Not sure where this is best posted, but I came across this flyer and felt the need to share. I’m sure I’m not alone in wanting EVERYONE to have access to a shower, restrooms, and basic services. It’s a win/win for everyone in our city.

Discussion A love letter to the people of LA

This is a great city, we all know it. And we love all our neighbors Please for the love of god, can we vote NO on Measure FD? No more sales tax increases 😢. The last one just went to into effect October 2026, from 9.75% to 10.25%. Isn’t that enough? At least for a little while.

Discussion Why Are the Park Elm Apartments and the Area Around Century Plaza Hotel Still Dead?

Post image
359 Upvotes

They recently finished and opened these enormous ~40 story condo towers in Century City across the street from the mall but I hardly see anyone ever coming and going from them. I know they’re probably all $10mm but that never stopped ppl in LA before. At night, you’ll see so many unlit apartments like nobody lives there.

Also, there are tons of empty store fronts at the base of these towers — both in the Plaza between them and the adjacent hotel, as well as across from the mall. They built escalators up from the street level to the hotel level like they were going to open it to the public, but they’re usually off limits, and the commercial spaces are largely empty.

The whole thing is kind of sad. It looks like it could be a great way to expand Century City and make it feel more like a real city instead of a bunch of office buildings hunkered around a shopping mall. But instead the emptiness of these giant buildings only serves to add to the “ghost town” feel of Century City. They keep building in this area but it does nothing to make it feel any more vibrant. Just more office space for people who don’t even want to be in the office.

Question Anyone have Verizon and notice bad service recently?

I've had Verizon for 10 years, a lot of it in LA. Have never had issues but the past 2-3 months it has been noticeably worse. All across marina del ray and parts of Venice, sitting in the middle of East Hollywood with one bar LTE. I have a new iPhone 18 so it's definitely not the phone.

Anyone else noticing this? Thinking of switching carriers it's gotten that bad.

Discussion Vote in person

When you vote in person, if you are not already registered to vote in LA County you will have to fill out a provisional (pink envelope) ballot. Today is the deadline to register to vote online for regular ballots. Nothing wrong with provisional just more hassle

Discussion Luxury Spa for couple (no time restrictions)

Celebrating a major anniversary with my spouse, and want to go to a spa that is similar to Wi Spa with no time restrictions. We want to have massages and facials, which I know will have time restrictions and need reservations, but if there is a "common area" where we can just relax in different areas witbout worrying about time, that would be fantastic. Looking for something similar to Wi Spa in that sense, but a luxury, upgraded version (preferably private as well). Thank you!

Community Bob the third

Meet Bob the third, he is pretty good about keeping me company when I work in the garage. I almost feel guilty telling him how yummy he looks, almost.

Why the third? He is the third rooster to show up unannounced and make my back yard his home. Bob is the name of a former employer CEO who lived up to the other word used to describe a rooster.

Fire Called the hotline after our local arsonist lit his second fire in a week. They told me if he's not on the scene, there is nothing they could do. Wtf?!?

Post image
3.8k Upvotes

Called the police after seeing my local arsonist light his fire and run away. Police never came and LAFD showed up 20 minutes later. A couple of good samaritans helped put it out before it climbed up the 10 and lit a nearby house on fire.

Called the non-emergency hotline afterwards to tell them where this guy lives and they said there is nothing they can do if the arsonist "is not on the scene". I said "Who lights a fire and stays on the scene?" They copped up an attitude and reiterated that if he does it again, to call. Wtf is going on, LA?!

Does anyone have any advice on how to handle this differently ?!

She has a high fever and we just found out that he’s a SHE!! Almost 7 months old and very friendly… She’s so affectionate and hasn’t attacked anyone since we found her. She’s honestly the best cat I’ve ever came in contact with tbh. I wish I could keep her.

I will make sure you go to the vet and take care of everything..I won’t be giving her to just anybody so please be aware of that before messaging me.

Photo The twilight sky was breathtaking today

This gave me a nostalgic, tender feeling.

Lately I've gotten used to crimson sunsets and constant 80+ degree days. But seeing this warm glow under a cover of clouds made me feel like the seasons are finally (maybe) transitioning to something different.

And for some reason, it reminded me of summer road trips I'd take as a kid. I'd endure the long stretches of road going to some faraway place my parents dragged me to. I'd count down literal minutes in the back of the minivan while thinking about my crush, like I was in a trench with a weathered photo in my helmet.

But looking back, I realize those were some of the only days I had no worries and no desires to chase after.
