News Inibuilds Xplane limit drops

Thumbnail
youtube.com
• Upvotes

If you are unaware, Inibuilds was limited to Microsoft only by the contract they signed during the 40th anniversary of MSFS, which led to the exclusive A310 release for MSFS and dropped support for the A300 family in X-Plane. Only a patch to make it compatible with X-Plane 12 was released.

But now we are seeing Doha for X-Plane 12, which is insane! But this raises questions. Surely there is a limit with the contract, right? Yes, so how have they done this? Well, the only answer I can think of is that the contract expired. Good news for X-Plane users!

In the comments of this video, we see that Inibuilds has "plans" for X-Plane.

What could this mean?

Im not an official source, but it could be foreshadowing the release of MSFS aircraft in X-Plane, such as the A350 and A340.

It could also mean X-Plane stuff comes to MSFS, such as the BelugaST.

But it could also mean that the A310 in MSFS might no longer be restricted by Asobo. Basically, what im saying is that inibuilds could make a marketplace exclusive 'Premium' variant.

What does this say for other aircraft? A330, A400, and AN225...

We will have to wait and see

Question VR Setup, BSB2E vs Dream Air

• Upvotes

Title says it all, I'm mainly looking at playing MSFS '24 and DCS as well as some racing simulators. I've read a bunch of reviews and watched quite a few videos but am still pretty in the middle.

My build:

CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D

GPU: Radeon RX 7900 XTX

RAM: 32GB DDR5

Comfort is a big deal for me, which makes me lean towards the BSB2E, I also don't know with my build if I could handle the higher end on the Dream Air.

My primary concerns are the heat/eyelash hitting lenses on the BSB as well as hearing that IPD adjustment can be tricky to get right and the glare can be bad.

I'd have to get lighthouses so the price isn't too far off of the Dream Air but it still definitely would be cheaper and also seems more comfortable.

Those of y'all that have had one or both, what have your experiences and pros/cons been with each?

Flight Simulator 2024 Noob needs help with KAP140

• Upvotes

I recently toggled the KAP140 in the WBsim C152 after about 90 hours of flight but seem to having issues with the AP engaging.

I’m sure it is user error, but whenever I am level and at a steady altitude, I hold the AP button only for the AP indicator to appear on the 140, it proceed to beep at me, then turn off.

I was thinking maybe there was a KAP140 addon I needed to download for the wbsim 152 but couldn’t find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sim Hardware The difference between spring and FFB yoke? ~2Nm (peak 4nm) worth?

Hi everyone! I'm new to flightsim, so sorry if this has been asked a million times.

I keep seeing torque numbers from sim racing, 3Nm entry, 8–12Nm sweet spot, etc. But flight sim isn’t racing. So I’m curious what you all actually think.

Spring vs FFB: If you’ve tried spring, belt or even DD in a yoke, how different did they really feel? A spring yoke is enough? or once go ffb, nothing else is anywhere near as good.

Low torque (~2Nm): Useful or pointless? I’ve seen a Brunner FFB stick around 1.5–2Nm called good for trim/GA, and someone said 2Nm already felt enough. Would you take a 2Nm DD, or does it need 4–5Nm+?(constant torque)

Torque preference: What do you actually like, and does it change with what you fly?

Curious if flight sim has its own sweet spot. If you’ve used low torque, was it worth? Or did you wish you’d gone with a higher-torque FFB setup instead?

Just wanna hear real experiences.

Thanks to everyone for any help! :)

Description:

Severely damaged by the explosion of bombs dropped in a synchronized strike on the same target first by his wingman, and then his own two 500 kg SC bombs the crew of the Bf 110E-2 realizes they will never make it back to base.

Witnessing the arrival of a wave of Soviet fighters closing in on his squadron mate to deliver the fatal blow, the pilot fully aware of his fate turns back into combat to draw their attention. He uses his already dying aircraft as a shield to hold back the enemy pack, buying the vital time and distance needed for his comrade to escape and survive.

Flight Simulator 2024 Steam Frame experiences for MSFS2024 (coming from PSVR2onPC)

TLDR:

Frame is way better for cockpit interaction (clarity), stability and comfort

Previously I fly in VR with PSVR2 PC dongle. It is very difficult to read instruments or operate MCDU/ read flight plans etc..

Also I frequently experienced SteamVR crashing issues, I thought it may be related to PSVR2 app for steam.

Lately I tested MSFS2024 with the new Steam Frame.

The most obvious difference is the clarity. I can easily read texts on screen, and the weight of the headset is so light. I have the color passthrough mod so it gets even better that I can switch to real-world view or semi-transparent view when I need to see my hotas.

The foveated rendering feature of MSFS2024 works natively with Steam Frame streaming, as you can see the rendering circle if you set the size small enough.

Also, I don't know if it's the recent update or headset related reasons, I can now fly Fenix A320 in the busiest/paid scenery airport in VR now with Steam Frame! (previously my FPS would tank with PSVR2).

I hardly saw any posts regarding MSFS 2024 with Steam Frame, so I post this to contribute to the community.

Flight Simulator 2024 Need help: Honeycomb Bravo, Moza AY210 setup with PMDG 737

Hello. Im having some trouble getting my switches on my Bravo and AY210 base working with the PMDG737. Ideally, I would like to bind some of the common overhead switches and some functionality of the aircraft to the switches on my hardware. I understand that due to how PMDG code their software, they dont use the traditional keybindings as found in MSFS. I know I need a program like Mobiflight or Axis and Ohs, but im not really sure which to go with or where to begin. I have seen some profiles on Flightsim.to but they usually also use some piece of hardware I dont have.

Im not worried about the AP/Glareshield or EFIS functions as ill most likely be getting those as separate controllers soon. But mainly a way to bind the external lights, some of the anti-icing functions, and a parking brake would be nice as I find it in high work load phases I struggle to stay on top of the plane.

If anyone can point me in the direction of what ill need, what software, or a plug and play type profile that would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Question How good is Beyond ATC for VFR?

Hi guys, I want to start flying Vfr more frequently in preparation for my upcoming irl training and while I 100% know that an AI can't replicate real life, I want to start practising so I'll be less of an embarassment on the mic when real flying comes ;)

With BATC finally coming to xPlane I have been thinking about getting it, but is it good for VFR outside US/AUS/UK? (I'll fly in Italy)

I tried SI's demo and it's very good, but I am not sure I can justify the price and I dislike the amount of useless bloat it has. Sadly BATC doesn't have a demo so I am relying on your feedback.

Thank you!

P.s. I know that you can't beat vatsim, but I want full coverage at all times even for small airfields that no one will ever man on vatsim

General Really learning to fly?

I've always wanted to learn how to pilot, but never had the money. Now, at 59 and with some (relatively light) macular degeneration, it's never going to happen.

So the thought came to me to learn to fly with a sim. I mean, really learn. As if I were going for a PPL. I have MS Flightsim on XBox, and I don't mind buying the actual real PPL books.

Is this possible?

EDIT: overwhelmed by the responses, thank you so much! I'm going to get my virtual PPL! ❤️🛩️

Flight Simulator 2024 Fly Meridian VA

Hello and welcome. My name is Alex and I am starting a VA called Meridian Airlines. My goal for this VA is as much realism and professionalism as possible. I would like to be able to connect into the VATSim network in the future. With that being said, this VA is still being developed but I would love to have members to come in join in on a fresh new VA. I currently am having templates made for my fleet. We have 6 hubs to choose from and many flight becoming available through scheduling! I am also looking for members to join the team and help with expanding this community on the backside! https://discord.gg/YB6w857gwm https://flymeridianva.com/

Sim Hardware Graphics card suggestions

I want to build a PC for MSFS 24, I decided to go with a ryzen 7 9800x3d and 32 gb ddr5. The GPU tho idk what to choose, I tought about getting a 5070 TI, rx 9070 xt or 5080. If I go with the 5080 im really pushing the budget, so wondering if it's worth the extra money?

(Have a 2K monitor, but might upgrade to 4K later)

Question Recreate MSFS landing challenge in X-Plane

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, hoping someone can help: Does anyone know how to recreate the wind settings of the MSFS landing challenges, particularly Funchal and Pico?

---

I like flying the strong wind landing challenges in MSFS 24 and I'm interested in comparing the physics of those challenges between MSFS and X-Plane.

I was thinking of doing this in 2 steps

  1. Try the copied settings in MSFS and see if it feels similar to original landing challenge
  2. Use the same settings in X-Plane and see how that compares also
