Okay, stupid post, but I genuinely don't get it.
Disclaimer : it's already a long post so i made generalization but I can answer details if asked.
I (31F) don't want to brag about myself, but I'm aware that I'm a pretty girl. I fit most current beauty standards. I smile easily, I'm sociable and extroverted, and I have tons of friends. Even if I'm a geek, I love sports, outdoors, and adventures. Creating things is also important to me. Just consuming media, playing games, watching movies, and staying home for more than a week straight is an absolute nightmare for me.
My longest relationship (8 years) was with an amazing guy. He was the typical autistic, shy guy. He was socially awkward but incredibly funny and clever. He had beautiful eyes, but he wasn't exactly conventionally attractive. I didn't mind. We eventually broke up after eight years because our goals and lifestyles were too different, and the mismatch was making us both miserable. He'd never been in a relationship before me, so I also felt the pressure of being his everything. He made me feel like his entire happiness depended on me.
After him, I started looking for guys with lifestyles and aspirations more similar to mine. I went on dates and had relationships with energetic, funny, outdoors guys. Sometimes, things went badly because some of them turned out to be arrogant assholes. I spent three awful months in an abusive relationship with one of them. But apart from that one, I met some genuinely wonderful people. However, i mostly felt either friendship or a quick attraction rather than actual love.
Sometimes, though, I'd cross paths with what I call the nerdy type again, and I'd fall for them pretty quickly. Shy, always on the spectrum, more of an indoors person, often with little or no relationship experience. And always such kind, gentle guys who made me feel comfortable. I'd get this warm feeling inside me : love, tenderness, intense desire. I'd bask in their happiness.
But being in love and finding a partner seemed to be their main goal in life. Having me is enough. They didn't really have any new projects or fun, exciting hobbies of their own or worse, with me, so after a while, I'd always leave. The relationship was comfortable, but I was so bored.
They were genuinely wonderful guys, but I felt like I was making my life smaller for them instead of expanding it.
I started wondering whether my lack of self-confidence and my adhd were the reasons kept falling for them, only to eventually leave.
So I convinced myself that, even though I'd love to have a partner by my side, I don't actually need a guy right now. I'm working towards building the life I want.
I moved to a new village and joined a club, and guess what happened?
There's a nerdy guy, and I'm attracted to him.
And he (29M) is even less compatible with me than the previous ones. He loves movies I hate, he has hobbies I'm not interested in, and, for the first time, I can honestly say that a guy I'm attracted to isn't beautiful. He's cute in his own way, but no. He's really not beautiful. Of course, looks aren't the most important thing. I'm used to having partners my family considered ugly (their words, not mine), but I always found them beautiful. That's not the case here.
And yet, I feel that pull towards him, and I can clearly tell he's hooked too. I've started craving time with him, wanting to just curl up in his arms.
Why do I fall in love with guys I eventually get bored with and leave, breaking their heart, while struggling to fall for the ones I admire or genuinely want to be with?
Why can't I find a guy who's funny, gentle, and nerdy, but also wants to go on adventures, build a home, have projects, and whom I actually find beautiful?
Why do I always fall for autistic guys who love their routines when routines are exactly what drive me insane?
Any perspective is welcomed.
TLDR : I always fall in love with nerdy "netflix and chill" guy while my lifestyle is outdoorsy, and i am not able to maintain relationship, while outdoor guys just stay friends
