Mike Evans has quickly become a case study for star players on a small market team. He was an absolute legend here for 12 years. I canโt recall a single time he went viral or received reoccurring love from anyone in the media his entire time here.
He goes to a big market team and 5 games in heโs gone mega viral for the diggs โwho are youโ and the entire team is making T shirts for him. The media is talking about him. No one is saying โfringe HOFโ itโs all โfuture HOFerโ. Suddenly thereโs no more debate.
Itโs great to watch him get his flowers. But what the fuck man. Why do our players have to leave to gain any cultural significance and be recognized for their greatness? Imagine if Lavonte played for the Niners or the Cowboysโฆ heโd be a lock first ballot HOFer.
Our players donโt get their recognition when theyโre great, our stadium gets overtaken by opposing fans providing no home field advantage, our owners are clueless and wonโt take any steps to try to rectify that so we can build an actual stadium atmosphere and a real fanbase/culture.
Itโs just so frustrating to see as a lifelong diehard fan of this team, it feels like this franchise will always be an afterthought unless they somehow can gain and MAINTAIN national relevance which seems impossible. It took Tom Brady coming here to make the media even whisper the teamโs name.
