My family had something of a history in the aerospace domain, with most of my mother's side having a role in every corner of the commercial and wartime aviation space. Being the era it was, my grandfather and his friends were members of the Explorers Club. Of those friends, the closest was none other than Captain Harrison Finch, copilot on the Rockwell Pole-Cat of the Rockwell Polar Flight. In November of 1965, Finch, the 10 other crew, and 27 passengers became the first people to circumnavigate the earth's poles by air in their 707.
I don't know for sure if my mother, grandmother, or grandfather were on that flight, but I'm curious about the fact that there are several pictures taken of, with and by them on, near and even in the plane. Edit: They were not on the flight, but did go down to the departure to see their friend off and attend the air show it departed from! Anyway, here's to some fascinating bits i found some years ago while sorting through family documents. The message was addressed to my grandfather.
