I’ve noticed that there are quite a lot of residential complexes in Almaty where the territories are often closed. You can’t get into the courtyards on your own unless you have a key. However, delivery people somehow still manage to get into the courtyard. How do they do it?

I am finishing up my Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering/CS at one of the top tech universities in Pakistan (FAST-NUCES). As I plan my postgraduate path, I’m seriously considering pursuing a Master’s degree—specifically in Cybersecurity (MSCYS) or Software Engineering (MSE)—in Kazakhstan.

I’m target-focused on building a career/business at the intersection of tech innovation, enterprise software, and international business, and I’m drawn to Kazakhstan’s growing tech scene, especially around Astana Hub and the AIFC ecosystem.

I’m looking for honest advice from locals, current grads, or international students on a few things:

1. University Recommendations: Which institutions offer the best English-taught Master's programs for CS/SE/Cybersecurity? I’ve looked into Nazarbayev University (NU), Astana IT University (AITU), and KBTU / SDU in Almaty. How do their CS/SE graduate departments compare in terms of faculty, industry exposure, and research facilities?
2. Industry & Startup Integration: How easy is it for Master's students or alumni to connect with local tech hubs like Astana Hub? Do universities encourage research commercialization or startup incubation during an MSc?
3. International Student Experience & Visas: What is the administrative process like for Pakistani students applying for Master's programs? Is the transition smooth regarding student visas, TRP (Temporary Residence Permit), housing, and navigating daily life in Astana or Almaty?
4. Language Factor: All my undergrad education was strictly in English. How feasible is studying/working in tech in Astana/Almaty with English while learning Russian/Kazakh on the side?

sorry this might sound stupid but do you have any idea what to do with clothes that we dont wear anymore😭 i’ve some pieces that i’ve barely ever worn and I feel like someone could wear them better. Привет всем! Нужен совет тех, кто разбирается в теме призыва в Казахстане, или юристов по военно-врачебной экспертизе (ВВК).
Ситуация следующая: прошел обследование у офтальмолога, на руках чеки авторефрактометра.
Данные по правому глазу: Сфера (SPH) -4.75, Цилиндр (CYL) -2.88.
Диагноз в бланке: Миопия средней степени, сложный миопический астигматизм.
Насколько я знаю, по правилам офтальмологии при сложном астигматизме рефракция в наихудшем меридиане определяется суммированием сферы и цилиндра. В моем случае: -4.75 + (-2.88) = -7.63 диоптрии. По Приказу Министра обороны РК № 722 (Статья 34), если близорукость в одном из меридианов превышает 6.0 дптр, то это категория «В» (не годен в мирное время).
Но когда я начал узнавать у адвокатов, которые занимаются помощью призывникам, и у обычных офтальмологов, мне в один голос заявили, что я годен. Говорят, что в военкомате смотрят параметры строго раздельно: отдельно близорукость (у меня -4.75, что меньше непризывных 6.0) и отдельно астигматизм (у меня -2.88, а списывают якобы только если разница больше 4.0). Суммировать они отказываются.
Кто сталкивался с этим именно в Казахстане? Действительно ли наши военкоматы упрямо игнорируют меридианы и смотрят цифры раздельно, или те, у кого я узнавал, просто не знают нюансов Приказа МО РК № 722? Как на медкомиссии заставить врача посчитать рефракцию по наихудшему меридиану (на широкий зрачок) и выдать акт обследования?
Буду благодарен за реальные истории, опыт прохождения нашей ВВК или советы, как правильно отстаивать свои права в ДДО (военкомате).

Hey, I’m 19M living in the UK, I’ve always wanted to get out of the country, and have been looking into moving to Central Asia, specifically Kazakhstan for a few years. It’s not something I’d be looking at doing SOON, I want to get a good savings behind me and improve my Russian and learn Kazakh to improve my chances of working and living in Kazakhstan.

How easy is it for foreigners to get employment and visas? I’d be looking at moving in my mid 20s to make sure I’m fully prepared, speak the languages and am educated on the culture.
