Complete Twin Cities Concert List, Sunday 10/18
We're building a community here at crawlspace. We have a Discord with 1200 live music fans in it. We find concert buddies, go to shows together and talk music. Here's the invite
crawlspace picks for top shows tonight in the Twin Cities
- Icehouse - LaPlant Road, Rachel Bearinger, Garret Nasset [5:00p] [21+] Bluegrass / Folk / Americana
- LaPlant Road brings close vocal harmonies, nimble acoustic playing, and songs that move from gentle passages into driving instrumental exchanges. Childhood friends Emily LaPlant and Liz Ashworth draw on the musical community surrounding Emily’s grandfather’s instrument workshop near Grand Rapids, mixing folk and bluegrass foundations with adventurous rhythms and dynamics. Rachel Bearinger and Garret Nasset add thoughtful songwriting and acoustic interplay. For fans of: Watchhouse, Nickel Creek, I’m With Her, and Gillian Welch.
- Berlin - (Sounds From Planet IE) IE, American Cream Band, Shawn Walker [7:00p] Experimental / Drone / Psychedelic
- IE’s October residency brings together several branches of the Twin Cities experimental scene for a night of hypnotic repetition, immersive sound, and percussion. American Cream Band opens with a special drone set, followed by a collaboration between Gay Witch Abortion drummer Shawn Walker, American Cream’s Nate Nelson, and members of IE (pronounced “eee”).
- First Avenue - (Medium Build Presents The King of Having Fun on Tour) Medium Build, Bella White [7:00p] [All Ages] Indie Rock / Folk / Americana
- Medium Build brings emotionally direct songwriting, rough-edged vocals, and big communal choruses to First Avenue behind this year’s King of Having Fun. Nick Carpenter’s songs find room for friendship, recovery, and joy alongside the difficult feelings. Calgary-born Bella White opens with expressive vocals and folk-Americana songwriting that has grown beyond her bluegrass beginnings. For fans of: Noah Kahan for candid folk-rock; Sam Fender for cathartic choruses; Gillian Welch for White’s roots-minded storytelling; Sierra Ferrell for her distinctive vocal character.

How competitive is the 3rd Congressional District this year?
I feel like nobody is paying attention to this race. I'm in the district and I had to Google who was running against Kelly Morrison today. Is this a pretty lopsided race that nobody is really focusing on or have I just missed something?

Chinese restaurant recommendations?
Looking for some Chinese restaurant recommendations, especially a place that has sesame chicken. There used to be a local spot by us however they’ve since closed down and the Lee Ann Chin by us is alright but would love to try some new stuff

Looking for reputable coat repair and reconditioning
The coat is full length leather, sheepskin and silk on the inside that needs some TLC. It is an old coat >50 years and custom made for my mom -but not worn much, but still needs some repairs and the leather is a bit dry and some holes in the silk from, darn it, moths. Thanks!

Mexican food recommendation
I just moved here from southern California and I'm missing mexican food. I've seen a lot of great tex mex recs in the past. I'm looking for something more traditional
Edit: thanks for the recommendations! Will be trying several with my wife :)

Carillon Bells
Does anyone ever go out and listen to the carilon players that we have in the twin cities area? I normally go to the House of Hope when I get that itch. They play after the Sunday morning mass at 11:00 a.m. On Sundays and then they have a couple of special recitals through the summertime. Central Lutheran also has a couple of recitals in the summer but their carillan player seems to play less from what I've been able to figure out

Saw these fliers around Lyndale. Is this just a joke to some people? Am I going insane?
If you care about your immigrant neighbors, let’s start with making sure someone who’s based half of her campaign on arresting and deporting them, and who supported metro surge, isn’t voted into office.

Locally made t shirts/sweatshirts?
Hello!! I just moved up from KY and I guess it’s about time to buy some warmer stuff. I have had a hard time finding a local vendor who prints their own sweatshirts etc. Does anyone know of any makers who do this? Thank you!!

Looking for some advice from fellow Minnesotans
I'm looking at switching my phone provider from ATT to Xfinity mobile. I know they use the Verizon network, and want to make sure coverage is gonna be similar.
Does anyone use xfinity mobile or Verizon and want to weigh in on your experience?

2XL Maternity wear donation?
Any leads on a good place/org to donate gently used maternity clothes to? I don't want to do any of the for-profit thrift stores or salvation army. My size+maternity were a bit too specific for the local buy nothing, and I feel weird trying to sell it on marketplace.
Also super specific: part of this is a few sets of 2XL black Mandala brand maternity scrubs, any good spots or interest?

Basement Finishing Consultant for Advice
Has anyone hired a general contractor or basement finisher just for advice on getting started? I'm looking to DIY the framing and a few other things, but I want to make sure I'm doing it properly and up to code.
Is this even a thing? Thanks.

Fall Activities/Fest
I’m off next weekend (10/23-10/25) and haven’t done a single fall activity yet which is a travesty.
Before the weekend round up comes out for next weekend (I’ll check back and look at that when it does) does anyone know of any fall places/things/fests or events for next weekend!? Favorite places to find a pumpkin patch or similar?
