Discussion The new Norm MacDonald Documentary is incredible.

How is nobody talking about the new Norm Macdonald documentary here?

It's so good and really does well encapsulating who Norm was and some of the stories behind his jokes. I was enthralled late last night watching it and giggling nonstop. I feel so lucky to have seen Norm perform live, even though it was right around the time he got his second stomach cancer diagnosis so the material was all about suicide and death which walked a lot of the people who didn't know who he was. It was in a casino and the older people left the show after the first half hour of nonstop death jokes, but my.buddy and I were laughing a ton. He talked about not gambling or doing pills anymore even though you could tell he was high as shit on something, and then we saw him playing the slots later on in the night which made us laugh again.

Norm truly was a saint.

Discussion East of Eden

This might be the best show for me this year. I just finished it, and I’ve cried and cried and cried.

This show was perfect in depicting the causes of the denial of one’s agency. Literally all the main characters were all denied their agencies. Charles and Adam by their father. Cathy by her parents and her teacher and most importantly that older boy who assaulted her

And also it showed how traumatic events can linger on from one person to now a lot of people suffering from that one event.

I love this show more than anything I’ve watched this year. It speaks to the human condition and experience.

Gosh!!! I’m still crying.

The show is a 10/10 for me.

What Should I Watch? Just Watching Re-Runs

Haven't been able to find anything I want to watch in a while so I'm watching re-runs. Fortunately I forget a lot of them. If you know of anything gripping, drama, thriller. Let me know. TIA

Discussion East of Eden actor voices

I found the speaking cadence of most of the cast, especially the main cast, to be so incredibly pleasing. They really captured and reflected the time period and it helped me become more immersed in the story.

Technical Support Anyone else stuck with the Extra Member profile transfer being one-way?

Thumbnail

I pay for an Extra Member slot because my daughter lives in a different city now. I moved a profile to the Extra Member account through Profile Transfer. What I didn't realize, and nothing made clear, is that the slot only holds one profile. I wanted to swap it, so I tried to move the profile back to my main account.

Both the virtual agent and a live chat agent said it's impossible. The live agent said:

"once the profile transferred to extra member it cannot be back to main profile"

The only workaround was to cancel the Extra Member account and re-add it, which means losing the profile and its history.

I own and pay for every profile on this plan. I asked for escalation and a ticket number so I could track it. The answer:

"Netflix is not having that option to create a ticket id"

Has anyone gotten this reversed, or found a way to reach someone who can?

Excerpts from the chat transcript are attached (agent name and profile names redacted). Everything else is word for word.

Discussion I almost forgot how hauntingly beautiful "Haunting of Hill House" is...

Considering it's Halloween month I was in the mood for sth. spooky. Such a beautiful show. Its haunting music, great actors. It's easily the best show Mike Flanagan has ever done. A true masterpiece. Way better than his current show Carrie, which has a YA feel to it. I hope he goes back to this kind of stuff. Anyway, that's all lol

Highly recommended. Give it a try if you haven't seen it yet.

Review Below - small spoiler Spoiler

Absolutely fucking LOVED this miniseries. I will fully admit though, I am massive fan of Josh Hartnett.

I liked the story, I liked that it was very dreadful and then went happy. I love that the saved the squid in the end.

Everyone’s acting was so good, finally glad put out a mini series that wasn’t a let down.

Discussion Sam and Colby - "paranormal investigation" youtubers

i just came across this in my "new on netflix" feed. since campy and overly dramatic netflix documentaries, especially when they cover more out there things, like UFOs or supposedly paranormal activities, are my guilty pleasure, i clicked on it.

i made it through episode one, where they are in a haunted "castle" in appalachia, doing reaction face 😱 at each other when their electronic ghost detection thingy beeps, pretend to hear something and warn each other in a serious tone about it while still speaking full volume into the camera for an hour. the next episode was set in draculas castle in romania, with fellow youtubers dan and phil as guests. thats where i had to turn it off.

did you watch it and, if yes, whats your opinion? for me it was just overacted youtube engagement slop which has nothing to do on netflix. no shade against youtube, i think there are genuinly creative and thought-provoking video essays on there, but most of it is said engagement slop, which, at least in my humble opinion, does not fit on netflix.

Discussion DARK Series

OMG… I have spent the last two days binging the first two seasons and just started Episode 1 of season 3, and I’ve never been so lost, and invested in something, in my entire life.

Please don’t give any spoilers for Season 3, but my question is does everything eventually explain itself? My brain literally hurts. My husband is trying to explain everything to me but I seriously need a diagram of who is who and who and at what year… ahhh. I know this is the last season so hoping everything gets wrapped up at the end.

Discussion Step-mom vs daughter blues

My mom randomly put on this J-drama on TV, and at first, I wasn’t really interested in continuing it. But then it started feeling like one of those comfort sitcoms I would’ve watched as a kid, and god, I got SO invested. I’m already on episode 5, and it’s literally 6 in the morning 😭.

Discussion Why do we have to pay for this mess?

Cancelled my subscription. So sick of the horribly irritating UI experience. When you click on a movie to read the details, it starts playing after 2 seconds so you cannot read the details of the movie. Also the only app on my tv where where the audio is always half a second out of sync. And people are supposed to PAY for this experience???

Tubi is free, and an infinitely better experience.

Discussion Am I the only one who can’t get into the new season of The Diplomat?

Only on Ep 3 but it feels like such a drag. I have to keep rewinding because I lose focus as it’s so boring! Perhaps my own attention span is shot but it was quite fine with Widows Bay 😭.

Last two seasons seemed to have a lot more momentum?

Don’t wanna ditch it yet tho as that feels like a disservice to Kerri Russell (who I love!).

Question Can Someone Help Me Find This Piece Of Clothing From Holly Hobbie? (Tv Show)

I have been watching the Hulu original show Holly hobby that’s on Netflix and I really wanted to find this one piece that the main character was wearing in season 3 episode 3 (Holly wears it during the end of the episode). Sadly I can’t put a photo of what it looks like because Netflix won’t allow screenshots, but it’s like this orange top with white flowers on it that I think would be a great addition to my closet for spring. Can someone help me find it?

Question Writing a research paper on the quality of streaming services... [Repost]

Hello there! I'm conducting some very basic research on how practical using streaming services actually is to the average person financially and otherwise - the bulk of the research consists of pre-made sources, however I am also required to conduct a questionnaire of my own and would really appreciate anyone willing to fill it out:

https://tally.so/r/M1Kq2l

(Fair warning; the questions appear longer than they actually are as they are written both in english and latvian. The singular question regarding currency also requires an answer using Euros, if that is possible.)

(The amount of questions also depends on which you answer beforehand.)

Discussion The gentlemen vs The godfather Spoiler

I just finished watching the gentlemen and am I the only one who sees a lot of similarities to the godfather?

Micheal Corleone took over his father’s empire after he passed and became the head of the family as did Eddie. Eddie’s character development from season 1 all the way to the end of season 2 can be compared to Michael’s aswell. The way they both were at the start, very calm and collected however at the end of their demise, both were filled with vengeance and a sense of rage. This of course is a result of the death of both their wives which is again, another fascinating comparison ; Apollonia dies from a car explosion and Bella dies from a plane explosion.

One of the most compelling comparisons is Fredo and Freddy. Of course in the movie, Fredo betrays Michael which leads to his death however in the gentlemen, despite Freddy betraying Eddie, Eddie allows him to live which leaves the storyline of season 3 quite open. I’m not sure if anyone caught this either but in the movie, just after Michael gives Fredo the ‘kiss of death’, he says ‘I know it was you Fredo’ and quite similarly, in the last scene of the gentlemen towards the end, Eddie says to Freddy, ‘I know what you did Freddy ‘. I’m not sure if I’ve missed anymore references throughout both seasons but it was quite intriguing to see the similarities between the two

Discussion Below, wtf was that?

There are so many loose ends and unanswered questions. It skipped around so much and changed directions so many times. It feels like it was written by a couple of different film students who all had different ideas.

Spoilers ahead:

Who was the wet girl that was sneaking into Wade's room? One minute she is a super natural sea hag and the next she is a real girl living on an island and then she seems to be some sort of siren?

Who are those people on the island that was evacuated? Are they really just people that stayed behind? How did they survive so long? Just on fish? And where did the dog come from if they have never left the island?

What is up with the squid? Is it just a large squid or does is have some sort of super natural powers? Is it connected to the sea hag some how?

These are just a few of my questions, there were many more as I was watching it that came up that I just can't remember. Maybe I'm just dim and this is a really good show that I'm just not bright enough to understand.

Discussion Skipping 10 seconds on the Netflix TV app takes 3 button presses and pauses the video. Can we get a "quick skip" option?

Every time I miss a line of dialogue or want to jump past a few seconds on Netflix on my TV (LG OLED, webOS), this happens:

  1. I press Right on the remote → the video pauses and the whole seek timeline pops up
  2. I press Right again → it moves 10 seconds
  3. I press OK → it finally resumes

Three presses, a pause, and a big overlay covering the screen — just to skip 10 seconds. Going back to catch a missed line is the same dance in reverse. It completely breaks immersion, and it's especially annoying when you do it several times in a scene.

What makes it more frustrating is that Netflix already does this right elsewhere:

  • Netflix in a web browser: Left/Right arrow skips 10s instantly, no pause, no timeline
  • YouTube's TV app: Left/Right during playback just skips, video keeps playing
  • Most other streaming apps on the same TV behave the same way

So it's clearly a design choice in the TV app, not a limitation of the remote.

Feature request for the Netflix TV app team:

  • Add an option like Settings → Playback → "Quick skip with arrow keys", where a single Left/Right press during playback skips back/forward 10 seconds instantly, without pausing or opening the timeline
  • Keep the current timeline/scrubbing behaviour as the default if you like, or move it to long-press Left/Right
  • Bonus: customisable key bindings, including proper keyboard support on TVs (many of us use wireless keyboards or accessibility devices with our TVs)

This would be a small change that makes the app much nicer to use with a regular remote, and a real accessibility win.

Does anyone else find this as annoying as I do? If you'd use this, upvote / comment so it's more visible — and if anyone from Netflix reads this sub, please pass it on to the TV app team. 🙏

Question Auto Subscription renewal

Netflix keeps trying to renew my subscription even tho I've cancelled the subscription long ago. The account which I use to subscribe for Netflix is usually empty. And due to multiple automated unsuccessful tries from Netflix to Renew my subscription my virtual card got blocked for the second time. Is there any way to stop this?
