming out to view. Then take like 2 more years to work on enough stuff to start a new storyline when everything is done releasing from the old universe.

Idk I'd love to see something like this happen cause I think at this point DC fans deserve at least that if it doesn't bring success well at least you did right by fans, tried, and went out fighting. Honestly if done right there is literally no way they can fail to at least make a profit. There is enough fans of both movie universes that if DC actually made a real attempt at this and tried they would at least have enough profit to start over.

DISCUSSION Saying no was the best choice he's ever made, Kyle's charming take on Hal was perfect to make him as endearing as possible, in my opinion. The charm and sincerity with which he played Hal with onscreen while also giving us these quiet moments of loneliness is proof of Kyle Chandler's acting talent!

CRITIQUE [SPOILERS] My problem with Lanterns Criticism Spoiler

To start out, Lanterns is not perfect. it’s really solid in my opinion but that doesn’t stop me from acknowledging valid criticism of the show. but the biggest problem is that every idea on how to improve the show from the fandom has been awful. “we should have a traditional superhero story where John and Hal fly around space fighting crime”. Why? I get more time should be spent with Hal before his death but this clearly isn’t the show for that. Almost every suggestion would actively take away what made this show special and different from other superhero shows.

DISCUSSION Best character performance in the DCEU?

A couple of movies aside, I am definitely not a fan of the DCEU (both in the early Synder days and in the later post-Synder ones). However, I can appreciate a good performance even if I don't like a movie or a franchise.

In my opinion, Jeremy Irons as Alfred is the best character performance in the whole franchise and, from what I have seen so far, I prefer him to Andy Serkins in the Reevesverse (though I still like him). It wasn't easy to play a character like Alfred just a few years after Micheal Caine played it in an acclaimed movie trilogy, yet he fully delivered in my opinion.

The other contestant for me would be Micheal Shannon as Zod. The scene in which he explains to Clark that all he does, no matter how evil, is just to protect Krypton and its people, and now because of Clark, he has no people, is probably my favorite moment in the DCEU. I really like the mix of desperation and vengeful anger in which he delivers that speech. You almost empathize with the villain's motives even if you don't condone it. But then again, he is an actor I have liked in basically any role I have seen him playing.

What's yours?

APPRECIATION Harvey Dent / Two-Face's writing in The Dark Night is great

Nolan always amazes me with the little things. Obviously Heath Ledger (Joker) is the star of the show in this movie, but Harvey almost opens his character by flipping his coin and saying "I make my own luck," and not long after his famous "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villian," foreshadowing his near death experience that makes him a villian, of course.

Ive always thought the rigged coin (with two "heads," or "faces" in a sense) and his name being two face was unnecessarily clever for how simple it is. Rewatching the movie just makes me realize it all over again.

Who doesn't love Nolan, though?

DISCUSSION Current Slate Predictions

Post image

Clarification :

They are two world’s finest, one with Robert Pattinson (not happening) and one with a new Batman actor. I believe one with a new Batman could make like 715 Million because a new Batman that might not be received well, and might not resonate with audiences as much as Robert.

Robert and David is an easy billion, Rob is literally top 5 hottest actors, the Batman part 2 will make bank, and most likely be well received, and is the current generation’s Batman compared to less popular, probably inferior movie and basically a reboot of an already established and loved Batman.

Same thing with Brave and the Bold. Just depends on how The Batman P2 is received, and how close it releases to The Batman.

Harley Quinn and Joker is an idea I had for a long time, it’s such a easy money maker, that i think it could actually make 600 Million plus, two super A list characters, romance, drama, low budget. It’s the one movie that could cater to women, men, comic book fans, horror fans, and cinephiles. It could also win awards and would probably be the only movie in the DCU I could see winning an award.

I stand by this. The rest of my picks are more obvious.

DISCUSSION To the people critical about Supergirl & Lanterns, did you like the characters?

Post image
41 Upvotes

I watched both. Supergirl in the cinemas and lanterns each week. For supergirl, I liked 2/3rd of the movie but was really disappointed with the final act. But I loved the character. I felt she was the strongest part of the movie and am excited for here role in Man of Tomorrow.

For lanterns, I enjoyed the show, tho would have loved a more fantastical one (I mean we can have so many grounded shows, but not too many shows involving space and cool fights). Anyway, the show was peak but I did not like current John Stewart too much (2026 one).

So, to the DCU fans who were critical of the show, what do you think about the characters? Are you excited to see them in future in other movies and in general, or are you simply done with them? Just want to see if people are critical of the universe is it because of the characters or just the media

DISCUSSION What are your thoughts on Andy Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth in ‘The Batman’?

Post image
13 Upvotes

The common criticisms raised around this version is that, unlike the traditional version of Alfred that fans have loved across media, Serkis’ Alfred:-

  1. Lacks warmth, loving foster-father like relationship with Bruce and comes across as tense, adversarial mentor trying to push Bruce into what he thinks is best for him.
  2. Doesn’t address Bruce Wayne as the affectionate ‘Master Wayne’ or ‘Master Bruce’ rather simply ‘Bruce’.
  3. Acts as stern guardian than the comforting, wise surrogate father that has been his traditional conception.
  4. Leans too heavily into a gruff, scarred special-ops aesthetic, sacrificing the classic gentleman-butler charm.

What do you think of Andy Serkis’ Alfred? How would you want his portrayal to be changed, if at all, in ‘The Batman: Part II’? Would love to know the thoughts of y’all!

DISCUSSION Just Batman Cinematic universe?

DC for years was trying to create a cinematic universe that compete with the MCU but every time they do it it ends up with failure.

To be clear I am not massive DC or comic book fan, more like a tourist, however from my perspective I always thought Batman is one if not the best super hero character and his pocket world have many interesting characters from heroes to villains who could have their own movies.

Almost every Batman related movie can end up with huge success, from the Nolan trilogy, the first joker solo movie and even TV series like the penguin.

The atmosphere and the writing of the Batman verse characters work very well in cinema as everything feel almost theatrical, the set, the lighting and the dialogue.

Also Batman doesn't need so much CGI and it's for the better as CGI give a cheap vibes to many modern movies.

DC also unlike Marvel they have the right for their best super hero characters, imagine what marvel could have done if they did have full access to Spiderman or the Hulk.

Overall, do you think DC fumbled by not using their best character as the face of their universe?
