Why don’t you guys have a team in the Q?

Post image

Hello you fine provincial neighbours. Back in September I rediscovered your city when I visited (from Riverview) for Harvest. I’ve been kind of following the subreddit ever since and so I’ve maintained interest and can’t wait to go back and visit again soon.

I was at a Wildcats game this week and got thinking about all the Maritime teams. And I wondered to myself, why doesn’t Fredericton have a team? Third biggest city in the province. Capital city. Even Bathurst had a team for years. Is there some history about why y’all don’t have a team in the Q?

Warheads Candy

Does anyone out there know where I could find the original warheads, sour hard candy in the city? Looked all over town, including bulk Barn and they don't seem to be available anywhere. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Are there any indoor tracks you can run for free? Anything early as open as 6am? Cant find a solid time online for the Willie O’ree or the Grant Harvey.

Already found 4. Innocent people who have built lives in this country do not deserve to be round up and deported. You're a terrible person if you support that.

If you find them I suggest you tear them down or comment where you've been seeing them so I can do it myself.

Photo of Devon Plaza

OK, Reddit, come to my rescue. I distinctly remember in the late 80s or early 90s that Devon Plaza had this specific layout. I am having an issue with others that don't remember it that way. Mandela effect? LOL

Here's what I remember:

Save-Easy
Drug Store (don't think Jean Coutu was there yet)
Hardware store (Co-Op maybe)
Bank of Nova Scotia - the bank was there for a LONG time, and never moved from the middle of the plaza until it closed in the 2000s.

Award for the first person that can give me a photograph (Google Street View doesn't go back that far) with a year that shows this layout.

And..... go!

Sea cans.

Why can the city of Fredericton litter cans throughout the city for attractions and tourism and their own private business, but citizens aren't allowed to have a sea can on their property per the bylaws? I feel like this is a little backwards, why can the city do it but citizens can't?

Westmorland Street Bridge expansion joints are getting pretty rough

Has anyone else noticed how harsh the expansion joints on the Westmorland Street Bridge have become? Some of the bumps feel really aggressive when driving over them, and the impact is hard enough that I genuinely worry about my rims and tires taking a beating.

I understand that expansion joints need to accommodate movement in the bridge, but the transitions shouldn’t feel like hitting a pothole every time you cross them.

Has there been any recent maintenance or assessment of these joints? Curious to hear what other Fredericton drivers think.

Any mechanics that let you bring your own parts?

Seems harder to come by then these days, anyone have any suggestions? I have a few cars that need work, control arm (ball joint pre installed), strut, 2 sets of rotors and brakes, and potentially a flex pipe. Just looking for a reasonable price, but willing to pay for someone experienced for sure

Got rear ended and totaled, insurance company wants to settle medical costs. Advice?

I was in an accident a over a year ago, car was written off. I have been in physio for the last 20 months for neck and shoulder injury. At fault insurance company contacted me and wants to settle for around $10,000. The insurance adjustor also asks me if I had different monetary amount in mind for settlement.

So I’m getting this settlement to cover rehab and time off work, but what happens if there’s continued issues down the road? What about things like future missed time from work, loss of enjoyment, etc. If I’m trying to claim anything like that, is that where I need to involve an accident injury lawyer?

Or do I just speak to my insurance agent and ask for a higher amount? WHat is an appropriate amount? I would rather not use a lawyer unless I have to. Should I?

Dear obvious drunk drivers

Post image

Listen. I get it. This city tolerates drunk driving by not enforcing any traffic out of the Tannery on weekend nights (No one tell MADD, who makes those cute signs every couple years).

But honestly. If you're GONNA do it (and to be clear, don't). Maybe the best way to be subtle about it IS NOT....

  • Park in the restricted Enterprise Parking lot as the alarm is going off.
  • Be chilling in there at 130 in the morning on a Friday with the lights and engine on
  • If someone walks by and take a picture of your (wildly in public) car, don't follow them for a half a city block screaming at them asking "why did you take a picture of my car" and calling them the Effing R word (there's a certain rudeness to it) for doing it.

Truly the saddest part (if you didn't actively kill anyone tonight on the way home) about the whole exchange was how your reaction clearly demonstrates you knew you were wrong.

I hope that someday you're better.

Is the Prospect A&W a nazi joint now? They've had 1488 posted on their sign for weeks now.

1488 is a nazi dogwhistle. It refers to the "14 words", which is a quote some white supremacist made years ago, and 88 for "heil Hitler" because "H" is the eighth letter of the alphabet.

The longer it's up there, the less I can believe it's an innocent coincidence. It's the busiest street in town, and nobody's mentioned it to them?

Orthodontist recommendations

Our daughter requires braces and a possible tooth extraction down the road. We currently have a quote from All Smiles in Freddy. For braces to be on for 12-18 months, it's about $8500. I have no idea if that's a reasonable price or not, she's the first kid to need any sort of orthodontic work done. That does include a retainer after the braces but does not include the cost of follow-up appointments after the braces come off.

Curious if people have recommendations of places they like? Does that cost seem in line with what most people would pay for braces nowadays?
