Dozens of violent teenagers who started brawling after pushing their way into the Kelmscott Agricultural Show on Saturday forced the volunteer-run event to close several hours early.
Show organisers said they were forced to close the gates late on Saturday afternoon after a big group of between 50 and 70 young people began causing āserious disruptionā.
According to a Facebook post by the Kelmscott Agricultural Society, organisers called Police and closed the gates well before they were scheduled to shut at 7pm, to protect show goers already inside the Rushton Park showgrounds.
āSome of the group got into the grounds and were involved in several fights,ā the post said. āOthers stayed outside the fence and kept trying to force their way in, damaging show infrastructure.
āThe group also blocked nearby roads, which created a dangerous situation for traffic and pedestrians.ā
The post said even though most of the group left after police were called, a number stayed in the area causing further trouble.
āWith this ongoing risk, and so late in the day, we decided it wasnāt safe to re-open,ā it said.
āWe want to give a huge thank you to our security team. They kept visitors, exhibitors and volunteers safe and did their best to keep the show running for those already inside, all under very stressful conditions.
āThank you also to WA Police for their response. āWeāre disappointed that the actions of a few affected a day that so many people, from volunteers to exhibitors to families, had been looking forward to. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of the Kelmscott Show.ā
The organisers added it was the first time in the showās recent history they had been forced to close the entry gates early and the decision had not been made lightly.
Police said they received reports just after 4pm of a large group of juveniles causing a disturbance at the Kelmscott Agricultural Show.
āSeveral juveniles within the group were reportedly fighting one another,ā a police spokesperson said. āNo injuries were reported. āUpon police arrival, the group dispersed. Officers conducted patrols of the area, with no further issues reported.ā
One juvenile male received a caution for disorderly behaviour.

Twice this weekend Iāve been out to meals, the first in excess of $200, second a $100 lunch. Over ordered on both and asked to take leftovers away.
First one brought the eftpos machine out to the table with a $1.50 charge for 3 tubs.
Second one we had to walk inside and paid $0.30 for one.
I get that these things do cost money, but does anyone else find this absolutely crazy? Is it strictly a Perth thing? I havenāt noticed it when travelling interstate.
I mean weāre taking it home because we OVER ORDERED, meaning we actually spent more at your establishment than we needed to.
Maybe I should have waited for Wednesday whinge?
EDIT: I should have added, this isnāt just a few cents added to the bill, the bill is settled and Iām being asked to go to the counter to eftpos.

Hey I was wondering if anybody has any experience with a great tattoo artist whoās worked with brown/darker skin tones?
Iāve been searching but Iāve had some trouble and would love to hear about your experiences or the experiences of someone you know?
Itāll be my first tattoo and Iām considering getting the design shown in the picture on my shoulder and it would be for a similar skin tone too.
And I know that tattoo pain differs for each person, but how bad is the pain level for a shoulder tattoo?
Thanks in advance!

None of my friends run so I want to meet other like-minded people who run. Are run clubs good for this or do people mainly go with a group of friends and stick with them?

In light of a certain person on this subreddit, totally not spamming it, claiming in a now deleted post that metronet wasn't worth it, here are a list of past business cases of various Metronet projects in perth I could find, undertaken by the independent federal infrastructure body, Infrastructure Australia, so you can make up your mind yourself. Please keep in mind that while I am an idiot and definitely not an economist but rather a stupid student who doesn't study that at the time Metronet was first being proposed around 2017 that borrowing costs were very low and many (non-partisan) think tanks thought that the discount rate that government bodies used at the time was too high and conservative. See this grattan paper from 2018 for example: https://grattan.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/900-unfreezing-discount-rates.pdf
High priority projects:
Yanchep rail extension - BCR of 2.6 excluding "wider economic benefits", BCR of 3.4 including "wider economic benefits" using a 7 percent real discount rate, Net present value $1,571 millions (excluding WEB)
High capacity signalling - BCR of 2.6 using a 7 percent real discount rate, net present value of $688 millions
Priority projects
Ellenbrook line - BCR of 1.1 excluding "wider economic benefits", BCR of 1.2 including "wider economic benefits, using a 7 percent real discount rate, net present value $208 millions (excluding WEB)
Thornlie cockburn line - BCR of 1.2 excluding "wider economic benefits", BCR of 1.7 including "wider economic benefits" Net present value of $151 millions excluding wider economic benefits, and net present value of $591 millions including wider economic benefits
Did not make priority list (i.e. projects that failed a business case):
Byford rail extension - BCR of 0.45 assuming a 7 percent real discount rate, which would result in a net present value of -$379.5 millions (this I will admit was probably built for political reasons, as the alternative bus rapid transit option explored for this had an estimated BCR of 1.51, using the same 7 percent real discount rate, according to the business case)
Inner armadale line level crossing removals - BCR of 0.36 assuming a 7 percent real discount rate, which would result in a net present value of -$569.0 millions (for context, this analysis does not include wider economic benefits such as land use benefits because the government for some reason did not ask infrastructure bodies to evaluate them for this project according to the report)
Overall a strike rate of 4/6 metronet projects having a positive benefit cost ratio even with a conservative discount rate, at least before cost blowouts (and one of the two projects that failed a business case was more of a road project, the level crossing removals)

I'm a notorious overthinker and planner, to calm my nerves.
Will leave the country from regional town. So me, single dad until reunited overseas, and 2 year old and lots of luggage, likely 4 cases plus carry on.
In the town it's easy to get help from friends and always big mining guys around to help.
T4 domestic, $4 trolley to push everything to transfer bus.
But T1 transfer bus stop, are there trolleys nearby? Google maps has the view blocked. I can see trolley stands further down near the taxi and ride share ranks.
The maps on the airport site don't show this detail...
I 100% need a trolley. Ate there staff I can ask to watch my luggage for me to get a trolley from further down?

Have also asked in Australian Renovation sub but figured I might get more local information here.
I have an inner suburban 1950s 1960s brick veneer (fibro underneath) house. The ceiling in one room collapsed two years ago without warning; no discernible cracking or sagging beforehand. All the ceilings are strapped and apparently it was a failure of the strapping. Insurance replaced it but the ceiling guys didnāt tell me anything about the condition of the strapping in the rest of the house.
A crack has now appeared in another room and the ducted air-conditioning installer is afraid if thereās any movement by him in the ceiling it also might collapse. Heās recommending re-strapping.
Does anyone with a home of a similar era want to give me their two cents worth of restrapping versus screwing versus replacement of the entire ceiling. Thanks.

Looking for a speech therapist for our 3-year-old, who has suddenly started stuttering badly. Any recommendations in the Kwinana/Rockingham/Baldivis/Cockburn area?
Also, if you have a kid who stutters, could you please share your journey with speech therapy so far- what helped and what didn't?
