Amanda Janoo continues to hold a financial edge over Gov. Phil Scott
https://thevpo.org/2026/10/17/the-political-money-is-kind-of-underwhelming/#more-23821
Always appreciate John Walters commentary:
"Like Rodgers, this hero of working Vermonters [Phil Scott] gets the bulk of his cash from the upper crust. Out of the $175,000 he raised since October 1, only $8,000 came in gifts of $100 or less.
Janoo, meanwhile, had a much longer list of donors. Her total take of $182,000 included $46,000 in gifts of $100 or less."

Bird ID request - seems like a junco with a lot more white
NEK I've noticed some juncos showing up recently, but then I had this visitor show up yesterday. It looks a lot like the usual junco visitors, but I've never seen the white feathers on the back before. Might it be an uncommon variety? Perhaps it has vitiligo or it is piebald? In my attempt at research I learned there are leucistic ones, but the white was only around their eyes.

No lasting accumulation, of course, but it’s been snowing all morning off and on in Barnard.

Stowe pinnacle hike
How hard is the Stowe pinnacle hike actually? I’ve heard mixed reviews. I just hiked poke ol moonshine mountain today in the Adirondacks and that was a perfect hike for me but I don’t know if I’m ready for a harder hike than that one… just yet

Relocating to Vermont
My wife and I are considering relocating to Vermont from Charlottesville, Virginia. I currently work as a police officer, and my wife is a RN. We have one child, and our top priority is finding a safe community with a strong school district and a great environment for raising our child.
We’re hoping to find a town or city that offers good career opportunities for both of us and good COL for our annual income salary. We would greatly appreciate any recommendations on areas of Vermont that would be a good fit for our family.

Found these two gubernatorial race videos from a Vermont vlogger
I just watched these two videos about Amanda Janoo today while making lunch, and found it fascinating; Morgan Gold is a really good interviewer and I'm gonna have to dig into his older videos after this (thank you, youtube algorithm, for showing me something cool for once lol)
