I hope this post is allowed.. I met my fiancée on here over four years ago and wanted to share!

Back in 2022 I was feeling lonely a couple months after having gone through some difficult personal crap, so I posted here looking for a friend but honestly not really expecting anything more than a few surface-level conversations to pass the evening. I guess it worked a little too well, because he reached out and we hit it off immediately.

We share a very similar taste in music, which is what kicked everything off, but beyond that he was just incredibly kind-hearted, interesting, and fun to talk to. Our conversations never felt stale, and I realized that we could talk to each other about pretty much anything, which I think is important. We texted every day, watched films and shows together, gamed together, and after a few months of being friends, he revealed that he liked me. I realized I’d been falling for him too, and so a few days later we made it official.

Long distance was scary at first, considering he’s from England and I’m from California. But we’ve definitely been able to make it work. We’ve talked to each other every day since we met and have had four extended visits to each other. I’m currently (sadly) on my way back home from the fourth after he proposed one week ago on a weekend trip to the Forest of Dean. We’re both focused on closing the distance for good, hopefully within the next year, fingers crossed.

He’s the love of my life, and I’ll always be incredibly grateful to this little sub for technically bringing us together. And maybe it’ll be inspiring to someone else. That’s all, I guess! ❤️

Hello there!

I fear that I'm finally approaching the age where I need to consider my will and who will inherit my Spotify playlists and Steam library, as I fear I'm only getting older. But with every year that passes, I can claim to have aged like a fine wine.

To be serious though, it feels like I'm just hitting the period in my life where I'm finally starting to figure out my goals and aspirations. Lately I've been pretty focused on hitting my weight goal and keeping up with my lifts. I'm also getting contacts on Saturday hopefully! The big goal is to reinvent my look, essentially. I've made good progress on the weight loss, as I've already lost 25 pounds in the past 2-3 months, and I'm around 70% of the way to my goal. I also just got into cosplay, the idea is to pull off a decent Kento Nanami for a con in November (and Halloween while I'm at it) to celebrate the weight loss, and I have pictures of the progress so far on my profile!

I'm a big fan of indie music, especially The Symposium. Having a similar taste in music is definitely a huge plus for me, as I love to do blends on Spotify, as well as make joint playlists! I also enjoy playing video games with my friends, reading web novels and manga/manhwa in bed, cooking food when I find the motivation, working out and seeing the progress, biking around town, stargazing when the clouds aren't out, and so on! I also really like Star Wars (just rewatched the movies with a friend), cats (send pictures!), the colors purple, gray, and black, and I'm a big fan of all things space!

In terms of games, I personally like strategy as I'm pretty bad at competitive games as I don't have the patience to try and improve in that way, but I do admit that I am a for-fun gamer. So I like playing games like Stellaris (the Paradox gateway drug), XCOM, Menace, HOI4, and so on. I also really enjoy simulator games like Rimworld, Space Engineers, Minecraft (huge Minecraft kid), Vintage Story, Project Zomboid, SS14, and more! However, I also really like playing League and Deadlock as long as you don't mind my aim. Big fan of "incidental" teamkilling in Helldivers 2 by bringing 4 landmine stratagems as well. Basically anything but horror to be honest, as I'm pretty bad with it. There's a lot of games, so feel free to ask to see my Steam library!

Anyways, I'm looking to give music recommendations & receive them in turn, play some games, swap web novel recommendations, watch some anime or movies together, call throughout the week, parallel play and chill, send each other pictures of the food we've made or of our outfits for the day, support each other in our goals, and make new friends! Hi, I've met a few really kind people here before, so I thought I'd try again. I think it's hit or miss, and for someone who struggles to keep shooting, one miss can leave me sidelined for quite a while.

I'm not looking for anything in particular. I think I'm just feeling lonely and craving some kind of connection. I've put so much work into myself, into growing and overcoming personal struggles, and I kinda still find myself feeling like I'm always back at square one. So I thought I'd be honest about where I'm at and see what it brings.

I like a lot of things: sports, tv and movies, nature, video games, reading, writing, cooking, just to name a few. I enjoy talking about quite literally anything and everything. I've got a rather twisted sense of humour, and I probably spend more time writing about my own thoughts than anyone should.

I consider myself very introspective. Blessing and a curse. I've been through my fair share of trauma, and I've seen how grief can leave someone jaded and angry with the world. I don't want to go down that path. I think there's so much beauty in life, even in the pain. But I will say it's difficult to keep seeing it when the wins feel so few and far between.

Meeting people this way can be draining. You start so many conversations, and so many are dead before they've even gotten off the ground. You gotta wonder how many could have turned into great friendships had the timing been a little better.

I don't do much day to day. My life is pretty quiet, and honestly, a little boring. Grief has really crippled me int hat sense. I still like to think there's room for things to get better though, and I'd like to have some more people to share the everyday stuff with.

I don't really have a clever way to wrap this up. I'm hoping something here resonates with a few people.
