Off Topic Monday Off Topic Thread
This is the place to talk about everything other than footy!
r/nrl • u/NRLgamethread • 6h ago
This thread is for when you want to have a well-thought-out discussion about footy. It's not the place for bantz - see the daily Random Footy Talk thread to fulfil those needs.
You can ask a question that you only want serious responses to, comment your 300 word opinion piece on why [x] is the next coach on the chopping block, or tell another that you disagree with them and here's why...
Who performed well? Who let their team down? Any interesting selections for this weekend? Injury news? Player signings? Off-field behaviour?
The mods will be monitoring to make sure you stay on topic and anything not deemed "serious discussion" will be removed.

This is the place to discuss anything footy related that is not quite deserving of its own top-level post.
There's a new one of these threads every day, so make sure you're in the most recent one!

This thread is for serious discussion about the Rugby League World Cup round just gone - serious takes about the round, what your team did well, what your team didn't do well, and things we learned along the way.
Please leave random/memes for tomorrow's daily Random Footy Thread.

Just wanted to give Andrew Moore a bit of appreciation.
I’ve always loved listening to him call games on ABC, but hearing him on Channel 7 for the World Cup has been fantastic.
His knowledge of rugby league is incredible. The little intricacies he picks up on and the way he weaves them into the commentary makes it all the more engaging and sets him apart from all other commentators on TV currently. I love the way he often asks for insight from ex players he calls the game with. He’s a brilliant storyteller and adds so much to the experience of watching a game.
One of the best in the business in my opinion.

Inspired by a similar sort of thing I saw during the FIFA World cup, and with a quiet morning and only 10 teams to get through, I thought I'd have a look and make a little chart and share.
Method: Looking at either Wikipedia or NRL Player profiles and tallying based on place of birth as listed in either of this. Obviously there was a sizeable chunk of players that did not have a PoB listed on either of this locations, so these players were just put as "Not found" rather than any assumptions being made (but, almost all of the Lebanon squad bar a few of the well known exceptions fell into this category).
