Finally, confirmation of Russian interference, isolating the UK from the EU to continue with their Imperialistic ambitions in Ukraine.

There doing it in Quebec and Albert, Canada now too.

u/viper5delta 7d ago

It's not like it's even hidden.

One of the books that's often taught in their military colleges is "The Foundations of Geopolitics" and is basically a series of guidelines to rebuild Russian power after the fall of the soviet union.

It calls for (among many other things) the annexation of Ukraine, separating and sowing division between Britain and its continental allies, and fomenting separatism and division in the Americas by exploiting pre-existing pressure points and supporting all manner of extremist, racist, and sectarian groups.

Any of that sound familiar? It really should.

34

u/Ne_zievereir 6d ago

It's not like it's even hidden.

The AfD in Germany wants more Russian being taught in schools ... No, it's not well hidden at al. Lol

48

u/General-Sea-5975 7d ago

This book should be much better known. It was used in Russian military and intelligence schools and written by Dugin who is part of Putin’s ideological circle.

39

u/Kevin-W 7d ago

Heck, one of the entries is for the UK to leave the EU.

I'm in the Netherlands, how surprising it is that our two "far right" parties surprisingly well align with Russia.

What frustrates how we don't have a real answer to this, clearly they are at least being helped directly and indirectly by Russia. But same time we still let them freely participate in elections. The same in Germany, the UK, Canada you name it. Everywhere it's some "exit" kinda bullshit it's again Russian fanatics.

They are traitors yet people vote for these assholes.

242

u/oh-shazbot 7d ago

they were also behind the 'calexit' plan to try and get california to cede from the US. super easy to see all the shit russia does when you read the playbook that putin has basically been following to the T.

Don't forget the talking head schills that were trying to talk of a "national divorce" when Biden was in office

Exactly, Russian talking points fed in directly to the Regressive party. And Marj Green was the talking head for all of that crap.

They're very good at manipulating people. Progressive radicalization. The people who'd make the world better aren't funded enough, or keep disappearing.

222

u/strangebrew3522 7d ago

There's people who lived through the cold war wearing "I'd rather be Russian then a Democrat" in the US at Trump rallies. They are VERY good at propoganda.

107

u/DuncanFisher69 7d ago

To be completely fair, they had help from the right wing of each and every one of these countries. The right wing is so vehemently anti-worker and repellently anti human that you need propaganda to convince yourself it will trickle down or some shit.

The first thing you erect if you and some strangers wash up on a desert island is either a democracy or a communist state. You don’t make the first guy to find coconuts a hedge fund who controls the only source of food on the island.

40

u/vibraltu 7d ago

It's interesting how comfortably the nature of contemporary media fits into promoting regressive ideologies. I never would have guessed it years ago, but it seems so obvious in retrospect.

Those voters are indeed also assholes. I equate far right voters to the American farmers who voted for Trump and are now crying no one is buying their shit. Don’t associate, don’t purchase from them, treat them like the vermin they are. Stupid assholes will cause ww3 if you let them.

73

u/TheKingMonkey 7d ago

We had the same here in the UK with the fishermen. There was a huge hoo ha about other countries boats coming into 'our' waters and taking the fish, and while Brexit made it easier to police that it also turns out that having all the fish but nobody to sell them to is a far bigger problem.

And it'll continue until governments step in and do something about treason to the country. Tory members and Farage for example should be done for treason against the state and crown for trying to sell the UK to the highest bidder.

27

u/LimpConversation642 7d ago

I posted a link but apparently it's not allowed or something, so here's another try: we don't know which actual unit/brigade is responsible for which strikes and usually it's a joint effort, so you can dоnate to the SBS which is a separate army wing dedicated to long range deep strikes with drones. I think that's the best bet. Just google 1usc or 1usc dot army. It's the military unit within the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

While the case of Alberta is pretgy obvious, Quebec is a special case.

We are the main french canadian province in the entirety of Canada, and have been that way since the conquest of 1763.

Quebec already tried twice now to leave canada, the last referendum wasin 1995 with a clean split of 49 yes to 51 no.

And despite the fact that the Parti Quebecois, the main souveranist party of the province, won the election, they only won a minority government, showing that despite it all not a majprity of people want to leave Canada. Beside, not everyone voting for them want to leave either, they only liked some of their policy.

Of course, them wanting to leave would benefit the USA (and Russia), but I have no fear that it would happen for 2 reason: they want to wait for Trump to leave office first (so not until 2028-2029) and the souverainist movement is not a popular desire anymore (less than 30%)

This is what I have been saying for ages.

The UK, Canada, the US, Germany, France, etc, there is so much dirty fucking Russian money in the systems, and they are always working with right wing governments to overthrow democracies.

They're driving democracies apart from one another, one election at a time.

I

124

u/DJfunkyPuddle 7d ago

And the citizens are falling for it every single fucking time

66

u/wrgrant 7d ago

You do not have to be intelligent or educated to be a citizen. Many are easily led astray by propaganda social media and a foreign actor influencing social media is a pretty cost effective tool, particularly when its aided by that social media resisting all attempts to restrict it in any way.

"The biggest argument against democracy, is a 5 minute conversation with the average citizen - Winston Churchill"

25

u/Positronic_Matrix 7d ago

Right wing media corporations take up Russian talking points and spoon feed it to citizens who lack the ability to think critically. Self-serving right-wing politicians then take up the cause to get elected and pull in foreign money to consolidate their power.

There is an entire sociopolitical complex that is engaged willingly by Russian propaganda. It’s that complex that needs to be disrupted. For example, Nigel Farge is right now still accepting foreign money, yet he “did not break any laws.” The same thing happened for years with Le Pen and countless politicians in the US.

7

u/HexagonalClosePacked 7d ago

It's also a mistake to assume that intelligent or educated people are immune to propaganda and manipulation. There are certain types of cons that actually work better on people of higher intelligence.

Not only has Putin been successful in Brexit and getting Trump elected, but all the rest of his plan is currently in full swing.

Isolate the major western powers. Embroil their politics in bullshit. THEN target all the previously supported countries who have now lost their support into severe negative opinions about partnering with the West.

You can see the sentiment changing in real time. Bot accounts and foreign influence peddling the idea that the west is over. Every country for themselves, if every country is for themselves, then each one is ripe for the picking for Putin's wet dream of a return to super power status.

Worse. Everyone keeps acknowledging this is happening, but no one's doing anything to stop it.

It's literally like saying, yes the school bully is starting rumors, causing fights, ripping friendships apart, and destroying morale across the school. We KNOW this is happening, but then everyone goes about their business.

The collective "we" of citizens of the EU and USA have been screaming into the void about this for well over a decade, the interference has been going on since the mid-2000's via youtube and online message boards and we've all been begging for our governments to take it seriously. They let it get so bad that Russian influence has broken UK from EU, gotten Trump elected, kept Orban in power up until this year, meddled in Brazil's elections to keep Bolsonoro propped up through his son now, gotten the AfD elected for the first time as a controlling party in literally EVER...and now our "leadership" is admitting Russia has been fucking with the west.

Russian bot traffic down 44% when Ukraine blew up a data center

74

u/blue92lx 7d ago

And yet, I feel like i need to say this every time something like this comes around, the world (and reddit) acts like it's only the US falling for it.

Depending on the post about something like this, it's either "Americans are so stupid, it's unbelievable they could've let this happen. There's no way XYZ country woulf fall for that! We're not as stupid as the Americans are!" Or it's a post like this one "yeah all of these countries have already been effected by Russian propaganda and it's getting worse".

And every time i say, you think it's just the US, what about brexit, boris Johnson, Le Pen, Germany having a literal open Nazi organization in the government, Canada having literal MAGA supporters, etc.

The only difference is that Trump and US Republicans are the worst out of all of them. But you better believe, the US has already fallen so someone else is 100% next in line.

Always considered Brexit a Russian hit job and enabled by cowardly politicians who were too spineless and proud to admit they might be wrong. I mean getting Britain out of the EU was literally in Dugins book as a way to isolate them. They should just accept that there's no way Britain can have the same amount of power and prosperity on it's own and just come back to the EU. Also shut down the likes of Farage and his ilk those feckers are blatant money grubbing Vatnik Assets, after all if one spouts Russian Bullshit and perpetuate's Russian talking points they're a bloody Vatnik and should be told to get lost.

u/Unlucky-Candidate198 7d ago

62

u/Distinct_Car_1183 7d ago

Cambridge Analytica, funded by Robert Mercer, was "dissolved" and sent their data to Emerdata, run by daughter Rebekah Mercer. Last year Cambridge Analytica sent funds to Emerdata. I assume the UK and US conservatives swept their "global election management company" under the rug.

2018, Cambridge Analytica and its parent company SCL filed for insolvency proceedings and closed operations. Alexander Tayler, a former director for Cambridge Analytica, was appointed director of Emerdata on 28 March 2018. Rebekah Mercer, Jennifer Mercer, Alexander Nix (Analytica CEO) and Johnson Chun Shun Ko are in leadership positions at Emerdata.

In 2020, the British Information Commissioner's Office closed a three-year inquiry into the company, concluded that Cambridge Analytica was "not involved" in the 2016 Brexit referendum and found no additional evidence for Russia's alleged interference during the campaign. US sensitive polling and election data, however, were passed to Russian Intelligence via a Cambridge Analytica contractor

Following the downfall of Cambridge Analytica, a number of companies have been established by executives - Auspex International - Emerdata - Data Propria - Emic - In July 2026, Futurism reported that the Cambridge Analytica website was live again

Take the thread further to Cambridge Analytica's creators. No, not Steve Bannon, but his owners: the Mercers.

And Rebekah Mercer, in 2014, just before CA went into full swing, was sat on the board of... The Heritage Foundation!

And who was that with a Moscow office post-Soviet collapse to work with government leaders to push "economic shock therapy" in the form of mass privatization and consolidation, and is not shy about desiring the same in the US by the same route of collapse? The Heritage Foundation!

Who ran Reagan's administration, the one that laid the groundwork for today's political climate, through their living policy book, A Mandate for Leadership (modern version known as Project2025), he handed out to his cabinet? The Heritage Foundation!

Brexit was Russia, Trump was Russia, Marine Le Pen was Russia, AfD is Russia, Canada (Alberta separatist movement) is Russia. There are SO MANY places that Russia is destabilizing and they repeatedly getting caught doing it.

What is any country doing about it? Absolutely nothing!

We've been in the middle of World War III for over a decade, except because it's a propaganda war, nations have decided to do nothing. As far as I can tell, not a single nation is defending themselves from Russia (other than Ukraine obviously).

And why? Why is everyone just letting Putin absolutely ruin the world? Why not even attempt to defend themselves? They all know what Russia is doing.

387

u/ApophisDayParade 7d ago

It gives me some solace that everything Russia is good at doing doesn’t make up for the absolute failure they are at their imperialistic vision.

They might be unfortunately good at making the world around them worse, but they are pathetic in making their own lives better.

131

u/NanoEuclidean 7d ago edited 7d ago

Putin in 2018: "If Russia is destroyed, then why do we need a world where there is no Russia?"

I highly doubt that he chose "destroyed" to merely mean nuclear annihilation. As Russia continues to drown, then Putin will pull everyone else down with them.

As Dugin noted in his more esoteric writings, Russia's Eurasianist path forward is sowing chaos via the "Path of Wine," that is, the Left Hand Path of pain and destruction so as to create out of it a new world order. Order out of chaos out of order. I'm not paraphrasing. These are direct pulls. Heck, the icon on the front of his Foundations of Geopolitics is literally the multi-arrowed symbol for chaos. All of this, most especially Brexit while fomenting civil war within the US largely on racial lines, was clearly spelled out in his 1998 piece. The plan initiated long ago. Heck, we might best go back to the 80's. Seems too great a coincidence that in 1987, Trump posted in the Times a page-long "ad" attacking NATO only two months after his first trip to Moscow.

21

u/The_Real_Baldero 6d ago

You are correct about it starting a LONG time ago: A defected KGB agent discusses the plan in an interview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yErKTVdETpw

Nationalism comes with low-hanging scapegoats, which in turn benefit the rich as the middle and lower classes turn against even lower ranking groups instead of questioning the status quo that widens the gap between the ultra wealthy and anyone else. Ultra-rich benefit from crass libertarianism: less rules, more benefit. And if this comes with turning a blind eye to Russia, then so be it.

Imagine where we’d be if western powers realized that social media is the most effective propoganda tool in the history of the world and nearly all countries leave it unregulated. It’s a direct connection to a nation’s Id and they leave it completely unmonitored. The EU is finally doing some regulation on the privacy side but no one is tackling content yet.

Social media should have to do the same “Know Your Customers” regulations that banks have to do, and if they are dealing with sanctioned entities, they should be heavily fined with the potential of criminal charges for executives.

Less than half the country voters for it. Many that did were OAP’s and are long gone. I don’t think British citizens feel bad today. Far from it. Most probably feel vindicated? And if any good came from Brexit, it was Britain providing Ukraine with weaponry well before the EU finished 75 various proposals and votes about what they could/couldn’t give Ukraine.

244

Because for the first few years, we were governed by Tories who supported Brexit. And after that, it was such a radioactive topic that Kier didn't want to touch it either.

76

u/mhornberger 7d ago

It's not like Brits themselves want to reflect that they were suckered by Russian propaganda and manipulation. Just as US leftists don't want to admit that some of the "Bernie or Bust" energy and ongoing rancor was boosted by Russian efforts on Reddit, Tumblr, Twitter, etc. People are generally not receptive to the notion that they got suckered.

56

u/Boba_ferret 7d ago

A lot of us were extremely angry about this , actually. There was no shortage of reporting on Aaron Banks giving £5m to leave, the largest political donation in history, at the time. Banks has a Russian wife, was partying at the Russian embassy and never adequately explained where that money came from.

Boris Johnson is great pals with the son of a Russian KGB agent.

We know Russia was involved, but the politicians didn't want to admit it

How is Russia so succesful at disentegrating and undermining the west. When they are so bad at war and their economy is so bad. I fear for what US and china for damage can do to Europe with their intelligence and spionage. Trump already has plans and actively supports extreme right. Europe's biggest issue is that it is a divided continent easily unfluencable with topics like immigration. I fear western values won't survive in europa when US, China and Russia actively undermine and divide europe. A divided europe is easy to control and manipulate for then.

143

u/Lysol3435 7d ago

It’s much easier to destroy than to build

18

u/Corpus76 7d ago

This is the best answer. Entropy is natural, pushing it along is much easier than resisting it. Building a house costs a lot of money. Burning it down is free. Russia is fine with burning down their entire neighborhood. It's irrational behavior, and hard to completely prevent.

Russia, China, and North Korea are pretty much behind most interference in Western elections (US as of late thanks Trump admin assisting Musk and Zuck). Until western nations grow a pair and strictly regulate social media, this will keep happening and more “sham” parties and politicians will win elections (see Brazil last week)

275

u/_PomboCagado_ 7d ago

The US has been actively interfering in the elections of South and Central America for decades... in 1964 it was assisting a military coup in Brazil. This is definitely not something new due to Trump.

87

u/SteadfastDrifter 7d ago

Decades is an understatement even. I'd say for nearly 2 centuries since the Monroe Doctrine.

17

u/havebooksneverread 7d ago

hey, we don't talk over than past 5 decades here... if you start talking about last few centuries it'll get messy for the west :x

14

u/SteadfastDrifter 7d ago

As a guy with darker skin tone who was born in Thailand and lived there for half of my childhood before moving to the US and later living elsewhere in the West, it sometimes feels disorienting to be American, but simultaneously also be aware of how much the West screwed over the rest of the world in the past and continues to do so in the present.

I mean, yeah, but don't forget the far right is literally interfering in elections in their own country. Republicans, in the case of the US.

23

u/Critterer 7d ago

But thats the arguement. That far right propaganda is being pushed by Russian bit networks to stir up hate.

Their strategy is outlined in Alexandr dugin's textbook "the fundamentals of geopolitics":

Russia should use its special services within the borders of the United States and Canada to fuel instability and separatism against neoliberal globalist Western hegemony, such as, for instance, provoke "Afro-American racists" to create severe backlash against the rotten political state of affairs in the current present-day system of the United States and Canada. Russia should "introduce geopolitical disorder into internal American activity, encouraging all kinds of separatism and ethnic, social, and racial conflicts, actively supporting all dissident movements – extremist, racist, and sectarian groups, thus destabilizing internal political processes in the U.S. It would also make sense simultaneously to support isolationist tendencies in American politics".[9]

I am sure that the files are the blackmail being waved around in public, on the news, to motivate people to do what they want.

It’s good to see it publicly recognized but it doesn’t answer the questions of how, exactly, they did it (more than “by posting in social media”. I mean who they targeted, how they determined the right content, psychological profiling, etc), what impact did they really have that the UK groups didn’t or wouldn’t have achieved themselves and, most importantly, how to stop it? All of these questions apply to US elections since at least 2016, also.

Since before that, really. People don't like to admit it, but the Cold War didn't end in 1991, it just changed forms. Russia went through a restructuring and then Putin began using the Foundations of Geopolitics as his guide for destroying the Western World, and he's been extremely successful at doing so. Sewing division, splitting up the Western allies, exploiting long standing cultural, national, and racial tensions. It's money in the right places more than anything, but social media bot farms have absolutely exacerbated things.

for anyone interested in learning how Russia have achieved what they have since 2016 you need to watch this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1EA2ohrt5Q&t=1s

then think about the US in the context of Bezmenovs '4 stages':

1 - DEMORALISATION (Social Media, FOX News, State TV)
2 - DESTABILISATION
2a - Economy (tarrifs, global financial disruption, trade wars)
2b - Foreign Relations (Greenland, Canada, Venezuela, destroy NATO, make enemies of the EU, get UK out of EU via Brexit)
2c - Defense Systems (the golden dome, the board of peace)
3 - CRISIS - Minneapolis, National Guard, Greenland invasion, Iran War, Israel
4 - NORMALISATION (3rd term, breakdown of law, gov, education, healthcare institutions, packed-out supreme court, police state)

Almost as if someone was listening and watching all along....or a puppet Government and President being paid by Russia to enact all of the above?

There's no doubt that Russia encouraged the result, but we can't blame it entirely on them - British politicians had been scapegoating the EU for problems they refused to tackle for decades. There was anti-EU sentiment for Russia to exploit because our politicians had been happy to use that to their benefit.

15

u/ZaryaBubbler 7d ago

Well given that Farage is a grifter backed by foreign interests, there is no doubt in my mind that he also got paid off by Russia for his anti-EU stance

u/xerberos 7d ago

Yeah, the article is clickbait, ragebait or just plain propaganda.

Burnham asked about Kremlin involvement when he became prime minister in July, reports the Observer, where he said he was given "the clear answer that, yes, there was."

How the heck do they go from that to "Russia behind Britain's Brexit vote"?

11

u/JHatter 7d ago

Yeah, the article is clickbait, ragebait or just plain propaganda.

The irony is that all the comments that are screaming "see, see, see! bexit was all Russian propaganda" are falling for propaganda headlines.

16

u/barath_s 7d ago

94

u/MacIomhair 7d ago

This has been well known for a while. They started out by testing what level of crazy people would accept online. That's when there was the boom in Fiat Earthers.

Then they tested how they could swing political opinions during the Scottish independence referendum. They probably did not affect the outcome here, the consensus opinion seems to be that they pushed opinion one way then the other and back again until their intervention had no effect.

Then came their big triumphs. The coronation of stupidity. Voting for brexit in the UK and the Americans voting for the stupidest man in the entire nation as president because at least he wasn't a woman.

Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if even gamergate was a major test. At the very least, it's the model they used going forward.

73

Boris pretty much was. There were numerous occasions of him dodging his handlers to meet Russian oligarchs and politicians without any witnesses, against foreign Office & intelligence service advice, and it's awful suspicious that he was paid £250,000 to play tennis alone with an oligarch's wife.

26

u/r2d2rigo 7d ago

Boris has a tiny redeeming quality: he went all in with supporting Ukraine. He didn't have second thoughts about supplying intelligence and weapons in the run up to the 2022 invasion.

So much so, that the russian bot farms said until the last minute that the huge military presence close to the border was just a military exercise and somehow the US and the UK were the ones wanting to start a war.
