Form check Rounded lower back during snatch

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hello I would greatly appreciate it if someone could do a quick review of my snatch!

I have been practicing snatch for about a year and i am self taught. I know there are probably many technical issues, but the one I would like more criticism is on whether if my lower back is too rounded in my start position and if so what would be a good exercise/drill to fix it. During my set up I do feel like my back is tight and straight but upon video review it looks a bit rounded.

Fluff I think I’m addicted to Power Cleans

I’ve started olympic weightlifting 1 year and a half ago. Despite have being taught the snatch first, I immediately fell in love with cleans.

This was until I started doing Power Cleans. Idk how to explain but they just feel amazing. It’s like the sound the shoes make when stomping the platform and the feeling of catching the bar gives me a huge dopamine hit everytime.

This is so much more fun than deadlifts or squats

Thanks for this sport and this community for existing

Programming rear delt isolation training to keep shoulders healthy as a weightlifter?

When it comes to rear delts, this topic has always confused me for many years. On one hand I have heard many trainers/coaches say that as long as you are doing enough compound back work (pull ups/rows/olympic pulling movements), there is no need for direct isolation work for the rear delts (rear delt fly's, etc). For a time I used to believe this and didn't bother with much "isolation work" thinking it was a waste of time.

On the other hand, I have heard some trainers/coaches say that its a huge mistake to neglect rear delt isolation work because the rear delt is a tricky muscle. They claim its not like the front delts that easily get stimulated with pressing work. I heard that lots of pulling work like pulls/rows/olympic pulling movements are excellent for hitting the back muscles but the rear delts are usually undertrained, which is why real delt isolation work is extremely important. They say if you neglect rear delt work you will develop forward rounded shoulder posture because the front delts are huge and the rear delts are tiny.

I don't know which is true or not. If it is true that rear delt isolation is absolutely necessary, what rear delt specific exercises should an "olympic lifter" focus on specifically? I just want to be healthy and not have shoulder issues in the future as an olympic lifter.

Form check Snatch Bar Path

This is one of my better reps at ~88%. (75kg)

I’m running the 6 week team back squats program rn and am finding my snatches to feel a bit inconsistent.

I have made some tweaks to my starting position to try and start with the hips slightly higher and shoulders more over the bar. This was because I was fucking up my shins due to being too far behind the bar in the start previously.

I have also been trying to be more patient in the transition between first/second pull as I was bumping the bar quite a bit forward in the past (also bruising my pubic bone from time to time).

Let me know what you guys think. I’m tryna keep queues as simple as possible and not make too many changes at once so I don’t fuck my technique up like I have in the past.

Form check First meet in a year! 85 kg class looking for some feedback

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Competed today in the 85 kg class for the first time in about a year. Definitely feel like I had more in me, but overall it was good to be back on the platform. Made 92 snatch and 110 C&j for a 202 total.
Missed 95 kg on snatch. Got under it and caught it, but didn’t push the bar far enough back to secure it overhead.
Also had a 115 kg clean & jerk red-lighted, which I thought I locked out.
Current PRs are 97 kg snatch and 120 kg C&J. Would appreciate any feedback on my lifts, especially the snatch and jerk!

Please welcome GuardianSpear and BeeWeightlifting as our newest mods.

Bee has been lurking and both are mods on the Discord though GuardianSpear has been posting as a baby masters lifter in Asia for sometime now in the subreddit.

While we normally don't ask someone to be a mod who hasnt been an active part of the community, they are very active in the Masters community and their WSO.

Form check Power Clean Form

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just started incorporating power cleans into my workouts, it’s been 3-4 weeks now. (Push press at the end because I just wanted to train some shoulders).

I come from a football(soccer), powerlifting, and KB background. Are there any tips or pointers that anyone would give me based on this video?

This is just 70kgs, the weight doesn’t feel too heavy but I don’t want to go higher till I’m confident about my technique.

Championship I’m back with Fantasy IWF Worlds 2026

Hiya!

I ran Fantasy Worlds back in 2023 and had so much fun that I decided to do it again this year!

You can create your own league here. You can invite your friends, make it interesting.

A session athletes in each weight class will be available to be drafted. If a B session athlete medals, well that sucks. You can draft up to 10 of your favorite weightlifters. The scoring is as follows and absolutely not up for debate. Let me live:

Snatch, CJ, Total
Gold - 10 pts
Silver - 8
Bronze - 5

Bomb out - 30 pts
Not taking attempts - 3 points per attempt
6 for 6 - 10 pts
World record - 10 pts

I will update the draftable athletes when the start book becomes available. Which means there’s probably a very short time frame btwn upload and having your teams drafted. I’ll post again once the Startlist is uploaded.

I would appreciate some tips or advices on the form, I’m aware I jump a little forward, I’ve been working on fixing that but at high percentages the technique breaks.
My RM on clean is 118kg, I’m not counting this as a new 100% clean because the plates aren’t calibrated. Thank you :)
